ooc: definitely set after the carnivore vs. herbivore plot

It had been quite some time since he last gathered his clan. He needed to see who was there, and furthermore, test their skills. The Bonebound never really had organized training and sparring. Up until now, Azazel had let it be just a title held by those who lived in Canis. Sometimes The Bone King would patrol the boundries, but he wasn't even sure who was still around. With the threat of the Merrymen from so long ago gone, he'd gotten a little bit lazy. There was a more pressing matter. He feared that Maji Walezi would come to the gates of Tunnel K and seek out Kerberos and make him pay for what had occured during their election. That was what worried him most at this moment. Ashtoreth was back and he was determined to make Canis safer...

So a meeting was in order... and perhaps a little practice session. He figured that they needed to practice combat and be prepared for the worst. The sovereign found his precipice and clambered onto its peak. Carmine gaze swept over his home of bones, and he closed his eyes. The Bonebound would be great again. They'd be renowned all around the caves. They'd be the guardians of Canis. He called out, for all of his clan to hear.

Alright, Bonebound nerds. This is going to be an easy little sparring session thread. I'd love for this thread to have 100% participation so we can get a whole lot of points for the Job Fair(e). For this round, everyone should post an entry and gather below Azazel, and in the next round, he'll explain what's happening and pair characters up based on their skill levels (magic/physical combat/other ranks) and the fights will begin! They will all be judged by your's truly and can be claimed for magicka.

All Bonebound are asked for, and people that are loners are also welcome, but if they join this thread, they will be recruited into the ranks of the Bonebound.

Please place your word count at the end of each post, since the word minimum for this contest is 200! Let's do this, guys!

Bones was the first to arrive.

Not that he was keeping track of that or anything.

The scarred painted dog's ears flickered as he lay in the bone shelter, tongue licking his jowls as he listened to his grandfather's call, but there was no hesitation as the dog rose to his paws and made his way towards the source of the cry, bleary eyes blinking the sleep away.

He was already exhausted when he sat down before the vulture, absent-mindedly licking Azazel's entire beak. By now, it wouldn't have been the most abnormal thing to come from Bones - given that the pup drew on walls with the blood of rats.

"Hello, grandfather,"" he said - Bones himself only just remembering that, by now, he was an adult. Carefully, the dog licked the dust from his paws. "What's going on?"

The dog lowered himself to his belly now (completely ignoring the fact that it just got his fur even more dirty), watching the vulture briefly before he turned his head around, looking for the familiar flash of white fur and three heads or the disgusting, stinking pelt of his mother. The dog's ears flickered once more before he turned his attention back to Azazel.

Carcino had honestly been anticipating the Bone King's summon. After all that had happened, now that most of their number were returned to Canis, it seemed only natural that there be a meeting held to assess their current situation. Of course, despite knowing it was coming, the call still jarred the cat away rather unceremoniously. He startled as he often did waking now, but the familiar press of fur against his side soothed him immediately. Amaria. He regarded the stirring female with affection, then ran his tongue over her ear, rousing her.

He stood a moment later and stretched, stiff body popping and cracking in places as he lowered half at a time at full length. With a wide yawn that ended in a grimace from the stinging pull of mangled muscle and skin, the scarred cat headed for the Bone King's Throne. He guided himself easily to its side and settled there- not to appear any more important, but to lean against it for support. He looked tired. He felt dead.

Bones had already arrived, and as his family too gathered, the black cat paid the unrelated dog little mind. His attention turned up to Aza'zel, curious to hear what the bird would say regarding recent events- and too see if he indeed had any plans to take action against the stale dread that still seemed to hang over Canis since the trouble began. First Hasira, then... well, perhaps Kerberos had escaped the Maji's wrath for his crimes. Here, the loyal canine could find peace and protection from them. If Carcino could forgive the dog his sins, then surely so could the rest of Canis.

"Remedy, fix your feathers." He scolded as the youthful hybrid arrived. Her scoffed response earned some expression from the scornful father, but as she sat by his side, he nodded with regal approval as she groomed her ruffled plumage flat again.

Liora was happy and relieved that her sister was back home, but the guilt of having let her be captured in the first place had never left. She accepted the fact that it was her fault. If she had never opened her loud mouth, if she had never antagonized the stupid deer and made him freeze her wings, she could have protected Ashy. Instead she sat and watched while the two rhinos beat her to a pulp, and then she had deigned to be rescued by - shudder - Gertrude. It was the worst day of her life, by far. Then again, most of her life consisted of lazing around Canis and throwing bones at people with her raven father, so it wasn't hard to have a bad day.

At her other father's call, Liora roused from her perch and made her way towards him. The bone fortresses served to hide her well from anyone she didn't want to find her, which wasn't often; but the purpose was still there, and with guilt hanging over her head like a rain cloud, sometimes it was better to be able to hide away and ruminate rather than talk to others. They all seemed to hold her as some careless punk and it was difficult sometimes to counter that illusion, either to match it or disprove it. Even worse that that was the expectation of a tough exterior, and Liora couldn't always keep it up, especially around Ashtoreth. It was obvious that the black lammeraven had a soft spot for her noodley sister.

On wide wings, reaching their full span now that she was fully grown, Liora soared overhead the gathering a few times, examining who had already arrived. Bone white eyes surveyed the cat and his awful bird hybrid child, and the scarred painted dog Bones, and her father - but no one else. She croaked a loud greeting to the lammergeier before landing next to him, ruffling and folding her wings against her side. Liora assumed her position beside her father; after all, she was still a princess despite all that had happened.

What had initially been just a visit home had become her official return to Canis. After the family discussion a night or two before, Remedy had come to her senses. She'd missed her family, no one more so than Cure, who's welcoming embrace had put her over the edge and cemented her claws to Canis for as long as they would have her. How she had ever considered leaving this place, and her twin, behind was now a distant, abstract memory. One she'd never fully understand. Feelings. Yuck.

When Aza'zel's voice broke through her sleepy haze, Remedy hoisted herself up, startled. It wasn't often the old bird sang out like that. She looked past the edge of her perch and found her family already gathering below. So, with no further hesitation, the hybrid lifted from the cliff and circled on lazy wings down to the ground below. She landed easily enough, and folding her wings neatly, headed to sit in her place beside her father and Amaria.

Except her Father's eye caught sight of her ruffled, bed feathers and she hesitated as his scolding correction. She considered being rebellious, and even walked past him with a scoff, tilting her head back. He looked surprised, but as she sat and moved to preen those feathers down, she felt a slight satisfaction from the way the old cat sighed with relief.

She settled in, polite and proper, the image of perfection.

Kerberos was one of the last to arrive, his paws heavy as he dragged himself into the dusty boneyard, back to his homeland. He had been off on an important mission, and there was a cautious wary air to his pawsteps as he traveled, slowly and purposefully back to Canis. The call of the ave hit his ears, and as always he would answer it. Surprise filled the carnivore as he saw nearly everyone gathered-- the entire Carcino family, all of Azazel's kin-- so many of them. When had his family become whole once more?

Tired, the dog found himself drawn towards Bones. His brother was a comforting sight, and they never had any time for one another these days. He came right up to the pup and reached down to lick at him with not just two but three tongues-- his middle head was getting stronger by the day, and it would not miss out on an opportunity to show affection even if it was too damaged to find strength to speak.

Cropped ears and crimson nose pointed towards Aza'zel, his tail lifting into the air like a banner of oranges and tans. He was here, he was home, and despite his wounds and his exhaustion there was a smile sparkling in the corners of his eyes.

@Giggle, if you want this can be your thread back? I tried to leave my post kinda vague but might be good to have it directly after the other thread-- if you wanna assume a time skip that's fine too though, since this could just as easily be after some other mission or w/e who knows... i'll figure it out either way lmao

Ashtoreth did not want to be here. She tried to tell her father, tried to show all of Canis that she wanted to leave-- but no one listened to her silent pleas. Even as she sulked just under her father's wing (she refused to leave his side despite her reluctance to stay) no one seemed to notice how awful she felt. Food was a difficult thing to swallow, and she desperately wished that her Fairy was still around to help her out. The vulture had, unfortunately, a healer's duty. She was destined to wander in search of others to heal-- and Ash wasn't dying anymore. It didn't make keeping down her meals any easier though. Her body seemed to revolt at meat and even marrow-- she simply wasn't feeling good.

Her feathers had returned to their copper shade; a bath from her father was enough to fix that. She was still thin, but she looked like she used to once more. The green tint to her skin was fading and she was turning pink again, slowly but surely. This meeting only made the child more uneasy-- her nervous disposition was worse than usual. Her eyes were darting around, catching glimpses of shadows dancing under bones everywhere she looked. Occasionally she would hear the clop of a hoof and freeze up-- but no one noticed. No one cared.

It took one of the more recent members of the clan a few moments to realize what Azazel's call meant, floating eerily through Canis as it did. Xe'd been playing with some of the many bones that littered the ground; small as xe still was, xe'd discovered that xe could fit inside the eyeholes of some of the larger skulls, and had been exploring the potentiality to use the things as a fort. Xe was not so large yet that the bones looked attractive as something to collect or to wear-- that would come in time. For now, the interesting stratum simply had some curious potential applications as architecture.

But such an investigation of the architectural possibilities of bones would have to wait-- the leader was calling, and once Jericho realized that, xe understood that it was a summon. Xe pulled xyrself from the eyehole of one massive specimen, flicking out the mottled mix of down down feathers and the few brightly-colored juvenile feathers that grew along xyr body, to get the dust out. That done, Jericho strutted to the gathering of the bonebound clan, as curious about Azazel and what the vulture wanted as xe was about everyone else.

He'd been curled up in the middle of Kerberos' back for a solid hour now, lulled to sleep by his friend's slow and steady breathing, proof that the pup was still alive. Granted, "Mick" himself didn't have a heartbeat, but he was also about ninety percent eyes, so it didn't bother him much. Purring softly in his doze, a sharp call jolted the hairless creature from his sleep, up like a shot and using hooked paws to clamber up to his host's shoulder, peering out at the world suspiciously. Once, he'd been filled with nothing but mindless curiosity, wandering in search of a heat source, but now - now his first thought was a possessive need to keep his friend safe, considering all that had happened.

The call, at least, appeared to be friendly, if Kerberos was headed towards it. Then again, he'd let a jaguar almost kill him, so Goblin had his own reservations about his friend's general choice-making skills.

Nevertheless, a sprawling, dusty cavern soon unfurled before his wide, still eyes. He stared down at the numerous bones strewn throughout, a small trickle of strange discomfort licking up his spine - were there even more killers here, void of just thoughts and full of only anger? Thankfully, the corpses seemed old, enough for the beasts that created them to be gone by now.

Considering their luck, Goblin doubted it.

A gathering, huge and varied - to someone who'd only ever met a whopping four Gembounds, at least - stirred before them, and almond-shaped eyes darted between them all, a tiny smile pulling at his lips at the sight of the one called Bones. He, at least, would not harm his host. For now, the cat stayed perched in the space where Kerberos' neck met his shoulder, mask-like face peering about the room, rumbling purr steady and strong.

Amaria

You fell away,
What more can I say?
The feelings evolved,
I won't let it out,
I can't replace...
Your screaming face,
Feeling the sickness inside

Amaria was lost to her dreams, sleeping away peacefully next to the male who had stolen her heart before she had ever realized it happening. For once she was undisturbed in her sleep, not one nightmare plaguing her minds eye. It wasn't until the leopard beside her jolted in his sleep did she finally begin to stir and when his grooming affections was given to her a purr instantly began to rumble in her chest as she slowly roused. A yawn escaped her, exposing all her sharp teeth as her tongue curled out in the expression. Bleary eyes watched as Cancer made his way somewhere and for a moment she perked her ears in interest. 'Where is he going...' She hummed in thought. It hadn't occured to her there had been a summoning for the BoneBound as she had definitely slept right through it.

With curious thoughts the mutated clouded leopard rose to her paws, stretching out her legs as far as she could reach. There were a few pops in her joints, sending relief throughout her. With one last shake of herself Amaria moved to follow after Cancer. Finding herself in the midst of a gather, Amaria lifted her had and looked at all the faces who were already there. Cancer was up by the thrown with Remedy and Amaria gave the little hybrid a warm, affection smile before she turned her focus to the rest of the gathered group. Kerberos was there and she regarded him gently only to find her paws moving to place herself towards the back of the gather. She did not find it in herself to go over to where Cancer was. It would bring her into everyone's view, but not only thhat it was near the leader. She held no strong attatchments to the bird, so she did not feel like it was right to stand as if she were familiar with him.

Gently she lowered herself to the ground, resting along her side as her dragon tail began to shift and flick as if it were an ordinary feline tail. Curiosity curled within her and for a moment she wondered why everyone was gathering. She was sure she would find out soon, but for now until the bird King spoke, she was left to only ponder on the ideas of what could be going on now.
