"Speech"

At first she waddled sneakily, laying her paws soft against the stone. But as soon as she was out of earshot, Eira picked up the pace and bounded, giggling quietly to herself. The reason she was so wary was simple; she'd wanted to explore. At her own pace this time. Although they were friends almost joined by the hip at this point, Eira had to admit that her best friend Kimen could be a bit of a drag sometimes, and not just with his slowness.

Okay... so she was being a little harsh. She felt a little tug of guilt in her chest. It wasn't his fault his gem was where it was. But maybe it was his fault he seemed rather obsessed with 'nature' and the 'unnatural'. Everything he looked at had to be one of those things. Eira rolled her eyes a little at the thought. Why couldn't he be simple like she was? Everything was just demons to her. Simple as that. No complicated words. Just demons. Bad things were demons. Good things were... things. She hadn't considered it very much, she often seemed to take it for granted.

But it didn't really matter anywho, she figured she'd be back before he even knew she was gone.

The plan was, she'd sneak out. She'd have a quick look around here, in this room that had really piqued her interest. And then, she'd go back to him. Kimen wouldn't even know. He couldn't. Ack.

Eira had been so focused on her thoughts she hadn't even properly looked around yet. She was annoyed with herself. She breathed deeply and gazed at the world around. Wow. Glittery rocks and funny-shaped ones. How exciting. I'd better head back before the demons get Kimen...

She slowly turned back the way she'd come.

THEY BOTH EVEN HAVE FACE GEMS

There was a small... little in his way. She was looking at all these rocks and she was OBVIOUSLY up to something because she kept sneaking around. What did she have to hide? Who was she? Where did she come from?

It didn't really matter, she had a head gem, like Gertrude. He wasn't sure if he loved it, or if he hated it. It was easier to hate it. Was it even real? He had to find out. She wasn't very big. Gertrude couldn't tell if she was a baby or just a small gembound. It didn't matter to him. She turned suddenly, presumably to leave. Gertrude wouldn't allow that.

Flying low to the ground, Gertrude approached the girl. As he neared, his talons stretched out, aiming to grab her head gem and rip it off it it was not truly her gem. He couldn't have posers in the cave, oh no, not even if she was a fan of his.

"Speech"

Eira was alerted to the fact she wasn't alone by the sudden rush of wingbeats filling the air, and she looked around just in time to see the outstretched talons of a bright green bird looming right there, aiming right for her. Immediately, anger flooded her chest and she let out a piercing squeal of the very first thing that crossed her mind.

"DEMON!" she yelled, her entire body flexing as she leaped upwards to face her assailant head on without thought for the consequences.

But alas, it was not meant to be. Eira was only a baby, and a water creature at that. She jumped up, expected to soar higher than she did, and instead tumbled to a halt face-first. Luckily, she'd narrowly avoided those seeking talons with her fall. She opened her red eyes wide, stunned, and the fur along her spine rose angrily. She quickly stumbled up onto her paws and shrieked again, trying to appear heroic, dignified, and... not scared at all.

"IDENTIFY YOURSELF, DEMON!" she bellowed, puffing out her chest.

Oh the little thing called him a demon. Cute. Though his claws missed, the bird would not be deterred. He soared back up as the thing below squeaked. Then she asked him to identify himself. He would do as she wished, but also follow along with her tiny fantasy, "I am, as you say, a demon, now prepare to have that gem ripped form your face, RAT!" he cried, circling around with a loud screech. His talons flared out as he once again neared the small thing, aiming to once again pull the gem away from her face. There could only be one.

Eira snarled and growled, in as fierce a way as she could manage. Her fur all bristling and her brow creased with fury, she prepared herself to face off this 'demon', in what she felt was her first true chance at being a hero. Digging her claws into the ground, huffing and heaving, Eira saw those glinting talons coming for her and crouched down, flexing her muscles as she prepared to dive out of the way.

Closer, closer, closer they came, close enough that she could see the bird's wicked claw tips... and then Eira was gone! Heroically she skidded to one side and waited with a glint in her eye for the bird to crash into the ground...

The naive little creature waited patiently for the chance to gloat.

The thing dodged him! Damn! As an experienced fighter, however, Gertrude narrowly avoided crashing into the ground, much as birds of prey were used to doing when their elusive meals escaped them. Keeping his wings wide, Gertrude glided just above the ground, his eyes sharp. He tilted softly, aiming to bring himself around. One flap, two flap. He gained momentum. He zeroed in on the small impostor. His body went rigid. The pigeon aimed to zoom in and knock the small being up and to her side.

The demon bird avoided her cunning plan to send him crashing into the ground, and Eira was severely disappointed. Fresh rage welled Up in her stomach and she watched it flying straight at her after it had spun around, satisfyingly giving her the chance to figure out a counter, albeit a bit of a stupid one. Grinning savagely, Eira threw herself forward to meet the bird's outstretched talons with bared fangs and outstretched paws.

OOC: Sorry so late, I didn't get tagged TT.TT

He swooped, but instead of grabbing onto the girl, she grabbed on to him! Her teeth sunk into his left talon. Gertrude cried out and quickly beat his wings, aiming to take the small girl higher and higher into the air, using his right talon to try to grab hold of her head gem. Lets see how long she could hang on.

Success! Eira grabbed onto the bird's leg and hung there, swaying and focusing on not looking down. She felt its claws riving into the flesh around the edges of her gem, causing sticky blood to well to the surface and stain her pristine white fur. She growled softly under her breath, driving in her teeth further in an effort to stay right where she was despite the invasive taste of salt. Within a few moments she'd realized that she was slipping slightly and lashed out with both paws to entangle her rubbery fingers into the soft feathers of the 'demon', for a better grip.

She was still here? Gertrude pulled upwards, higher and higher. He decided he was far high enough. Squawking, the bird prince lashed out with his right talon, aiming to take out an eye if he had to to make the little rat let go of him.
