Deep at the bottom of the river in Polaris sat a sapphire blue egg. It would probably be unnoticeable to any creature swimming in the water or looking from above because it matched the color of the river fairly well. The water was beautiful and sapphire was beautiful. Until it cracked.

A bubble of air was released and another until the chrysalis broke in two and released a large creature. It had no legs, no fur or scales like the creatures on land. It had skin, dark gray skin and flippers that it would use for swimming. This creature was a dolphin and boy was he happy to be alive! His sapphire-blue eyes were open and taking in everything around him. Fish swam near him and due to some instinct he snapped one up and ate it. Tasty!

He released a whistle of joy but stopped instantly. What was that noise? He opened his mouth and released another sound similar to the first. They made him happy! He rolled in the water with his joy and released several more whistles, each sounding different than the last. He did this until one series of whistle appealed to him more than the others. What had it sounded like? He tried again and made the whistle.

Eeya

That was the noise it made. Oh boy! That was him! That was his own signature whistle! In joy he swam around in circles. He swam and swam until he realized he couldn't breathe anymore. Uh oh! What should he do? Oh oh! He was running out of air! Frantically he searched around until he looked towards the surface. There! He had to get there!

Quickly he swam upwards powerfully until he breached the water fantastically. Water fell from his form as he leaped and the light caught his gemstone dorsal fin, making it shine beautifully before he landed back in the water with a loud splash.

That was so much fun and there had been many things on land! Wanting to investigate more he swam closer to land and poked his head out of the water. Wow! There were shining crystals and green stuff and glowy wall plants! It was amazing up there!

Things had gotten a bit darker for the young rodent after the traumatic event a few days ago, wanting to have some time on her own for a bit and try to clear her head. So much had happened; she woke from her slumber to meet Ky, and soon to meet Leon and a few other new faces. Was there when the lights had turned on, brightening up the dark tunnels she was born into; but that seemed not enough to bring her back from her first attempt at using magic just like Makyna only to have her first real taste at failure.

The capybara limped along the tunnels, finding herself in the large room of Polaris again; where the lights had turned on a day or so ago. Now standing on three legs, she was a bit unstable. It would take her many long weeks before she would get the hang of something she so quickly caught onto the day she was born. The sound of something familiar caught her attention, water. Stumbling over, she moved closer to see the beautiful river that fed into the different tunnels. Something about water calmed the female, maybe it was because she had a power of it or because she was born next to it in the waterfall room?

Ether way, she found herself lost in thought as she stared into the rippling reflection of herself. The water had a calming affect on the young female, sitting her rump down to let her one good rear leg relax now since it has had to carry double the weight since the lost of the other. Lost in thought, she almost didn't notice something was moving in the water.

But once something breached the surface, a surprised cry came from the rodent. "What was that!" She rolled back a few feet, trying to get back up again and see what had just happened. Peaking over the edge of the riverbed, eyes locked on a creature that was none like she had seen so far. "Wow . . . ." She moved closer to get a better look at them, but hoped they would not be scared by her little form.

Just as he was pondering how pretty it was above the surface he noticed something coming into his field of vision. A strange brown creature came hobbling along. Wow, if the land creatures had to go so slowly on little stick legs like that he was glad he'd been born into the water with quick moving flippers. He didn't find Carrie's three legs strange as this was his first creature and as such he thought it was normal, as normal as a land critter could be anyway. He examined her further and found the brown fuzzy stuff all over her body. It looked rather itchy but she didn't scratch. Hmm, maybe it was normal then.

It seemed that she didn't notice him at first as she came right up to the river's edge to look at herself. It wasn't until a little later that she looked up and locked eyes with him. Apparently he was just as strange to her as she was to him for the creature fell back in surprise. How funny! The young dolphin gave a little whistle of laughter before he ducked beneath the surface. It might have appeared that the capybara had frightened him but that was far from the truth. If the gembound was impressed by just his appearance then she would be far more impressed with what he would do next. If he did it right.

Eeya turned around underneath the water and then kicked his tail fin as hard as he could, building up a terrific amount of speed before he broke the water's surface again. This time following some instinct that told him what he should do to execute a lovely move.

He broke the surface and while he went through the air, he twirled. Demonstrating easily what his particular species of dolphin was known for. The water spun off of his form and the light's glinted beautiful from his gem before he landed back in the water, slicing the surface with hardly a splash.

Now that he was finished showing off the dolphin swam under the water back to the capybara, this time he came up far closer to the land. His belly skimmed the surface of the ground beneath the water as he poked his beak right up to her nose, examining her even closer. "Eeeeeeeyoooooooaaaaa?" He exclaimed in the whistely voice of a dolphin. He understood the words but he had no idea that the capybara might not find them very intelligible. "Keeeekeeeoooooo!" He whistled again with a laugh.

Eyes danced over the creature, another gembound? Taking note of the gem on their . . . head? For a moment she thought they might be another creature that goes after little gembounds; since she heard about the Yeti and seem golems in person. Tho, it only took her a second to realize that this was no monster. At least, she hoped they weren't. Slowly she inched forward to the edge of the water to get a better look at them but they has disappeared under the water. Weird. She looked around but only noticed a shadow moving around.

Was that them? And her question was quickly answered as soon as the new gembound broke free of the water and twirled in the air. She was able to get a better look at them at that moment. No legs, head, tail and . . . not sure what those other parts were. They looked like legs but they also had one on their back as well. Once the other was back in the water and came up closer, the rodent inched over to try and say hello. "Eeeeeeeyoooooooaaaaa?"

Oh my, she had no idea what they had said. But then again, Carrie wasn't much for words when she awoke, maybe they were still learning to say things? But as she leaned closer, the poor thing almost fell into the water. Face first, she dropped down but luckily she caught herself! Nose barely touched the water, of that wouldn't have been pretty.

Trying to right herself, she looked back at the new creature. "Hello . . . ?" Head titled a bit as she watched the watercreature, noticing that they seemed to be perfect for life off land.

The dolphin stared back at the capybara, smile on his face as she investigated him. The poor critter looked a little confused at him and when she tried to come closer she nearly fell in! Eeya wasn't worried about that one bit, if she fell in he would catch her and right her. The water was his place and no one should feel in danger so long as he was around!

"Hello . . . ?" What was that strange sound coming out of her mouth? It was some weird landcritter word. He watched as she tilted her head to the side and he mirrored her by doing the same thing. Then he tilted his head to the other side and back again. He gave a whistling laugh before falling silent and tilting his head to the side again. He didn't understand what the head thing was about. Was it a game? It didn't feel like a game. Hmm...

Hello.

What was that sound? What were these actions? What should he do about them? In his mind he heard whistles and the whistles made sense to him but when he vocalized them the creature didn't understand. Why? Did she not know whistles? No. Because those strange sounds were her whistles! That was it! But... what had "hello" meant? Perhaps he should say it, then he would understand.

So, he tilted his head to the side again and opened his mouth to say the words. "Heeeeeeheeeeeeoooooooo!" He whistled. No. That wasn't right. "Heeeeeeeooooooo!" Something missing. The "l" sound. Hmm... That one was hard. He closed his mouth, thought for a moment while he moved his tongue around in his mouth then he tested the "l" sound. "Llllllllll." Now he was ready!

So with the largest smile he could muster the dolphin whistled out as loud as he could. "HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOO!" He did it! The same word she said and-- all at once it clicked. Once he uttered his first land word it all made sense. Other words came unbidden to his mind and while they were foreign they put landcritter words to his mind whistles. He blinked at her, a new light in his eyes as he started to understand her a little bit better.

Now, for what he had asked before. "Doooooo you swiiiiiim?" His mouth was still unused to the foreign words and as such his singsong voice had a strange accent to it. "This oooonnneee swim, he likes!" Strange words for a strange landcreature. It was still fun saying new things.
