A shower of dirt sprayed over her and she flinched, scrambling to her feet. Also, it was thundering.
What's thunder?
Before she could parse the thought, she realized something somewhat more alarming: the prey was charging at her, enormous and thundering. For a split second she simply froze, staring amber eyes locked wide on Gadanai.
Then she turned, bolting, trying to race off around the elephant, using her agility to avoid the charge and nip between the trees. It wasn't a combat tactic, exactly; her tail was tucked between her hind legs. Sure, she was using her agility to maneuver, but really she just wanted to get the hell out of there.
Maybe if she was lucky, the elephant would hit a tree trunk, instead.
And hopefully not just knock it down and keep coming.
As she tried to dodge past it, a strange large pillar thing that she could only assume was an elephant foot lashed out, kicking into her with an impossible force. She had time to think, as she catapulted back through the air, how surprisingly fast the creature was--and then she impacted a tree with a thud.
There was a series of quiet "cracks," and the dingo realized she was lying in the dirt. Sharp pain lanced through her head and the entire right side of her body. She wanted out. Her scrambling race to stand up and flee the monstrosity was punctuated by pained yelps, her racing gallop as she turned to flee distinctly lopsided.
