Kallista hesitated after hearing Todd. He wasn't really in any shape to hunt, but he was clearly excited to. She missed seeing him like this. "Well, alright. I guess you can help. Not really sure what all there is to catch here other than fish, though. So I guess fish will have to do. It's really all I can catch anyway."

Kallista looked over at Todd before walking closer to the water. She figured she should try to catch a fish. It seemed like the fish here were rather small, but they were better than nothing, right? Maybe there was something else around here, something that wasn't tiny fish. She figured she could look later. For now, she focused on what was right in front of her.

She crouched over the water, watching it carefully for flickers of silver. Her eyes darted this way and that, following any ripples in the water. A flicker of silver alerted her. Her paw quickly darted out and she managed to snag her claws in the fish. She pulled it out and flopped it on the ground beside her, where she quickly killed it. It was a bit bigger than the one she had caught before, but was still hardly a meal.

Todd seemed pleased to be allowed to help and as Kallista moved closer to the water, he dragged himself closer as well, not quite energetic enough to pull himself to all four paws. He watched her movements closely before turning to look deep into the water, seeing the familiar glitters there. As he often did he made the mistake of becoming hypnotized by the flickers and shimmers of the pretty little things in there, and he shot upright as Kallista struck out with a paw and brought back with it a wriggling fish.

She quickly put its wriggles to a stop and Todd stared at it for a while. He wondered childishly if maybe he'd be able to throw the fish out of the water like he did when he was playing with rocks or those little piles of bones. After snapping up the fish without a second thought, he sucked in his breath and focused hard on the water in front of him.

A large splash erupted from the water in front of him, dousing him completely with water. Clearly that wasn't something he'd thought about... The silver fox yelped in shock and shook himself, quivering violently, before he began to sniff around hopefully to see if any fish had been blown out of the water.

Kallista watched as Todd snatched the fish up and focused on the water. It didn't seem like he was trying to catch any of the fish. "What are yo-auugh!" As she spoke, a loud splash erupted from the water. Next thing she knew, she and Todd became completely drenched in water.

Her fur clung to her, dripping water all over. She let out another yelp as Todd began shaking violently, spattering her with even more water. "What was that for?" she nearly shrieked. She despised water and getting wet. She shook her fur, trying to get as much water off as possible. Kallista looked over at Todd and saw him sniffing around, as if searching for something. "Did any fish come out from that? I certainly hope so," she murmured, tail flicking in annoyance.

Todd kept on snuffling around with his nose to the ground, looking for fallen fish. It took a few moments, but he found one! Not a small one, either. It was flapping around, looking as though it was trying to get back to the water before he impaled it brutally on his claws of sharp labradorite. He showed it gleefully to Kallista as the helpless creature continued to twitch, before he wolfed it down all in one.

"Yeah, I found that!" Todd picked the pieces from between his claws and turned towards Kallista as he was doing so. His ears twitched and he tilted his head far to one side in confusion before he grinned broadly, baring sharp little fangs. "What happened?" he asked ironically, before he gave a small giggle and put his paw back on the ground with a clink. "You look funny!"

Then he started looking expectantly around for some more fish.

"Well, at least there's one fish." Kallista shook her fur again before grunting. "You know plenty well what happened." She finished shaking her fur, but it was still wet. Just not as wet. Her fur fluffed up a bit. She blinked and looked at her reflection. Her fur was plastered against her body. For once, her fur was clean. Wet, but clean. One could clearly see now that her fur was in fact white, not a dusty gray. And one could also see that she had spots. They were quite visible now, when cycles earlier, they had not been.

"Funny, huh? Well. I suppose that's what happens when one gets splattered with water unexpectedly," she murmured, tail flicking. "Especially one like me. One who doesn't like water. At all." She watched as Todd looked around for more fish. "Are there any others?" She herself didn't feel like looking, and instead watched Todd look. She then grew bored and began licking her fur. It didn't taste of dust, but rather fish. She didn't really like the taste, but it was better than dust, so she continued licking.

"I think there'll be more! I bet I blew out all the fish in the puddle," Todd didn't quite get why Kallista was so disgruntled or even seem to pick up on that fact, but he laughed anyway, his jaws baring sharp white teeth. To prove his point he looked around the pond, sniffing impatiently, but didn't find anything. A trifle disappointed, the silver fox returned his sodden self to Kallista's side.

He tipped his head as he looked at her. She'd all changed since he'd cast his spell. Grumpier maybe, but she looked different too. Not so dark. She looked funny with all the wet fur hanging down, but now he could see all those spots. He nodded in agreement. "I didn't used to like water after I fell in, but... But I'm not hurting when I'm in the water and I like that better than just bein' dry."

He shrugged and shook his head. "No more fish. Mustn't have been many in that pond." Then he looked quizzically at Kallista as she started licking herself. "Whatcha doing that for?"

Kallista flicked her tail. "Oh, did you now? Sure doesn't seem like it," she murmured. "Well, I don't like water. Never did. Never will." She resumed her licking. She then stopped and looked at Todd. "Well, it just...it's the way I clean myself, I guess. I don't normally do it since my fur is usually very dusty, and as I mentioned earlier, I don't like the taste of dust. But now that it's wet, it doesn't taste dusty. Besides, it's kind of cold and licking myself helps a bit." She shrugged and resumed licking.

When she finished, she began to look around the room. "I wonder if there's anything else in this place? Something that isn't a fish. Those fish are hardly enough, and there's not a lot of them." Kallista got up and began to sniff around. Perhaps there was a mouse nearby? She continued sniffing, but didn't manage to catch the scent of anything else. She grunted in annoyance before turning to Todd. "Can you smell anything?"

"Well, I think I did well," the bedraggled fox declared puffing out his chest. "Do you like water now? I fell in and felt better." Whilst Todd's probity was questionable, his memory was unquestionably bad. He certainly hadn't been jumping for joy the last time they'd met. But since his wounds, Todd had quite taken to the water. It soothed those aches and pains with cold.

"I dunno. I never seen anything. 'Sides, fish aren't that hard catching. I can do those. ya don't gotta move far and if you do you go in headfirst and they disappear!"

He raised his nose up in response to her question, his nostrils twitching slightly as he tried to pinpoint something. There was something, he just couldn't quite tell what. but still, it was warm and nice, and the fox slowly pushed himself up onto shaking limbs to limp in the direction of the scent.

Kallista flicked her tail. "Alright, you did well," she chuckled. "While you may have fallen in, I have not. Even if I did, I would still most certainly not like water at all," she grunted.

"Yes, fish are easy to catch. Certainly one of the most easiest things, but you have to make sure you're quick, otherwise you won't catch any." She watched as Todd sniffed the air. "Do you smell anything?" She continued to watch as he got up and began to limp somewhere. Kallista slowly followed, wondering what scent Todd had found.

@Todd

Todd puffed out his chest and beamed with pride. If someone else said you did well, you had to have done amazing! At least, that's what his sudden strut implied. He was momentarily distracted as he turned back to Kallista, but then was distracted from being distracted and turned back to th scent trail. It was getting stronger, so it easily stole his attention back.

It was nearby now, whatever it was. He could tell that much. Excitement made his fur stand on end as he looked for the source.

He'd followed it to a nearby rise, where sparse vegetation sprouted in tiny clusters.

And when he was there, he saw it- some kind of creature, about half as big as he was. Although it was just outside of Todd's knowledge, it was in fact some kind of cave rabbit. Todd lowered himself to the ground and, stupidly, looked like he was about to sprint for it.
