When she said that she would be guarding her friend's chrysalis, she had meant it. Iris was starving, looking frailer than she ever had before. Her ribs showed and she was quite boney. But she had to, for her friend. She would feel so awful if she left and the pink chrysalis was shattered and her friend was hurt. Ghost was coming back, she just knew it.
It had been a while since the hybrid last had gotten up to eat, and she lazily turned a head towards the waters, watching a school of fish swim around innocently. The idea of eating was so tantilizing... she drooled a little bit before she pounced upon her prey, mouth filled with water and fish flopping around. She chomped down once or twice and swallowed her only meal in a few weeks. Then she turned around, hearing a slight cracking noise. The stone. Iris tilted her head, and despite her excitement, she approached carefully, slowly... "Ghost?" She whispered, "say something."

His world had been dark for many cycles. Although used to it, Ghost couldn't help but want more. It was unfair how everyone else got to see, but here he was, left alone without proper eyes. Leon and Makyna tried to care for him, but he wouldn't have it. He wasn't somebodies child nor was he the type to accept help like that. He ran away, disappeared into another cave for many cycles until emerging once finally and meeting a great dragon, Baratheon, that too tried to help, tried to be his friend even, but this time the dragon didn't last. It wasn't long before the dragon had been injured in a fight and seemingly forgot about the blind wolf shortly after he woke up. Ghost was even there for him, but the dragon didn't remember him when he woke up. It hurt, but not more than the water that filled his lungs weeks before this day.
Memories were flashing about in his head from the beginning of his life up to now. He remembered meeting Kerberos, the three headed dog he hunted lizards with. He liked that dog, but he hadn't found him since. Kerberos was friendly and complimented him on his lizard hunting capabilities despite being blind, but he had to survive for those cycles somehow. Lizard hunting was all he could do.
He met others, though none made a lasting effect on the wolf like Iris had. His chest ached when he wasn't around her, so thankfully he never was for long. He remembered playing hide and seek with her, though he was pretty bad. All the memories led up until now where he slept confined in his chrysalis, a large pink stone jutting up from the waters edge about six feet tall.
A crack had formed, the man growning to be too big for his chrysalis. With that one, more followed, spiderwebbing across the stone until it finally shattered and sent the wolf man spilling out onto the sands of Fornax. Water lapped at his spine as he coughed and tried to breathe, his new hands instinctively moving to sit him up, though his body was used to the quadraped form he'd spent so long in, though now it just felt wrong. He repositioned himself in whatever felt comfortable, and that was on his butt with his legs spread out in front of him.
His eyes opened finally, though he wasn't expecting much. Instead, light so bright nearly blinded him, leaving his ice blue eyes squinted and blinking. His heart raced and finally his eyes had aclimated to the bright light. Light he's never seen. His eyes darted around then, his breathing shallow and heart not once slowing, though skipping a best every now and then.
His gaze fell upon Iris then and he didn't need to question her. He knew who she was and he smiled. "Iris!" he grinned, looking right at her. He reached out with a hand, though he hadn't quite realized that he was different besides his eye sight. "I can see..." His palm reached out then and cupped the side of her face, but that was when he noticed that this was different... His gaze moved from her face to his hand, up his arm, and then to his pristine white body... Then he looked back at her, looking as though he were about to cry with happiness.

The hybrid watched the spinel stone crackle and shift, the layers of stone becoming flimsy and easy to peel away. The large and dark shadow that had been growing beneath the surface moved, morphing into a wolf-like shape... yet not. But it had to be Ghost. It just had to be. Suddenly, the chrysalis brought forth a mass of pristine white fur tinted by pastel pinks. It tumbled out onto the sands of the shores of Fornax, eyes shut tightly. Slowly, its--no, hands extended outwards to push his new form upwards, one much more reminiscent of a species long gone, or perhaps even to exist far in the future.
The musculature of her friend was much more prominent, with thick and strong legs to hold him upright. As his icy eyes opened, the wolf-man begin to look about wildly, squinting. The brows of Iris's eyes raised and a smile found itself wriggling its way onto her maw. Once Ghost's eyes fell upon her, Iris only had to worry for a moment about him recognizing her. The hybrid saw the recognition in his eyes, and she lowered her head. The man raised a hand, cupping her cheek with it. Leaning into it, she rumbled softly, "you're back..." But when he said that he could see, she opened her eyes and stared into his, smiling softly. "I can show you all of the caves now... we can play hide-and-seek for real..." As the man observed his new form and looked to her with joyful, tear-filled eyes, she simply butted his chest. "I really missed you, Ghost."

She seemed so excited to see him and he her. For him, he had everything he had ever wanted - his eyesight and someone to be his friend. He nodded many times as she spoke, agreeing to everything she said and more. They could play all the games. He was unstoppable now.
"Yes, of course!" There were tears in his eyes when she butted hia chest and his arms wrapped around the sea dragon in a tight hug. His face pressed into her and he smiled, almost curling around the younger girl.
The longer he was awake, the more he remembered what happened. He vaguely remembered swimming with Iris, though he was blind then... All he had was sounds. He remembered hitting the water then and his eyes opened. His smile disappeared and he pulled away from Iris a little, though his hands remained on her shoulders. "What happened?" He frowned a little, though he didn't fault Iris for whatever happened, especially before he was sure what exactly happened.
