Scarborough's face squinted up in displeasure, barely able to hide it, at the idea of looking more like his supposed father. While the two of them were starting to get on better terms, the simple fact of the matter was that Kerberos didn't have any clue what Scar was going through.

Besides, Bone was a lot better for company. He nudged his snout into Bones and put a paw over the rat, sinking his large, hook-like claws into the prey animals flesh. "Alright, alright, I'll give it a shot," he finally insisted, pushing himself upright with one paw and raising his bloodied claws to the wall.

He didn't exactly watch himself draw, his four crimson eyes unfocusing as he tried to come up with something else. He went to a quiet little place in his mind where his imagination ran free; and while he was not the most creative, he did come up with something.

Again he started with a circle, he always did. This one was a little less lopsided and a bit more tall and ovally. His four eyes squinted and he blinked at the shape, grumbling to himself, and he scrapped away at the wall. Blood trickled down the lines he made in the wall. A weird oval with four tearing clawmarks under it, blood soaking the whole mess.

He grinned at it, reaching down to get more of the rich, dark paint. He smeared a large blur of blood at the top of the oval, flicking it upwards, watching it drip down. It was a start, but his foreleg was getting tired and he flopped down, staring up at the mess curiously.

"I don't know, Bones, it looks pretty lousy."

The half-lame dog watched the hybrid work with an encouraging smile. It was nice to see someone else paint on the walls that he had marked so many times before and with pricked ears he waited until Scarborough was done.

At a sturdy paw dropping to the ground once more Bones sat himself up and inspected the painting with a tilted head. "It's not lousy," he said, tail thumping off the cave floor. "I like it."

The last thing Bones really wanted was for the hybrid to say something like, 'you're just saying that!' It was clear in the dog's tone that his words were genuine, the spark in his eyes showing gentle encouragement.

"I like your art," the dog nodded. "If your paws get tired you can rest them on the wall, too."

Bones said he liked it and frankly, Scarborough could tell he was being sincere. The feathers adorning the top of his head lowered as he relaxed, flashing a grin towards Bones. With a wiggle and a huff, he situated himself closer to the wall and brought up his claws again, this time applying a swath of blood to the lines on the right.

He swiped up and then back down at an angle, creating a strange, large blur of a bloody caret at the bottom of the drawing. He tilted his head at it and then, after a moment, glanced back at Bones.

"Alright, so, see... This is like my crest," he offered to his uncle, pointing at the top. "And those are wings. It's kinda... I mean, it looks nothing like me, but, I guess it's kinda neat." He wasn't sure exactly how to explain his doodling, how it all was basically made up bullshit... But if it made Bones happy, he supposed it was worth something.

It warmed his heart to have someone think he was good at something, anyway. An idea flashed through his mind and he turned back to the drawing on the wall, taking his cleaner paw and clawing deep into the stone. Blood continued to pool in the divets, but he only grinned harder.

"And now he's got stripes, just like you!"
