Sky took a deep breath of air as they explored the old cave they had been hatched in only a few cycles ago. They recognized the Waterfall as soon as they approached it, although it was hard to miss. They remembered being here when they hatched, and they remembered being with someone. And someone else had been there as well, teaching them about their magic. But who?

That was all their memory had to offer.

The last few cycles were completely blank to them. They remembered nothing other than the cave that they were currently in. Pisces, they had learned it was called. They remembered being taught, and they remembered all they had learned, but could not remember their teachers. All they remembered was the cave.

Sky sat, peering over the edge of the deep lagoon. They thought long and hard, desperate to remember something, but to no avail. They needed help, and soon.

Splashy was still running away from the two gembounds she had been with when she skidded to a stop upon seeing a familiar sight. It was Sky! Her face seemed to light up almost immediately and she bounded over toward them. "Sky! I h-haven't seen you in a while!" Splashy had wandered away from them for a bit, only to lose sight of them completely. It had been cycles since the last time she saw them.

She looked into the lagoon as well, and suppressed a shudder at the sight of so much water. She didn't want to fall in, as that definitely wouldn't be any fun. She could see a few fish here and there, but it was mostly empty. She then looked back at Sky, a small smile on her face.

Sky looked up in shock at the sound of another cat calling to them. She looked familiar, long pale gray fur covering her. She seemed about the same age as Sky, with an unusually stuttering voice. The cat seemed to know their name, but they couldn't quite remember who this feline was. Sky simply stared at her in confusion. "Have we met before?" they asked cautiously.

Splashy stared at Sky for a moment as her words registered. Shock crossed her face. "You...You d-don't..remember m-me?" Her paws felt rooted to the stone. How could they not remember her? Had she really been gone that long? It had been about 3 cycles, that was an awfully long time...Had she been away from Sky for so long that...they no longer remembered her?

She had to do something to try and make her remember! "I-I'm Splashy, w-we hatched nearby and met...Don't you r-remember?" her voice cracked at the end as she struggled not to cry. She took a deep breath and stared at Sky, her head ever so slightly tilted.

Sky sighed, feeling terrible as they heard the sound of a voice crack. Splashy. An interesting name. "Listen, Splashy. I'm sorry, I really am. You seem familiar.. I just don't remember you." They tore their eyes away, their chest aching with guilt. "I don't remember anything." They stared again into the lagoon, their paws close to the edge. Their reflection made them uncomfortable. Their stone had been hidden from view by a long, unusual tuft of fur. How long had that fur been there? They had so many questions, and yet they were unsure if any of them would be answered.

Splashy stared at Sky some more, her paws shifting. She was told that she was familiar...But they still didn't really remember anything. Perhaps it would be up to them to help them remember? They thought back to what had happened when they first met. They had met someone else, Zevruu, who had started teaching them some things...

"W-when we met, we also saw a-another. A Serval named Zevruu. He t-taught us some things, like what gems are, and some of the other places. He also t-taught us about the different spells. Do you r-remember any of that?" she asked.

Sky nodded slowly, taking in the information that was being fed to them. A serval named Zevruu. A faint memory of the serval's appearance popped into their brain. A young male with ears way too big for him, and a reddish gem in his shoulder. That was all they could remember of the serval, other than what they had been taught by him. They nodded again at the question Splashy presented to them, this time more confident in their answer.

Splashy watched Sky, holding her breath. When they began to nod slowly, she let her breath out. So they could remember, even if it was just a little bit. That was a start. "Is there anything else you remember?" she wondered, her head tilted. She couldn't think of anything else...She had wandered away from Sky around that time, and later came across a couple of other gembounds...One of which didn't seem to like her.

Sky sighed in disappointment, shaking their head. "All I remember is what I learned, but not who or what taught me." They couldn't even remember where their memory dropped off. They tried to think of what they had been doing just a day ago to perhaps jar their memory. Maybe they had been out exploring the caves. Whatever they had been doing, they had ended up back at their starting point. "I remember this cave."

"Well...Z-Zevruu taught you." By this point the cat was just repeating herself. Sky already knew that Zevruu had taught them, because she already told her that. She sighed before looking down at the water. Upon hearing Sky's words, she looked back up at them. "This cave? Have...you been anywhere else besides this cave?"
