HEY...you look mighty tasty...

For what felt like a lifetime he had been trapped in this...shell. His mind had been awake for the longest of times and even now he shifted and rolled within his chrysalis. Images of things he did not understand would occasionally flash before his mind's eye.
Stories of adventure and horror. Of faces that felt familiar, but was just barely out of reach from grasping who they were.

Before too long his home began enclosing on him and the hybrid grew extremely restless. He twisted and moved constantly, desperate to find just the right position to be comfortable with. Yet he just could not find it. Annoyance grew until his tail began lashing around and clawed paws pushed hard against the inner walls of the carnelian chrysalis.

His persistent shoving and lashing of his tail as much as he could get it to move had finally paid off. The chrysalis began to splinter, webs of cracks spreading all over until finally a shattering was heard and he swept out of the gem. The beast gasped in surprise before he ultimately began coughing harshly. Vomiting out the chrysalis ooze that had more or less kept him alive for his time in the chrysalis.

Regaining his composure the gemling lifted his wide amber eyes to stare out from the den he had hatched in. His long muzzle jilted even higher and nostrils flared as he took in the scents. He let out a guttural noise. A sound mixing between a deep rumbling of an alligator and a growling of a dingo. It was time to delve into this world and adventure! His paws scrambled over the mushy ground. Desperate to get him out of the den and out into the open

Just outside the den the little hybrid was hatching within, a chrysalis remained hidden in the muck, promptly deciding it was ready to break open as well. The safety of the chrysalis being instinctively deemed unnecessary, as the ability to move became restrained. He struck with back hooves against the hard wall, occasionally trying to strike with a coiled foreleg. In time, with much of his energy burned, something gave. In an instant, the pressure changed, movement sucking him out of the darkness into a brighter world (even if not by much). With a slosh, Wisgi rolled onto the ground, all legs flailing in the air, twisted awkwardly until the situation was properly assessed.

Okay, okay... you've moved them around before, now just... yeah, he lead himself through the process of straightening himself out, rolling to his belly with legs tucked under him. Now, time to see what they can really do! All too soon, as the energy was still washed from him. As soon as he thought he was up, his face was hitting the ground, legs twisting around each other all over again. There was a weird squeal from the moose, frustration making his attempts to get to hoof all the more complicated. Whoever said that this was evolutionary didn't have legs!

HEY...you look mighty tasty...

Noises. All kinds of new noises filled his ears that twitched and turned. His strange elongated muzzle parted open, showing his jagged fangs as his tongue lolled out the front. His gator like tail swept side to side behind him, sloshing around in the mud and debris. Finally he scrambled al lthe more, desperate to get the right movement so he wasn't walking funny. He sniffed and snuffled around the ground, curious to see what all he could see as he continued a few more steps only to turn around and scurry back towards the den where he had been. Images flooded his mind, but none made sense so they were quickly forgotten and when there was a sudden new sound of something breaking his head jerked up high. "hhheeeEEEEEYYYYAWHTWASTHAT!" His voice came raspy at first before growing in sound as he quickly fumbled around to search for the noise.

It was then that he saw it. Some strange creature that had their legs tangled after just having face planted into the mud. A loud bellowing laugh escaped the young creature as he practically slid right over to the moose. "HI YOU ARE WHAT? WHY FACE IN MUDD?! YOU'RE AWFULLYMUDDY"

Falling so horribly was bad, but as if it weren't bad enough, a toothy creature slid across the muddy ground, laughing at his inability to stand on his own feet. With ears now pinned, he adjusted himself to lay on his belly, sitting up with legs tucked neatly. A glance over himself revealed that he was, indeed, very muddy. The sight of it forced a shrug out, and that was the last of his acknowledgement to it (for now). Wisgi stared at the hybrid creature with widened eyes, a bit nervous and very shocked by the sight of it. He did his best to stay relaxed, reminding himself that he was still a lot bigger than this... creepy little thing.

"Who 're ya?" he said, snorting a little afterward. He took a sniff of the scaled critter, trying to be mindful of the swinging tail with spikes. With one, cautious heave, the big brute stood himself up onto his hooves. Suddenly, the worry about the toothy hybrid melted away. Although still nightmare-creepy, it wouldn't be killing him, today.

Anahgo continued to watch with wide amber eyes. His tail continuously lashing about behind him. He nearly awed over the height this fellow gemling had as it rolled around and rested on his belly before standing up. "I think i am cALLED ANAHGOYATHAT'S ME! WHO ARE YOU!?" At first he started out calm, pondering over his name, but soon excitement caught up and he was once again unable to contain himself as he was quickly shouting his words again. A wide toothy grin spread over his elongated muzzle like thing. He was very unaware that he looked like a strange mutant creature, but honestly he probably wouldn't care if he did. He felt good. He must obviously LOOK good. So who cares. He was here! And he was ready to live!

The heavy, fat alligator was virtually black in the muck of the swamp. He'd been lazing nearby--sleeping? Or drowsing, it was hard to tell. Even Dragon could not always tell when he was awake, and when not. As it was he was laying nearly submerged quite close to the nest he'd created, where the stone of the dingo had been a bit buried in the mud.

There was another creature here, he noticed: something lanky and large and brown. Furry. It did not frighten him, but when the egg began to crack, he hesitated.

The plan had been to greet the newcomer first, to introduce himself... establish himself in its life. Yet now he wanted to see how it would handle itself.

Still, now the brown creature had stood up--and it was a very large threat. One kick of its hooves could easily harm--Anahgoya...?

What in hell does that mean?

The alligator at last moved. His massive bulk parted from the mud with which he seemed a part, a loud squelch of air sucking down beneath him as he broke free. He turned his body, toothy shoe-shaped face swivelling slowly to face the moose and his own new child.

As a warning, he opened his jaws, the sparking fire in his gullet igniting. A brief, short blast of flame erupted into the air, reflecting over the mud and in his own dark eyes. Then he clapped his jaws shut with a loud snap, embers drifting off. His voice erupted slow and rumbling.

"The little one is my child," he growled. "Anahgoya is not to be harmed."

Let us see how he deals with this other stranger--and observe the stranger, as well. I can tell him, in time, how he came to be--and tell him of the realities of this place.

How he had killed the creature's "mother," consumed her, and created Anahgo. How only the strongest survived. How stronger sprang from the deaths of the weak.

The babbling of the creature resulted in a brief snort-laugh from Wisgi, amused. As terrifying as this little thing looked, it had quite a lot of energy to waste around. With a little more purpose, the moose stretched down to get a good sniff of Anahgo. He had hardly the time to do so before something big and somewhat similar to the much, much smaller thing he'd met first rose up from the mud and fog, snapping his flaming jaws closed. Wisgi's eyes grew large, and his butt tucked a little as his lanky legs fumbled for steps backwards.

A nervous glance was given to Anahgo, a big ear turning to face the fellow hatchling before his big yellow eyes went back to the large predator that was low to the ground, but full of bigger teeth. The herbivore hardly had interest in being a meal, but a spark within him held him firmly where he was. Slowly, carefully, he spoke, "My name is Wisgi. Your... child frightens me a bit, but now not at all with you here. I'll.. I'll defend myself if you try to eat me! But then I'll run, because I'm sure I could run faster than you."

He gave a timid nod of reassurance to himself, his big legs still a little weird to stand on, but by golly he'd sure make one hell of an effort to haul ass if needed. As it was, he needed to investigate this situation as thoroughly as possible. Perhaps they could be allies; creatures to eat those who threaten him with more teeth. It certainly seemed a good idea. Bravery bubbled within him - or perhaps it was utter stupidity that came with newborn ignorance - as he stretched out his neck and nose toward the big, scaly beast to give him a sniff, taking in the smell of a water dwelling meat-eater who tamed smoke and fire. Something he failed to notice was his own hackles standing from head to toe in fear of what could very well happen, ears still tipped back and eyes full of worry.

Just be ready to run, you fool.

HEY...you look mighty tasty...

Way before the big brown, long legged thing even had time to answer little Anahgo movement behind the hybrid caused both of his strange ears to twist back and listen. The suctioning pop of something freeing itself from the mud instantly made the little creature spin around with wide amber eyes. Jowls snapped shut loudly, embers flying out in all directions and amazement filled him. The big beasts words filled his twitching ears and he nearly grinned ear to ear. There was no hesitation as Anahgo scrambled over to the beast, wiggling butt caused by his gator tail trying to wag like a canines. He crawled up Dragon's leg, scrambling all the way up until he was proudly perched upon the alligator's head. "Why would we eat Wisgi. Is he soMETHINGTHATWEARESUPPOSETOEAT?!? FATHER?!" His eyes went suddenly huge just thinking about the idea of eating. However, the thought of eating this Wisgi in front of him did not sound like such a good idea.

At least not for him. He was way more smaller than this Wisgi. What a strange name. "Strange name. Wwweeeeeeesssggggeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Anahgo does not know," A frown marred the little hybrids features as he tried to pronounce the herbivores name

Dragon gave a quiet, indulgent chortle as Anahgo scrambled up him, perching atop his head. He didn't mind. It felt natural; and the creature's hyperactive, frantically fiery nature already put him in mind of his other children.

"You will get along well with Merrow, and Imp--provided you don't kill one another," he rumbled wryly.

"But no. This--Wis-gi, is not something we must eat. We eat anything that we can catch, and kill, when we are hungry, my son. But those who can speak often can prove useful allies. What is strongest--a single powerful beast, or a small, weak one with many allies to come to its aid?"

Confident that his lesson was to be wholly ignored--if this child was his blood, at all, then it had probably paid no attention whatsoever--Dragon turned his gaze to the moose calf. He did not mind it sniffing him. The creature was by no means small, but it did not seem, somehow, to be a predator.

And his odor was that of rotten marsh and decaying fish. It would hardly be appetizing, he imagined; who was he to stop the young one's curiosity?

"In time, Anahgo-ya, I will teach you of the world, of how to hunt, of life, death and of rot. Of our Great Father, Aquarian. But for now--I know what you are. You are dog, a creature of flaming spirit who refused to surrender in death--and you are me. And this creature--this creature is...?"

Dragon eyed Wisgi, tilting his boatlike head--though not enough to dislodge his new child--waiting for an answer. From either of them, really--or from both.

Even with the rather intimidating statement, the way it was jabbered out by Anahgo made it amusing, so the megafauna calf chuckled. Expressions and all, the little thing was quite the personality, although it seemed a possibility that his fetlocks might get nibbled if he didn't pay attention. Still, it seemed this bigger version had smart things to say, so perhaps if Anahgo listened, there was no cause for alarm. Wisgi stood up straight, ears erecting as Dragon spoke of his knowledge of the world, of which he would bestow upon his son.

Then, that question was posed of what he was... what exactly was he? After a moment of pondering, Wisgi closed his eyes and dug deep. He wasn't sure where he was reaching, but he stretched for it, the word coming from his mouth as soon as it came to him.

"I am a moose," he declared. A nod was given to confirm his statement, a back leg stamping the shallow water. Wisgi tilted his head back at Dragon. What he'd offered his son was desired by the calf as well. A glance was stolen toward Anahgoya, a slight smile curving the corners of his mouth upward.

"Will you teach me things, too?" he inquired suddenly. There was no parent here to claim him and, somehow, he simply knew. There was no real desire for a parental figure, but a little guidance from a leader would certainly carry him forward in life much easier than stumbling around to become someone's next meal.
