Under a large tree, an opal chrysalis shivered. Not in fear, but out of the Gembound inside's utter distaste of the fact that there was absolutely no room at all. Cuanakrys kicked at the inside of the gem, hoping to break out. She broke the inside of the gem, and burst out of the horrific place. She looked back, but realized that there was a GIGANTIC TREE behind her, with roots that looked like writhing bodies. She walked away from the tree, with satisfaction. Cuanakys was now free.

Thank the Gods there were trees in this room of the cave or Tukluk would be having an awful time trying to navigate. There were probably insects here that were bigger than him! And gross fish that would try to eat him if he tried to swim in here. Besides, he wasn’t entirely sure he could swim, and the thought of swimming through this murky water made his fur poof out in agitation. Also, he was really scared. It was so hard to see in here, and he didn’t trust even the things he could see. This room was downright eerie…

So when he heard the noise of shattering stone echoing through the mist, he let out a loud screech of fear and clung tightly to the bark of the tree he was on, squeezing his bright burnt-orange eyes shut for many long seconds. Then he slowly opened them again and told himself he was being silly, and that he should go check out the noise. He needed to be brave! He needed to show everyone how brave he was! Yeah! Still, as he leapt from tree to tree, trying to find the source of the sound, he shook with fear. What if it was a monster…?

Cuanakrys heard a screech. She ran towards the sound. She shook her head, citing to herself how foolish she was. Cuanakrys was intent on food, though. Maybe a little bug snack wouldn't hurt. She found a beetle and snapped it up. It tasted disgusting though. Cuanakrys shook her head in disgust as she sauntered towards the sound, spotting a tiny monkey in the fog. "uh... hi?" said the juvenile red wolf as she saw the monkey.

He had to go lower. He was too high up in the trees to see anything down below. The thought of getting closer to whatever had made that noise terrified him, but he needed to do it! He slowly descended the tree he clung to, and then squinted through the mist to try and see whatever it was that was nearby… ’Uh… hi?’ came a voice directly below him. He immediately let out another screech and scrambled back up the tree as quickly as he could, his heart hammering in his chest. Then he turned a bit so he could stare down at whoever had spoken.

It was a… he didn’t know what it was. He’d never seen a wolf before… Oh! It was a wolf, then! He wasn’t sure how knew that, but he did. Actually, it looked a lot like that one wolf who had tried to crush him in Eridanus. So he had seen a wolf before. Quickly, he realized he was being a coward in front of another Gembound and tried to rectify that. “H-hello!” he said back, hating that his voice quavered. “Are you the one who made that awful noise earlier? It was so loud!”

Cuanakrys jumped back. She had spaced out after she said hi. And she was getting to the good part of the daydream, too! "Yeeeesssss, i made the noise. i simply broke out of my rock prison. it shattered, and that made the noise." Cuanakrys replied, in a slurred, tired voice, with a hint of sarcasm. "what about it?" Cuanakrys then proceeded to space out, not really caring what the answer was, letting her eyes halfway glaze over and her daydream take place.

Tuck snorted at the wolf’s response to his question. She wasn’t so scary, after all! In fact, she seemed… a little weird. Hmph. He quietly made a decision and then descended the tree once more, but he still didn’t go all the way to the ground. I mean, she was weird. What if she decided to eat him or something? He needed to keep the high ground. He stopped at a spot that was closer to her, but still above her, and looked down on her with judgment on his face. Her eyes were halfway closed and she seemed… far away. With a snort, he asked her, “What are you doing?”

"i'm not really doing anything here, per say. i'm doing things in a place that may or may not exist on another plane of reality known as my imagination. in other words, i'm daydreaming." Cuanakrys replied as she started to sit down. She decided to not do anything to the monkey. after all, he never did anything to her.

Tukluk honestly had no idea how to react to this wolf. He blinked down at her awkwardly as he tried to think of something to say in return. “Um…” he started, staring at her for a moment. “What — what are you daydreaming about?” That was the best he could come up with. At this point, he sort of just wanted to leave because this wolf was weirding him out, but he decided to stick it out. She didn’t seem to want to hurt him or anything. He gained a bit of confidence and crawled down the tree a little more.

"Hmm. I am currently daydreaming about a terrible war. There is blood scattered across the tunnels. I a also daydreaming about a deep abyss, filled with wonderful creatures. Which one would you like to hear about first?" Cuanakrys asked the monkey. She decided to lay down, in a position where she could sleep if necessary.

Okay, this wolf was officially messed up in the head. A terrible war? Blood scattered across the tunnels? Man, Tuck was too young to be hearing about any of this! He was sincerely freaked out now and looked the huge wolf (compared to him) up and down. “You’re crazy,” he said aloud in a very condescending tone — which he immediately regretted. If the wolf truly was crazy then she probably wouldn’t feel bad about hurting him. She could just step on him and he’d be monkey paste on the ground! But he needed to look brave! Maybe if he puffed out his fur a little he’d look intimidating… Pfft, yeah right. He was toast.
