And when it's over, we can be together

I'll never be afraid to die again, I'll always be there for you my friend

Orion was a massive world for a tiny fawn, but Wynter had learned the broken city quickly. A faint memory here, a distant thought there-- it all seemed so familiar that he quickly had called it home. Although he was still a child, he had grown quite significantly. Soon, his wool coat would be thick and full, and his horns had already grown into beautiful crystals.

Deciding what to do had been difficult. There was whispers of dangers and threats, so big and daunting that he had retreated deep into the shadows until it was his time. He had heard rumors of a great monster's-- Hasira's-- death, and he didn't know what it meant for the future of his home.

Things had surprisingly been quite, however. He had made his way through the entirety of Orion, and by now could navigate by staring at the ceiling alone-- those stationary stars could lead him anywhere. There were places beyond here that he longed to visit, however. His memories demanded him to explore. He kept his patience, but it was difficult. He wasn't ready. He knew he wasn't ready.

"But how do I become ready?" He murmured, casting his violet gaze skyward once more. The stars wouldn't answer him, of course, but it was difficult to live on his own for so long without getting a few quirks. His tail flicked as he stepped through the ruins, hooves in loamy ground, wandering aimlessly with a constant familiar warmth in his heart. This had been his home, his brother's home, for so long.

Taking a deep breath, the child, still so unsure of himself, pulled on his magic. He reached for the water in the air, trying to take it into his skin. He knew what he had to do, as much as he denied it... He had to become a master of his magic, so he could protect himself.

Wynter still wasn't sure he was comfortable with taking control of his own fate.

Tuck was spending far too much time in Eridanus for his liking. Actually, that wasn’t true. If it were up to his cowardly instincts, he would never leave the comfort of the trees and the warmth and the ever-presence of food. But he was becoming too comfortable with it all. How was he ever supposed to become better at anything if all he did was eat and sleep and stay in his comfort zone? As scared as he was of the world, he just had to get out there and explore it! He had to prove to himself that he could make it in a place where literally everything was bigger than him — even his own food sometimes.

And that was why he had forced himself to explore a whole other part of the Cave, a place he had never been to before — a place that didn’t have trees. But… it had old, crumbling buildings, so at least he had climb those if trouble found him. He was so light that he didn’t have any trouble hauling himself up the sides of walls provided there were at least some small holes or cracks or dents for his tiny claws to grab ahold of.

No, no, no! Stop focusing on places to hide! he admonished to himself as he slowly made his way farther into Orion. The stars above him caught his attention then, and he couldn’t help but stare up at them in wonder. “Wooow…” he breathed. “I wish I could fly so I could get closer to them…” He didn’t realize that his words could probably be heard by a Gembound nearby.

And when it's over, we can be together

As Wynter breathed in, the vapor in the air absorbed into his body, hydrating him and filling him as though he had stopped by the local pond to drink. It was a blessing to have magic like this-- he vaguely could remember that his memories' Vazi had magic of the same kind. He wasn't sure how absorbing water could protect him, other than the fact that if he had to hide somewhere for a long time it would sustain him.

His concentration and thoughts were broken rather abruptly by a tiny voice, casting a wish upon the stars. He swung his head towards the sound, blinking at the tiny figure once he located it. Someone so small could be amazed by the stars of Orion too, hm?

Wynter smiled, bowing his head to the creature. "Hello friend," he breathed, "you know, I've heard that if you make a wish on a star, someday it might come true." The second part of that was to be careful with what you wished for, but wishing for flight didn't seem too dangerous. He let it slide, shifting his stance on the loamy earth so that he wasn't directly facing the tiny creature.

"My name is Wynter." He spoke with a quiet air of confidence, ignoring the fact that his magic had shifted into something new and different in his startled state. His wool grew damp, droplets of water dripping down his neck and horns.

"Listen to me."

“Aah!” Tuck screeched, jumping a full ten feet backwards in surprise at the sudden presence of another Gembound. His heart hammered in his chest as he stared at the hybrid, and then he took a few deep breaths to calm himself, and ran-hopped forward again, trying to pretend like that hadn’t just happened. He really needed to stop thinking that every Gembound ever was trying to eat him or squash him or kill him or something equally as horrible. He opened his mouth to respond to the Gembound’s words about wishing, but then closed it again and scrunched up his eyebrows as he studied the creature.

“Are you… are you crying… out of your skin?” He stared openly at Wynter’s — he’d manage to pay attention enough to catch his name — sudden onset of… profuse sweating, is what it looked like, but animals couldn’t sweat. So the only alternative was that somehow this deer-thing could cry out of his fur or something. “Um… Are you okay?” Tuck looked the Gembound up and down as if he might be contagious or something, taking a small step backwards.

Wynter's gentle smile twitched into a frown when the tiny creature screeched in terror. It must have been quite scary to be quite small, but Wynter hoped that his body language was enough to tell the little one that he didn't mean harm. He seemed to respond fairly well to it, either way, and the young fawn blinked when the creature pointed out that he was... crying?

It was about then that Wynter realized his magic had started to push out water instead of pull it in and he blinked, shaking out his wool with a brisk wriggle and did his best to stop sweating. Almost immediately the water stopped falling off and he beamed a big, warm smile, his ears laying back.

"Sorry about that... Uhm... That's just my magic. I can absorb water, er, I guess I can even control it, now. I'm... still adjusting to that." He blinked, taking a step back. "It's kind of weird, huh?" He asked, looking rather sheepish about the whole affair.

"It shouldn't do that anymore, though. I've stopped it, I think."

"Listen to me."

Tuck shielded himself with an arm and sort of ducked when the Gembound gave his fur a good shake to get the water off. He couldn’t tell if any of the water landed on him, but he certainly made a loud noise of protest anyways. “Hey, ya think you could shake your tears off somewhere else? Ugh.” When he put his tiny arm down again, he noticed the water had stopped and the other Gembound was dry again. He listened to the boy’s explanation. Oh, so it was magic then! Well, that made it okay, he supposed. At least now the whole affair was more interesting.

“Oh, that’s cool! So, you can control water? I can control plants!” Tuck immediately started looking around for any kind of plant life so that he could show off. His Magic kicked in instinctively, his burnt-orange eyes taking on a glowing green hue as he attempted to find any small shrub or even a seed nearby. This place was no rainforest like Eridanus. There didn’t seem to be any plant life nearby. Oh, wait a minute! He turned his head back in the direction which he had just been looking. There! There was a teeny tiny glow under a rock nearby.

“Come on!” he called over his shoulder, not taking his eyes off the glow. He scampered over to the rock and gently lifted it up. Underneath, there didn’t appear to be anything but dirt, but Tuck could see the seed hiding in the earth. “You can’t see it, but there’s a seed here,” he explained. “Wanna see me make it grow?”

Wynter blinked at the idea of controlling plants, his ears flicking forward to listen to the idea. There wasn't a lot of plants here-- aside from the occasional weed in the cracks of rubble, really... He took a timid step forward as the tiny creature ran off, eyes glinting green as he went. The fawn snorted, lowering his head as he followed the little gembound over to a rock. He hauled the rock up and explained that there was a seed there, somewhere, and Wynter simply nodded.

"Oh, okay," he hummed in response to that fact, head tilting and ears flicking against his hard crystalline horns. When the monkey offered to make it grow, his violet eyes glistened with interest and he peered even closer at the loamy soil.

The tiny being seemed quite excited by the seed, and it brought a warmth to Wynter's heart. "... I think I would love nothing more than to see what you can do," he answered diplomatically, his spirit soaring with the newfound spark of curiosity. There was magic that could make things like seeds grow? Here, he was concerned with protecting himself-- and others-- but this gembound could make food. That was, if he wasn't lying.

Wynter stood very still, holding his breath, while he watched. Slowly, a droplet of water formed on his horns again, dripping down gently into the soil. While he was trying to keep the water from escaping, there was quite a bit of it stored up in his body now...

"Listen to me."

OOC: Editing in an Exit bc this thread is a month old.

The deer-thing seemed very interested in watching Tuck perform his Magic, and the boost to his confidence only helped the tiny monkey. “Okay!” he said excitedly, turning back to the look at the seed as the last of his detection spell wore off. He kept his eyes open as they turned bright green again, blocking his pupils from being seen were anyone looking directly at him. He reached for the seed with his Magic, feeling tendrils of it waft down from the gemstone in collarbone. It breached the soil and then pooled around the seed, coaxing it to grow…

A small green baby weed poked up out of the dark soil which had been hiding underneath the rock. Tuck released the spell before it exhausted him and sat back triumphantly. “There, see? I can do that with any seed I find! I can also make plants grow out of my body, and I can see plants even if they’re hidden behind stuff, which is how I found this seed! I just cast the spell and look around for any glowing green spots. The seeds are harder to see because they’re so small, but if I’m careful I can pick ‘em out!” He was very happy to be able to tell this Gembound all about it. “So whad’ya think? Cool, huh?”

Alas, Tuck would never find out whether the hybrid thought his Magic was cool, because the Gembound gave absolutely no reaction to any of it. Which was odd. Tuck stared at the deer-thing for a few seconds with his eyebrows raised, and then he grew so offended by his companion's lack of reaction that he took off farther into Orion without another word to him. Humph!
