Nassir crouched down low, eyes on the rabbit, never leaving for a second. He slowly stalked closer, taking slow, deliberate steps until he was sure that he was close enough. He bunched up his hind legs, preparing to leap. Before he could, however, something seemed to startle the rabbit and it bolted. Growling in frustration, he leaped after it, chasing it until he got tired. He sighed and began to head back toward Tuck.

"I failed to catch it. Oh well, I'll try again later." He watched the monkey eat some berries for some time before chuckling. "And don't worry, I still won't try to eat you." He wasn't sure how they saw him, as a predator or something more. It might be a while before he ever did know. For now, though, he'd do whatever he could to make sure he wasn't scared of him.

So the mighty panther had come back with nothing. Tuck didn’t know whether to feel sad or happy about that. On one hand, his new friend would remain hungry for a time, which wasn’t good. But on the other, at least now the marmoset wouldn’t have to witness the possible devouring of a rabbit. Even if it was a Lesser Gembound, that didn’t make the watching of its death any less gruesome… Although… He assumed that Nassir would have come back with a dead rabbit, not a live one. He didn’t seem the type to be a jerk and kill a creature right in front of the marmoset. So that was good, at least.

“Maybe you should become an herbivore,” Tuck joked as he ate the last of his berries. “At least then you wouldn’t have to chase after your food! Even insects are annoying to try and catch sometimes.” Tuck mostly drank tree sap as his main source of food, but he supplemented that with fruit and insects, and the insects could be downright impossible to catch if he wasn’t fast enough.

Nassir chuckled at Tuck's words. "I'm not sure I'm cut out to be an herbivore. Fruit doesn't seem all that appealing." He gave a lop sided grin. "And yes, from my days as a newly hatched cub up until...quite recently, I suppose, I would try to catch any flies that came nearby. It was fun trying to catch them. I only ever caught them a couple of times, though."

Flies?” Tuck replied in a surprised tone, trying to imagine a giant panther hopping around snatching flies out of the air. It didn’t quite… work in his head, which just made the whole idea funnier. “What would do with them?” he asked Nassir. Eat them? I mean you’re so much bigger than a fly I can’t see you getting anything out of eating one.” He paused, thinking about it. “I don’t even think I would get much out of eating one. I go for, like, crickets and beetles and stuff. At least they’re a lot bigger than flies, and they can’t buzz away.” Tuck fell silent after this, and looked around Polaris in quiet curiosity.

Nassir chuckled nervously. "Well, y'know, I was a lot smaller then. And not just flies. Other bugs too. And I...guess I mostly just did it for fun." He shrugged. "I was a cub then. A much smaller, younger cub. A lot has changed since then." He shifted his paws. He began to look around as well. He quite liked the way it was here. It was very pretty, and he often found himself just gazing around. That's what he did now, looking around as the rocks and the clusters of fungi on the ceiling. "Isn't it pretty?" he asked, tail tip flicking slightly.

OOC: This is old so I am editing an ending

Tuck was only half-listening to the panther at this point, but he did catch the last bit — the part about Polaris being pretty. “Yeah, it is,” he agreed. “Hey, have you…?” He paused, trying to think of the best way to describe the feeling inside him right then. “Do you feel… different here?” he finally asked. “Like… in the other parts of Origin Cave, I can’t feel Magic buzzing around in the air, but here, it’s like… I can feel it humming in my body.” He looked over at Nassir, wondering if the panther could feel it, too, or if he was just going crazy. “Is it just me?”

Tuck was, in fact, so enthralled by this feeling of extra energy in the air, that he wandered off, away from Nassir, without even thinking about it...

[Exit Tuck]

Words: 110+ @Nassir -- Tuck is referring to an IC reaction to the fact that posting in Polaris gives the player extra Magicka. And there's this description at the bottom of Polaris' blurb: "Visitors to this room often feel more energetic than usual, a product of an aggregation of magic that continues to grow over time."
