With a sneer lurking beneath the crystalline muzzle, Kin-Kin pulled away, and was greeted by the welcome sight of a smear of blood upon the blade's wicked point. Standing a short distance away with her muzzle, and thusly, her blade pointed towards ground, the she-wolf stood silent and ominous.

She waited patiently for a sign that would provide a hint towards their next move. The flash of their claws, a growl in their throat... Or... The feeling of the temperature rising as the air around them trembled. The golden wolf was beginning to learn their dirty tricks, and it was high time she used one or two of her own.

Like she had in the tower once upon a time, Kin-Kin closed her eyes and tapped into the magic of her gem, aiming to fade into the darkness and scuttle out of their reach like a rat.

...But nothing happened! Instead, the gilded canid was left standing there like a sitting duck, Imperia's efforts met with a yelp as the wolf was burned.

When whatever the wolf had tried to do-probably a spell-failed, and the firey spit landed on the wolf, Imperia grinned. And in such close proximity, surely they could do some more damage. Instead of relying on magic, though, he may as well just bat at her with his claws. He raised his right paw, pink claws out and aimed a swipe. That missed entirely.

also i just kinda casually changed the lyrics on this table 4 this thread specifically lmao

With the foul scent of burning fur rising from her, Kin-Kin drew back, wanting to lick the pain away. But she couldn't; now wasn't the time for that; and she'd need to put down her sword for that anyway. Before Kin-Kin knew it, they were lunging again, only to miss. That was her chance! before they could regain their footing, Kin-Kin once more tried to focus inward and let out her magic once more, trying to fade away before they had gotten over their last pathetic attempt.

Soon, Kin-Kin had indeed managed to fade away, the golden glow draining out of her fur and the ever-shifting shadows of Polaris managing to somewhat shroud her. Or at least, she hoped they would. At the very least, the wolf hoped it would throw the caracal off her trail for a moment as she calculated her next move.

Imperia growled when he missed. As he turned to try again, however, he realized she had disappeared. Where...? She had light magic, didn't she? He recalled her having done this before, in their first battle. She must have made herself disappear or something. He didn't know how it worked. He scowled.

He looked around carefully. Had she moved? Had she stayed in the same spot? He glanced around. While looking for her, he caught the eye of Aaliyah. She was watching him, her head titled, the barest hint of a frown on her face. Imperia growled at her before deciding to just guess where she was. He swiped out in front of her, hoping that she would be there.

To her surprise, disdain, and her ego's immense joy, the caracal seemed to lose track of her entirely! What should have been a moment's distraction instead became a tool to vilify them further. She truly was a master of her element! Hahaha, they'd never hear the end of this! Kin-Kin grinned a wicked and wolfish grin, and circled them until she came upon the chance to strike. Said chance came when they struck out at thin air, missing her entirely. Kin-Kin continued to creep around them until she was behind them, and then lunged.

Of course, she was aiming for the most important bit as she lunged straight for their ass with her sword!

...but it seemed it was simply not meant to be. What she'd hoped would be a truly lethal blow would have become a rather sensual tap, at most. A cheeky compliment in most situations, but not quite appropriate for this one. In addition, it'd alert them of her presence anyway.

God damnit.

Imperia growled when he missed. Where was she?? He was about to turn around when he felt...something poke his ass. Was that her crystal sword...thing? He whirled around, eyes narrowed. "Oh, so that's how it is. I see," he chuckled.

Now that he was fairly certain where she was, he swiped out. Maybe this time it would hit. It better! He was already doing terrible, and this wasn't going too well. Especially considering Aaliyah was watching.

As predicted, the cat spun around and swiped at her, seemingly in response to the soft smack upon their rear end. In response, Kin-Kin raised her head, trying to block their advances with the muzzle covering her face, and facing the blow head on. Now that she no longer needed them, the shadows were trickling away from her to be replaced by her usual golden glow.

As expected, their paw clattered against the crystalline muzzle, and Kin-kin subsequently lunged forward, feeling as though the perfect opening had revealed itself.

She couldn't reply to their words, but she would have. Oh, how she would have if she didn't have this sword. Come to think of it, she really did miss all the jeering. Some sacrifices had to be made, she supposed.

When the wolf used her crystal to deflect his attack, Imperia growled. He watched as she lunged. He would have to think fast. He could dodge, but what was the fun in that? Quickly, he took a deep breath. He may as well breathe fire on her. Maybe that would make her rethink her decisions. It's never good to go headfirst into fire, is it? "Better think fast."

...Or perhaps not.

Aww, kitty isn't doing so well now, are they?

Ferocious pride made shivers pass throughout her, fur all over her entire body puffing out, almost, almost making her look angry. Or maybe crazy. or maybe muscular. But no matter what she looked like, Kin-Kin was quite obviously very, very confident by this point. The she-wolf's eyes narrowed and she again lunged, this time aiming to connect with the caracal's face with the flat of her sword.

A blow with the point would very easily be able to kill, and that'd do nothing for her. On the contrary, killing someone was quite unrefined, and would most definitely work against her in the future. Besides, what was the point in showing off if there was no-one to grovel at the end?

Imperia They'll call our crimes a work of art

Imperia growled when his spell didn't work. Great. This was just perfect. The wolf seemed to be getting a kick out of it, too. When she lunged, he narrowed his eyes and tried to dodge, but he ultimately failed. He felt the side of the sword slap his face, causing it to go to the side. His cheek now stung, but he'd show no sign of such. He just turned back toward the wolf, glaring with as much strength as he could muster.

He snarled and thought about his next move. This battle was very close to drawing to a close. He had to make sure he won! He wasn't sure if he would. Lunging at them could be dangerous. He might end up impaling himself on their crystal. Using his spells may not work either. Maybe if he lunged, and being very careful, tried to bite her? He didn't have much of a choice. He was pretty close to her right now, after all.

So he leaped, aiming to bite.
