MAGICKA LEVEL 100%
RESTORED TO 100%
That still struck Xireidi as an oddity more puzzling than magic itself, that wood might burn twice. Perhaps with all the magic Amras had been pouring into the training some of it had leaked through and infused the wood itself with fire magic? Did fire magic even work like that?
Thoughts became distracted as the gryphon brought injured arm up and began to put on the expression he always unconsciously used when he was focusing on a spell. Ears tilted forward as the injury began to fade away right before Xireidi's eyes and the bird appeared to be in less pain. Since when could magic do that? That wasn't light or fire or plant or mind or anything like that! Brows raised as Amras confirmed that it had been a spell that he might be able to use one day.
The ability to read into the past was one thing, useful but not particularly helpful most of the time. The ability to heal injuries was a completely different game! With a power like that he could certainly utilize magic to support his might. One of the main hazards of attacking physically was that it put him directly in the line of fire. If he didn't take too much damage he could probably outlast an opponent, but if he had the ability to heal in the middle of a fight he could probably double how long he could keep pressure on before having to call it.
"How do I start on that?" he asked, now at full attention.

MAGICKA LEVEL 99%
RESTORED TO 100%
Amras |
Though the wounds had mostly been taken care of Amras still hoped to get one more round of fire training in today before moving on to the next subject of study. Sure he had managed to reach the next element, but as long as the pile of wood was set up there was no reason not to finish it off. Besides, that would give him more blackened wood to test the properties of.
None of that could be done, however, if he still had remnants of the battle. The gryphon focused once more on delivering raw magic to the still slightly sore area. Before he knew it the spell began to once more spin out of control, sending much too much blood supply to the healing area and causing a few of the closed wounds to reopen.
Nope! That was it for him for the day. In an instant he retracted all the magic from the spell, his arm now feeling worse off than it did before. Perhaps he could see if he could find the differences between the black wood and black talc aside from flammability. Perhaps he could go back to his tunnels and restock his supplies. Whatever he did today it would probably be a good idea to rest his magic.
Attention turned back to Xireidi and eyes rested on the remnants of the pattern. "The magic blocking your vision didn't go away, it just changed nature so you couldn't see it anymore. Spend some time in rest and see if you can pinpoint how your vision now and before differ. It may take some time but it may unconsciously remind you what magic feels like. Come see me again once it fades and tell me if that worked or not."
Of course, if the wolf lived in Polaris it was already inundated by magic constantly. Having a different kind of magic nearby had only a small chance of working. Even so, it was the best shot he had at the moment.

MAGICKA LEVEL 100%
RESTORED TO 100%
Wait, the magic directly over his eye hadn't been erased at all? Xireidi had figured that there was still some light on his face but to find out that he was actually looking at the world through a shell of transparent magic was slightly unsettling. Even more unsettling now that he saw Amras botch another spell in his fatigue. A useful too perhaps, but not an extremely reliable one it seemed. Small wonder that his magic would implant such a fear from a young age before he was old enough to know better.
If he was to approach magic again he would certainly have to be careful to not lean on it too heavily. His physical training was weaker but at least it seemed to be more consistent. Though some doubt arose at the effectiveness of this proposed training the wolf decided to at least give it a try. What was the worst that could happen with just doing self-reflection and observation after all?
"By the look of things I think we could both use some rest. I'll come back after the spell has worn off and we'll see how things go then."
Xireidi stood up and began to turn toward the edge of the clearing. "Thanks for the enjoyable match, and I look forward to speaking again." he called back in farewell. The gryphon would probably be fine if he just stopped trying to overexert himself. Within minutes he was a good distance away from the practice area and on his way back to his home in Polaris.

MAGICKA LEVEL 100%
RESTORED TO 100%
Amras |
Amras waved Xireidi off with his left hand, keeping his right still lest the injury aggravate itself. He was more than a little embarrassed by his current condition, barely able to hold a simple spell, but that would probably correct itself with a small bit of recovery.
Once the wolf was out of sight Amras lazily stood up and sauntered over toward the broken dome. There was still a ton of fine dust left in there from the impact and a decent number of larger pieces comparable to the black talc stones he had in his leftmost pouch. Taking one of the stones out he held it gently in left hand and blackened wood in right hand, careful not to put too much strain on the injured limb.
The black talc stone seemed a bit softer and more prone to producing powder than the wood. Apparently had it not been for the force of the impact and magic the blackened wood would have probably broken down into chips rather than powder like it had. Running both items across the surface of the baked clay showed that they produced lines very similarly to each other, though the talc seemed a bit dustier than the blackened wood. Perhaps he could use the blackened wood for making lines without having to use pattern painter? If he did that then perhaps he could bauble some of the talc stones to have different colors and a different texture to work with?
Mind racing on possible applications for this discovery Amras emptied his powder pouch and the quartz marble pouch, filling the first with black wood powder and the second with the larger pieces. He'd have to do more testing later on but for now he needed to make his way back to the tunnels to restock his supply of talc stone to bauble later.
