It seemed like forever since Blackberry last moved. It seemed like forever since the snake had gone away. It seemed like forever since her world was not filled with pain. It seemed like forever that she had been winning.

She wasn't winning anymore. She wasn't protecting her territory. She wasn't bullying or beating or honking. She wasn't even walking, dammit! How could she become the most terrifying, the most feared, and the most respected if she died in this hole? If she never moved again?

As she continued to think, another spasm of pain wracked her system. She couldn't groan. She couldn't move. Paralysis had completely taken hold. All she could do was barely breath and wait. Wait for the venom to pass. Or something. Someone. Anything!

(if y'all want to start the adventures of moosegoose, whoever gets here first. Otherwise, I'll just let it be open)

Blueberry was wandering, as he had been for some time. Hi gangly legs were filling out, the nubs that were antlers were growing. He was getting stronger. The moose calf came into a tunnel, a wet and cold tunnel. Berry shivered as he moved along. He almost moved right past a goose.

"Hello? Are you alright?" He asked, his voice soft and kind.

Blackberry distantly heard the sound of footsteps and relief shot through her system. Finally, perhaps someone had come that could save her!

But then the small moose appeared in her line of sight and that hope faded fast. No way something as young and pathetic looking could heal the venom. She wanted to scoff at its remark, she wanted to criticize its stupidity because of course she wasn't alright! But her beak wouldn't move. Her voice wouldn't work. Her eyes could barely roll themselves enough to stare at the little creature. So, instead, she did her best to look it as the venom continued to grip her body in a firm, paralyzed hold.

Oh. No response. Berry figured this Gembound must really be hurt! He tried to make some friends. Little friends, that could maybe heal the goose? He focused, and little green sprouts soon emerged from the ground. Okay. SO he made stuff grow. but now what would he do with it? Maybe the goose could eat the stuff?

"Eat this," Blueberry said, his voice confident even though he wasn't even close to sure about whether or not the plants would make the goose better or worse. All he could hope was that maybe the plants would help.

Blackberry eyed the moose suspiciously. She didn't want to accept its help. She wanted it to leave. But at the same time, she knew that she wouldn't last long without someone nearby. Would her body or her mind crumble first? Or maybe the venom would run its course soon enough. She didn't know. But when the plants appeared, she didn't hesitate to do her best to try and get them in her mouth.

She tried to move, she really did. But her muscles were barely working. She managed to get her beak to open just the slightest, but she couldn't get her head to reach forward. Damn it, this was so embarrassing! How dare that snake beat her at her own game! How dare she strike her! The anger was burning inside her, but, for the first time in her life, she could express nothing. She could not make any noise. She could not flap her wings or honk or attack. And it was deeply disturbing.

Picking up the palnts in his mouth gently, Berry put the green shoots closer to the goose.

"Maybe try now?" The moose calf offered.

Blackberry eyed the moose suspiciously. Blackberry glared at the plants, determined that, this time, she was going to get it. She had to move, she had to beat this! But when she strained what little muscle control she had, a spike of pain shot through her as she overstepped what she could do. She couldn't cry out or express the pain, she could do nothing but let it bottle. Tears stung at her eyes through the haze and she wished she could wipe them away before the moose saw. She imagined herself honking in frustration and, honestly, that was good enough for now.

Once the pain had passed, Blackberry steeled herself. She relaxed everything she had control over before suddenly pushing them into motion. It managed to work - with great strain and effort, she was able to open her beak and snap down on the leaves. Not only that, but with a little more work, she was able to get them down. She sighed as the herbs started to take effect. After a few moments, she could feel her muscles start to relax a little bit, but the pain at the wound and the headache didn't abate. That was okay, at least she could move again.

Shakily, still working off the effects of the paralysis, she managed to pull herself off the ground, cringing at the pain in her back and shoulder. She didn't get far before she had to let herself sit, feeling exhausted and out of breath. The breathing problems had thankfully lessened with the passing time, but she felt as if she had been flying for miles.

Then she remembered the moose. She glanced up at it, wondering how to respond. Her inner instincts told her to chase it away, be mean, honk loudly, and fight more. However, there was something there stopping her, something that made her realize that this creature had helped her. She was hurt and in pain and this moose had taken some of it away. Angry at herself for the weakness she was displaying, she decided to settle the debt with a short "Thanks."

The moose waited as the goose tried to move once, stopping from what the calf guessed was pain. He didn't notice the tears welling up in her eyes, instead, he wished he could do more. All he could do was watch and hope she could eat the plants. Then, she finally ate them and stood. Slowly, but surely, Berry could see her getting better. He had done it!

"Don't mention it. I wouldn't be able to leave you lying there. I would have felt horrible!" Blueberry said, excited he'd done something right.

"My name is Blueberry, and yours?" he asked.

Blackberry cringed at the moose's words. He was accentuating her weakness in the situation and it was putting her in an even more sour mood then before. However, she couldn't stay mad - he had, after all saved her from an uncomfortably painful time.

But when he said his name she froze, rage filling her tiny body. "What?
You're name is Blueberry?" She hated it. That was too close to her name. And NOBODY could have her name! Her voice was half a hiss and half a honk as her anger struggled against the pain. "No, I'm not calling you Blueberry. I'll call you Moose, because that's what you are. I'm Blackberry and if you ever try to copy my name again, I'll rip you apart!"
