CAVE STATUS
QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Sebastian was relieved when Rift nodded, although he couldn't help but to cringe when the other attempted to use his magic again, fearful of another explosion. Thankfully, instead of an explosion, some more plants began to emerge.
He trailed after Rift when the other began to move, sticking close to him, not looking at Splotch. He knew Rift, but he didn't know Splotch, so he looked to Rift. The cubs jaw dropped at the sight of the clearing, covered in plants, and then his eyes caught on the glow. What was that?
The panther looked at the flower beds, smiling as he leaned forward to sniff them. However, he abandoned the motion as he scurried forward to catch up with Rift, not wanting to be left behind.
He looked around the clearing, seeing a bed of moss, and little else. The dirt, however, was soft beneath his feet. "It's nice!" he smiled, digging his claws into the soil.
Splotch grinned when the older Gembound turned to leave, not wanting to be near another explosion. However, she couldn't help but to cringe when he channeled magic into the soil, although she relaxed when it didn't backfire this time, instead plants growing up to cover the dent in the earth.
She followed behind the two felines, looking around as they walked. It was a rather nice area, although would probably look much nicer when the plants regrew. However, the area he led them to seemed much nicer. It was aglow with plants, and she could sense their magic in her paws.
"How do you talk with them? Can you teach me?" she asked, looking around. She could sense plants, but didn't know how to talk to them. There were so many uses for it!
She looked around the clearing when they stepped inside, allowing her claws to test the soil. It was soft, and Splotch didn't hesitate to lay down on the soil.

MAGICKA LEVEL 82% RESTORED TO 100%
Rift smiled at Sebastian, happy that he liked his home. He hd noticed his hesitance when they first came in, but he seems a lot more comfortable. He gave him a small lick on the head. "Why don't you introduce yourself?" he murmured quietly.
He turned to Splotch at her question and thought for a second. "Well, you don't speak to the plants like you would speak to others. You speak to them through your magic. It takes time, patience, and practice until your able to have your requests heard. And sometimes it doesn't work at all."
He eyed a few small dandelions growing in the grass near the two and touched his paw to the ground, letting his magic call out to them. But they did not answer. He retracted his own, hoping that Splotch hadn't noticed his failure.
Sebastian purred quietly, leaning into the touch as the older puma licked his head. However, he couldn't help but to frown, fighting the urge to duck behind Rift as the other tried to get him to speak. "I'm Sebastian." he said simply, before listening in on their conversation.
He was rather curious as to how one could commune with plants, so he listened interestedly. However, he couldn't help but to frown, realizing he couldn't ever do it. After all, he had fire magic, not plant.
The two cats seemed to be rather close, Splotch noticed, the elder licking the top of the younger's head. Were they father and son? They weren't the same color, but looked rather similar, so she couldn't tell. "Hi Sebastian!" She smiled, wagging her tail. "I'm Splotch!"
She turned to Rift when he began to speak, listening intently. She decided that she'd have to learn eventually, and beamed up at him. "Cool!"

MAGICKA LEVEL 84% RESTORED TO 100%
Rift decided to try again. He felt that this time would be better. The magic swirled in his ear and shot down to his paw, which he visibly push forward this time, touching the ground lightly as he fixed his eyes on the dandelions. He felt himself connect with them and they began waving carefully. He nodded towards them, silently telling the two of them to look. After a moment, he willed them to move and three dandelions carefully pulled themselves out of the ground and moved over towards them, before it stretched its roots into the earth in front of them and replanted itself between the three. He smiled. "Plants will do many things for you."
He looked up at the two, his heart starting to pound faster. Now was the time, time to ask the question he had been holding in for a while. He didn't know if they wanted to, if they would say yes or no. He wondered if Sebastian would be willing, with his fire magic and all. "I-I'd like to protect them," he stammered, "the plants. Eridanus. But I can't do it alone. Would you, maybe, like to help me?"
The Puma cub watched Rift interestedly, rather disappointed he wouldn't be able to talk to plants. How cool would that have been?! And useful, too! But, alas, his magic wouldn't be compatible in any way. All he could do was destroy, and he didn't think Rift would appreciate that.
His attention was drawn back as the larger Gembound nodded, and he looked at the flowers. His eyes widened as the flowers became animate, uprooting themselves before moving over, and replanting themselves. "Whoa!" he gasped, tilting his head at the flowers. How did they do that?!
"I'd like to protect them, too!" he was quick to agree. He'd do anything to stay with Rift, after all, he was all he knew.

SPLOTCH
The Wild Dog never looked away from Rift, hoping to learn how to do this. Her eyes widened as his gem glowed, and automatically looked at the ground. She made an excited sound as the flowers began to sway, swaying with them.
"Whoa!" she gasped, staring in amazement as the flowers began to move, pulling themselves out of the ground and replanting themselves closer to the trio. "That's so cool!"
Hearing his question, she was quick to nod. Protect the plants? Of course! "Absolutely!" She attempted to grow some plants, and hoped Rift wouldn't notice.

MAGICKA LEVEL 100% RESTORED TO 100%
Rift's tail curled with delight. He wasn't alone! He was going to protect the plants! They would spread throughout the caves and bring growth, love, and joy to everyone. It was so exciting, Rift could barely stand it.
In fact, he couldn't contain himself. He leaped up from the ground, his eyes shining. "I'm so happy! We'll bring life to everyone!" He turned to Sebastian, his mind starting to work a little bit. He dearly wanted his friend to help, but, at first, he didn't know how. But then he remembered the exercise he had done with Ritonai. Of course! He smiled and gave the cub a soft lick. "I know just the job for you! Follow me!"
He turned and leaped out of the cave and lead them to a section of the forest that was overgrown, with many plants that were decaying or dying and feeding off of each other. Rift leaned forward and gave them a sniff. They smelled of death.
He turned to Sebastian, who he hoped had followed him. "This happens sometimes. I'm not sure why, but I guess only a certain number of plants can live in one area at a time. Now the dead ones are killing the rest. I need you to burn them away so they can grow and thrive once again." His whiskers twitched. "But, you know, be careful not to set the living ones on fire." He then turned to Splotch. "And when he's done, we'll replant them! Not grow them, its better for plants to grow by themselves, but just help them along."

Sebastian startled slightly as Rift leaped up in an explosion of movement, before copying him, standing in a slightly less enthusiastic movement. "We will? How?" he asked curiously. But then the older Puma was licking him, before telling them to follow.
The fire Gembound ran after Rift, little paws working furiously to catch up to him. He didn't care if Splotch caught up, he didn't much like the dog.
It wasn't long before they reached an area of the cave where the plants seemed to be mostly dead. He nodded at the plant Gembound's order, before dropping his jaw, allowing a blast of hot arir to come out, burning the dead plants to ash.
"Speech looks like this." Thoughts look like this.
