QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

Many Chrysalises were very large. Large enough to contain what would become very large Gembounds some day. Even the smallest ones were usually relatively large, at least as big as a house cat. But this Chrysalis put those to shame.
It was tiny, absolutely puny. Barely as large as a baby monkey's fist. It was certainly eye-catching though, seeming to glisten. As the light hit it, it seemed to go between a beautiful, bright blue and a vivid, rich green. Seemingly randomly, there were patches of a dark pink color, standing out starkly against the rest of the Chrysalis.
The Chrysalis would suddenly begin to shake, bulging slightly at one point. That point would bulge methodically, as though something inside were trying to break its way out. And then, suddenly, the wall of the Chrysalis would give, and what looked like the end of a nail would pierce it. As the 'nail' wiggled, the shell would shatter slightly, before giving way completely. A small, rounded head, with feathers that matched the Chrysalis, would pop out, twitching and looking around rapidly.
Haru had wandered around after her hatching, going from a room full of wind to a very pretty and sparkly room. Lights adorned the place, and she felt slightly out of place. nonetheless, the lights were beautiful, so she'd stay. At least, for the time being.
After some time of walking, she heard a faint clattering sound, and looked around before a glint caught her eye. Turning, she saw a small gem. It was tinier than any she'd seen before, and seemed to host someone inside as they broke free. She sat down and watched as a tiny little creature popped out, looking around.
Pausing, she thought about whether or not she should say something. Had they noticed her? She was still small, but the lights should make her easy to see. She stayed silent for a moment longer before coming to a decision. "Hey."
The hummingbird twitched her head from side to side, trying to see where she was. 'Where am I? Where is this? What is this?' she wondered, before pushing, slipping out through the hole in her tiny chrysalis. That proved to be the snowflake that started the avalanche, the chrysalis shattering to pieces around her.
She fluttered to the ground, the light catching her feathers making them go from green to blue and back. The little bird landed awkwardly on tiny talons, twitching her head to look up at a rather large... thing. It's voice seemed oddly loud, but she was quick to respond, "Hello."

haruo bounded around the bright room, leaving clip-clip noises wherever his tiny hooves hit the cave floor. his first few moments in polaris had been scary but surely he could make another friend. someone like him had to be around!
but search as he might, haruo could not find anybody like himself. all of their eyes were on the fronts of their faces, and when they opened their mouths he could see their huge, sharp teeth. he did not dare approach them by himself.
after a while, the little fawn lost his luster, slowing down to a sad saunter as he realized there was no one who looked quite right anywhere around. but just as he had resigned himself to his lonely fate, his wide ears picked up a tiny crack, and his head swiveled to meet the sound.
what he saw almost made his heart stop in terror. another wolven creature--this one was a little weird looking, with strange round ears, but he could still see its teeth--was bearing down on a tiny, tiny hatchling. just like he had been! wow it was really tiny he didn't even think they could get that small but it was most definitely alive and why even risk it!
within moments, haruo was barreling in to throw himself between the tiny creature and what was surely their assailant, just waiting for the right chance to strike. it was with frantic clattering of hooves that the young fawn, only slightly taller perhaps than the possible-wolf-pup, skidded a right angle to place himself between the two creatures. he put on his most scary, angry face at the big-toothed gembound and lowered his head as if his no-horns-headbutt would really do much harm at all and summoned forth his magic. the gem seam on his chest sparkled with barely-visible electricity for just a split second, and immediately his fur puffed up just slightly.
"この動物のことはほっといてます！" bleated the little spotted deer, and he added a stamp of his right forehoof just to emphasize that he meant business. and, boy, was he terrified--the hatchling would be able to see it from behind him, his tail quivering and his leg unsteady. but he was determined to protect them, no matter the cost!

writing haru is great practice for me so feel free to correct me if my jpn grammar or phrasing is off, i'm still learning.
Haru watched as the chrysalis shattered completely, and the tiny bird hopped out fully, light catching on her feathers. Something seemed to change within her, and she felt...slightly different, perhaps? The feathers were very pretty, and she almost wanted to...reach out and take them....
A paw lifted, she moved it forward before quickly moving it back as a strange creature barreled between the two. Yellow eyes narrowed, they glared at the creature briefly before resuming a mostly neutral expression. Not saying anything for the moment, they stared at this new life form, watching as they put on what was probably supposed to be an angry face. She snorted slightly, but stopped as the deer spoke. She frowned, not having a clue what they said.
"I have no idea what you just said," she grunted, rather bluntly. Turning slightly to look past them and at the bird, she wondered how she could perhaps get those pretty feathers for herself.
The little bird tilted her head, looking up at the larger Gembound. They had a funny looking mouth, and she found herself chirping a laugh.
Her head tilted again at a sudden 'clip-clopping' sound but, before she could look at the source of the sound, something began to drew near. She flittered back as the Gembound's paw neared, before suddenly retreating.
The bird startled, flapping glistening wings as a something leaped between them, yelling seeming nonsense. Huny stared at the thing, tilting her head this way and that as though that would help make sense of everything. "What did you say?" she asked with another tilt of her head.

the weird wolf was not taking him seriously... it wasn't taking him seriously! haruo stomped his hoof and chuffed in indignation.
the little bird peeped something from behind him. it seemed confused. no matter; this was an infant, they probably didn't know any better. he would have to protect them before they were eaten before they even had a chance to live.
dimly, haruo remembered how to warn other gembounds in a way they'd respond to... "run!" he bleated behind him, and steadied himself once more against the enemy in front of him.
after a moment of searching for the words, the fawn barked defiantly at the predator: "no!" it was... the only way he knew how to tell them not to eat the little bird, that he'd protect her, but hopefully it would work.
Haru watched with narrowed eyes as the creature that put himself between her and the bird stomped his hoof. She snorted lightly as they yelled a word, something she could actually understand, to the bird. But when a new word was directed to her, she frowned. No? No? Who was this....this thing who seemed to barely know how to speak to tell her no?
"No?" she asked, eyes still narrowed. "No what? You'll have to be more specific than that." She had no idea if the animal would even be able to understand her, but she couldn't focus on that. She wanted those pretty feathers, and she was going to get them. Whatever it took.
The little deer seemed disturbed. It stood before her, in between her and the other Gembound. And then it bleated for her to run - run from what? She didn't understand. And then it yelled 'no'? What was it saying no to?
So, decidedly confused, she took to the air, fluttering forward to land on the little deer's head. "What are you going on about?" she asked, fluttering her wings.
