Fawkes' eyes briefly flicked over Zeus with some concern, frowning as much as a bird could (which was not at all) though he soon turned his head back towards the mushrooms and his brother. He trusted his brother's word-- who he had only known for a solid ten minutes, of course. It made perfect, logical sense in his mind, at least.
He nodded back to his brother; an elegant little dip of the head, which did not look entirely correct on a scrawny, newborn eagle. He watched the bear regardless as he began to investigate the mushrooms as well, thoughtful.
"Mushy?" He parroted with some thought, then-- without knowing entirely where the word tumbled from-- "Mushroom. Mush, room." Fawkes frowned.
No, he preferred 'mushy.' There was a nice ring to it.
"I like them, too," he said, hobbling back towards the mushrooms to look them over again. "I like you, too, dear brother. These things are quite suitably mushy--" he began, tone thoughtful, though he noticed that the cub was beginning to lose balance. The hatchling dove out the way to avoid being crushed, landing unevenly with a soft scrape of talons against the cave floor.
... ahh, the 'mushies' have not been so lucky, it seems, Fawkes thought to himself with some concern, pushing himself up and stumbling back to his brother, gently nudging his paw and preening at his fur.
"Are you alright?" He asked worriedly, starting to pace back and forth to look at Zeus' face. "I don't think the mushies can move, but that's okay-- it was an accident, yes? There may be more if you want to find them?" Fawkes tried to sound reassuring, though he was already beginning to worry what kind of reaction the bear would have to this realisation that he had, in fact, killed a mushy.
