Perhaps unfortunately for the playful Asimona, Red’s own playful attitude didn’t last very long. Apparently even as a toddler, she wasn’t prone to long bouts of excited behavior. Her current excitement had only come about from having learned to talk, stand, and walk all in a short span of time. Now she sat down and looked up at the dragon in a surprisingly serious way. “What else to learn?” she asked, in her broken speech. (She would not learn perfect diction ’til later in life, though how much later was unknown). Her hyper-focus had come back and now all she wanted to do was learn more — more and more, until she had learned all she could. She would never learn all there was to know (not that she understood that at a day old) but she she wanted to try her best! She was driven by some deep-seated instinct to explore and gain all the knowledge she could. She just needed to know where to start.

Asimona was surprised by Red's sudden change in attitude. She certainly didn't stay excited about her new discoveries for very long. A little disappointed, she sat back down and folded her wings back. She thought for a moment. If Red wanted to learn more besides speech and walking, perhaps she could teach her about magic.

Asimona doubted that Red had the same kind of magic as her. The cold aura that followed her around wasn't exactly common and she hadn't yet see anything blow streams of ice. However, she had learned a few others spells that she could know, perhaps. But Asimona knew that there was lots of different kinds of magic. She was curious to know what Red had been born with.

"We could try magic," she began. "Everyone hatches with magic. It comes from your gem." Here she now pointed at the gem at the base of Red's tail, in case she hadn't yet noticed it. It had taken Asimona herself to realize that there was a diamond embedded in her spine and skin. "If you focus on it, you might cast a spell. It works different for everyone, some easier and more natural then others. Try focusing on it and see what happens." She hoped that Red would be able to understand all of this.

“Magic?” Red repeated, head tilting to the side and ears pushing forward in curiosity. Something about that word seemed to already be engrained into her brain. It caused a tingling sensation at the base of her tail, though she wasn’t sure why until… At Asimona’s pointing, the coywolf stood up and tried to turn her head all the way behind her to look, but just couldn’t manage it. She thought she saw a hint of a darker color against the flaming red of her fur, but couldn’t tell for sure. “Magic… tingles?” she asked, after giving up trying to see the darker spot against her fur and turning to look at the dragon again. Magic must tingle, she thought, otherwise, why would that spot have tingled at the word?

She decided to try what Asimona had suggested, and focused hard on the place where her body had tingled just a few seconds ago. Suddenly she could both hear and feel a much larger heartbeat than her own, and stared open-mouthed at the dragon’s chest. “This Magic?” she asked. “I feel… heart. You heart.”

Asimona nodded with encouragement. "Yes! Magic does tingle. It's in us all, its natural, its our life. All of our magic is different." She watched carefully to see if something changed and became a little disappointed when nothing happened. However, at the mention of hearing her heart, her eyes widened. "You can...hear my heart?" It had to be magic. Even she couldn't hear her own heart clearly. Her tail thumped excitedely against the ground. "Yes, that's it! That's magic! You've done it!"

But it was only the first spell. Perhaps many more would come. She would learn to control them. Asimona remembered how she had once learned to control her powers. What had first seemed like a simple cold aura she was able to hold and release at her will. "There are many ways to use magic. You've reached the first step which is tapping into it. Finding it and releasing it in the form of a simple spell. If you focus and make your will known, you may be able to cast a more complex spell with enough practice. Well," she paused and chuckled, "that's how some users do it. You make your own path with magic, it works the way you want it to work."

According to Red’s scaly giant dragon friend, there were many different ways to use Magic. The coywolf’s brows scrunched together in concentration, since Asimona was using a lot of words at once now and the toddler was having trouble keeping up. The most important parts seemed to be that she had done something right, and that there were other ways to do it… to do Magic. “Maybe I try something else,” Red said determinedly. “Maybe has… other Magic.”

Red closed her eyes, since this seemed a natural thing to do, like maybe it would help her concentrate. She sat for a little bit, trying to feel that tingle in the base of her tail again… but nothing happened. Eventually, she opened her eyes again. Instead of being sad or frustrated, she was simply curious. “I has… only one Magics? How get more Magics?” Little did she know that she actually did have another spell, and that it had just failed.

Asimona watched with excitement as Red began to focus again. However, nothing happened this time and even the Coywolf seemed disappointed. Asimona was not surprised. "That's okay, you probably have more magic. You just have to practice."

She thought for a moment. How would she explain this? She didn't want to make it more complicated - Red was probably having a hard enough time trying to keep up already. Also, inside, she was itching to show the pup her magic. She had worked hard to form the ice and energy magics she was so proud of and to impress a young one like Red was an exciting prospect.

She gave into her desire and started explaining. "For example, my first spell was just making things colder. However, with concentration and practice, I am now able to do this." She raised her head so that Red wouldn't get caught in the blast and opened her mouth. The magic in her back ran through her body and up her throat, chilling but not cold enough to bother her. From the depths of her jaw, the magic surged and she expelled a blast of ice and cold into the air. She let it go for a few seconds before cutting off the magic and snapping her jaws shut.

She turned back to red, her tail wiggling a little bit and gave her a small smile. "That is just one example and it took me a while and lots of focus and control to be able to start doing that. Your spell may be easy or seemingly less significant as a blast of ice, but I promise that it doesn't make it any less important or impressive. If you keep practicing, you will shape your magic to what you wish."

Red’s jaw just about hit the ground when Asimona performed her spell. Even though the icy breath was not directed at her, she still felt a marked drop in the air temperature for the duration of the spell. She stared at the stream of ice issuing from her friend’s mouth, unable to find the words to express her feelings, her green eyes large in wonder and awe. All too soon, however, Asimona closed her mouth, cutting off her flow of icy breath, and Red let out a small, “Aww,” in disappointment.

The coywolf listened afterwards as the dragon explained that even if she couldn’t do something that impressive, it was still just as important. Red couldn’t help but shuffle her paws at those words in doubt. “Do you think I can make ice like you one day?” she asked, trying to keep the tinge of self-deprecation out of her voice. Expecting nothing, she gave a bit of attention to the base of her tail again, the place that apparently held her Magic.

Suddenly, it tingled again, and sort of let off a hot, itchy feeling that began to spread throughout her body. Alarmed, Red stood up and looked down at herself, wondering what had gone wrong. What she saw was that the color of her fur had become such a dark red that it looked almost black, like a pool of blood hidden in shadow. “W-what happened?” she asked, stuttering in her surprise. “Is this… another spell? Why is it so itchy?"

Internally, Asimona was proud that Red had enjoyed her magic. She was satisfied that she had impressed the young pup with her favorite and proudest spell. However, she hoped that she hadn't made her feel bad about her own abilities. She had no idea what kind of magic Red would grow to learn or would attune herself to.

However, when she saw the change in her fur color, she knew that it would be different then hers. Asimona's magic was about energy, change and ice. But Red's was different, less physical. She looked at the change in fur closely, sniffing softly. "Yes, that's a spell, most definitely. Magic will feel strange and foreign, but the more you use it, the more natural it will become. Do you remember what it felt like to cast each spell? The difference between the two?"

So this was another spell. New Magic. So that meant that so far, Red knew how to do… two Magics. She wondered how many she would eventually learn. Looking up when Asimona asked if she remembered what it felt like to cast each spell, she tried to remember what the first one had felt like. Her brows scrunched together. “All I remember was hearing-feeling your heart. Like… it loud in my ears, but also I feel it in my own chest, bigger than my heart.” Her face scrunched up, then. “New spell just felt itchy. Eugh!” And she shook herself, as if trying to rid herself of fleas or other vermin that caused itchiness. “What you spell feel like?” she asked the dragon. “Cold? I felt cold when you breathed ice, above head!” Red’s speech, as one can probably tell, was still not entirely correct.

@Asimona -- sorry this post kinda sucks >.< I just wanted to get a reply in.

Asimona thought for a moment. Magic had become natural to her at this point that there wasn't a huge distinction between what it felt like to cast a spell. She simpley cast whatever she wanted without having to focus on the distinction between them. But thinking back to when she had cast her spells, she was able to pinpoint exactly what it felt like. Well, not exactly, as it was a memory, but enough to tell Red.

"Well, when I cast the ice breath spell, its like a stream of cold traveling from my gem to my throat. It tickles a lot and makes it a little hard to breath properly, but, then again, I'm just breathing out. As for my other spells..." She raised a foot into the air and let the magic seep through her claws. The water in the air slowy began to collect around her claws as she changed it from a gas to a liquid and then, as she continued using the spell, frost began to cover her claw as it changed into a solid. She let it go once her claws were covered with ice and put it back on the ground to let Red see. "This one isn't so much cold as it is warm. Like I'm rubbing myself against a rock, but inside. It's hard to explain, but it's energizing. I'm changing the very nature of things instead of simply breathing ice."
