Sebastian had been bored.

The Panther had finished his rounds of the Room of Growth, making sure there were no Gembounds harming Rift's beloved plants. There hadn't, and he'd felt the draw of Magick coming from Polaris.

So, decided to take a break from the Cave of Growth, he'd turned and walked into Polaris. He'd walked, and walked, and walked, until finally he found a sizeable patch of dirt, with large rocks and no plants to accidentally harm.

After looking around, making sure there weren't any Gembounds nearby, he'd focused on his Magick, feeling his shoulders throb as he started with a simple enough spell. Slight pain ran through him, and the air took on a rancid smell of burning. His black fur began to char, and the air filling with smoke.

Okay, that had worked. The Puma stood still, waiting for the billowing smoke to fade away so he could see, not wanting to accidentally strike a Gembound if they were to wander in at the wrong time. After all, if Faelan had come in earlier, he might have been struck, and burned.

Finally, the smoke faded away into little more than a mist, although the majority of the smell remained. But the Puma found himself rapidly getting used to the scent, and didn't allow it to distract him.

Next, he channeled his magick into his extremities: his ears, nose, feet, and the tip of his tail. His eyes began to water as his sensitive nose began to heat up, but he took a number of steps before allowing the heat to fade away, leaving burnt paw-prints in the soil.

Sebastian took several deep breaths as he waited for the heat to go down, trying to ignore the pain in his nose, tail, and paws. It hurt, yes, but if he was going to continue using his magick, he'd have to get used to it.

Now, he knew of at least two more spells he was capable of, and both needed a target. The second would be easy, simply targeting boulders. But the first was almost intangible, and he wouldn't be able to see its effects on a rock. So, perhaps...

Looking around, red eyes landed on a dead tree trunk. He padded forward, approaching it, and finally determined that, yes, it was dead, and no, Rift wouldn't be upset with him if he injured it.

So he padded a few strides away, before turning back to the trunk. The air in his lungs began to heat up, and finally he dropped his jaw, allowing the breath to flow forward. The tree-trunk developed a charred black patch, and he grinned as soon as it was safe to close his mouth.

Sebastian took a moment to catch his breath, feeling a stinging in his throat. That hurt, yes, a lot, but once more he had to get used to it. He took a few deep breaths, feeling the air cool some with each exhalation. Soon, he was breathing as easily as normal.

Padding forward, he observed the trunk. It wasn't too burned, but there was a definition black mark and, when he looked closely, the bark appeared to be charred. He smirked, before remembering he had one more spell to try.

Looking around, his eyes landed on a rather large rock. Shaking his head, he looked around again, before spying a smaller rock that would allow him to practice his fire-vomit.

His stomach roiled, and he could feel super-heated bile rising up his throat, burning the skin there. And then, suddenly, as though he were coughing up a furball, he released the bile, watching with satisfaction as it struck the rock.

Alright, so all of his Magick was working as expected. He focused, trying to see if anything new had come to mind, but it hadn't. So perhaps he could practice combining his Magick?

The Puma closed his eyes, focusing on his Magick again, attempting to char his fur and make some smoke. Unfortunately, perhaps he focused on his Magick a bit too much, as the entirety of his fur set aflame all at once. Before he could cry out, it went out, leaving him with fur with burnt tips, giving them a wiry appearance.

The Puma went wide-eyed, simply standing for a moment as he tried to catch his breath. This... was not fun. His body ached from the sudden immolation, and his throat burnt from the burning bile. His ears, tail, and nose stung from their brief moments heated, and for the most part he felt very thirsty.

He needed water.

Normally, the Panther didn't care for water. It made him uncomfortable, most likely because of his Fire magick. But now he wanted nothing more than to go for a swim, to cover his fur in water.

The Puma began to walk, seeking even the smallest amount of water. So long as he could get some down his throat, he'd be happy. It would be even better if he could submerge himself in it, but at this moment he was a beggar, and beggars couldn't be choosers.

As he walked, he began to scent water, and he would have run if his paws didn't ache so badly. So he settled for an awkward trot, raising his paws a hair higher than normal.

As he approached, his eyes widened, seeing a huge expanse of water. The Panther could have cried, and he hurried towards the water. He lowered his head, seeing the glistening, clean looking water, and began to frantically drink, lapping water up with his bristling tongue. As soon as the pain left his throat, he stepped into the water, dropping and beginning to roll in it, allowing the chilled water to soothe his burns.

For a long while, Sebastian rolled in the water. At first, it had been to soothe the burns. But then, he discovered he rather liked it, and allowed himself to flop and roll, playing like a young kitten.

Eventually, however, he forced himself up, and turned to hop out of the water. To his shock, however, his legs went limp like noodles, and he slumped back into the water with a splash.

Sebastian coughed and spluttered as he came up, clearing his lungs of the water. He slogged through the torso deep water, making his way back to the edge of the water source. The puma stared at the edge, before coiling his legs, leaping up. They were still weak, and so he only managed to get his forelegs over the edge, having to dig in his hind legs to boost his way up. The panther panted, shaking himself off before sitting down with a thump.

Sebastian panted, catching his breath before stretching out, sprawling on the grass. His tail tapped a lazy rhythm on the ground, and his eyelids blinked slowly. It seemed to take him ages, but finally he fell fast asleep.
