QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.

Polaris was heavy with Magick. It seemed to fill the air, pressing down on oneself if they wandered in. This Magick seemed to cause many Chrysalises to form there, forming in bunches and groups.
So it would be easy to start to ignore them. There were so many there was really no point to show interest until one actually started to hatch. So one couldn't be blamed for not noticing the slight wriggling of a Chrysalis.
The little being inside the Chrysalis had come into awareness only moments before. It had begun to wriggle, finding it was cramped inside the snow-white chrysalis. Its head was forced low, curling against the slight bulge of its chest. Its fluffy tail was forced down between its legs, which were curled against its stomach.
So it began to kick, pulling its hind legs in before lashing out, trying, and failing, to crack the chrysalis it was inside.

It had taken her some time to heal after the wrestling match with the deer, but Gypsy was now feeling so much better and back to her normal self. She had recovered for a while in Polaris where the Olympics had been held. Thanks to Oliver and a certain anaconda, the tiny avaian felt she was ready to wander around once more. She was certain that the energy of ancient magick thrumming in the walls of Polaris had also helped with the speedy recovery. How curious this place was.
She hopped forward at a leisurely pace, enjoying the peaceful stroll. She had never realised just how well-lit this room was compared to others. The glowing crystals and mosses looked more ethereal than ever. She cocked her head at a small cluster of fungi growing nearby. They created an awesome shape. She’d store the image in her head for muse later.
There was a thumping sound, that grew louder as Gypsy walked forward. Her head turned this way and that, trying to identify the source. Something about it was distantly familiar. In the corner of her vision, something moved. She quickly hopped towards it, and leaned in for closer observation. It was a snow-white gem, a chrysalis. It shook again just as she was about to touch it with her beak. She fluttered her wings in surprise. Curious. What was it?
She knocked on it with her beak, trying to help the gembound stuck inside. It didn’t occur to her that something dangerous might be within.

She felt like she was being crushed. Air seemed to be running out, and she was forced to take rapid, shallow breaths. The whatever it was around her seemed to be closing in, making her feel like she was being crushed. A pitiful whining sound made its way from her throat, and she thrashed inside the Chrysalis, trying to free herself.
Suddenly, there was an echoing knocking sound, and she twisted her head, trying to get her ears free to listen. But, as she did so, she became aware of how little air she seemed to have left, and began to thrash to free herself.
One thrash twisted her a bit too hard, too fast, and her head slammed into the side of the Chrysalis. The fox went still as she tried to regain her bearings, squeezing her eyes shut as her head throbbed.
This Chrysalis was extremely hard to crack open. Gypsy kept up her knocking, pausing only briefly when she heard a loud thump from within. Whatever was inside was trying to break free. She felt great concern for whoever was trapped in there. She tapped on the crystal as hard as she could, and raked her talons across its surface to try and find a weakness. The creature inside had stopped its efforts after the loud thump, and the tiny avian only grew more concerned.
“I’m trying to help you! Keep it up in there if you can!” Gypsy cried out to whoever was inside. She didn’t know if they could even hear her, but she could at least try to build some rapport in this sticky situation.

Her head spun.
The fox would've whined, but she didn't have the air too. There was a painful throbbing where she'd struck her head, the bird's tapping seeming to echo inside of the chrysalis. And then there was a loud scratching sound, and she cringed. That was loud! There was a loud sound, that she felt she should be able to understand, but was too distorted to make sense.
The fox cub began to thrash again, her paws battering against the inside of the Chrysalis. There was a sudden series of cracks, and the bottom of her Chrysalis dropped out, dumping her to the ground. The fox cub sneezed, clearing her nose of Chrysalis-fluid, and shook her head, looking up at Gypsy with a tilt of her head. "Are you my mother?"
