Blueberry cringed as he realized Blackberry was still attached to the snake. Oh no, she was gonna kill him later for that.

"SORRRRRYYY!" He called as he turned to the pair. Oh jeez, now BLackberry was being burnt. Letting out a rage-filled cry he ran forward at the two, rearing up to smash the snake again. He wouldn't hurt them anymore! Stupid worm!

"STUPID WORM! DO NOT HURT HER!" He yelled, letting himself drop.

The satisfaction Septiezal felt from scorching his attacker's leg was short lived. The monster's talons tore at his head in retaliation. She had slashed his face beyond recognition. It looked like a bloody pulp, but miraculously, (or rather unfortunately) Septiezal was still alive and he was in agony. A claw raked across his onyx gem, sending forth an excruciating, white hot pain all over his body. In a last act of self preservation, Septiezal released his grip. Gurgling on his own blood, he withdrew his head under a tight ball of functional, battered coils. He had to protect his gem at all cost.

He was so broken, beaten down, that he was running off of instinct. He had lost so much blood, so, so much. In a half-haze, mind started to wander. The violet, canine face took form, its two pairs of eyes glared down at him with a sneer.

"Incomplete beast. Doth thou wish thine body had limbs? Hmm?" He heard Mosi say. Tis not but this is a competition..." Septiezal could almost feel the Naissain'Yo's claws pushing him into the dirt.

The moose had bellowed at him, but it did not register in the dying serpent's brain.

Mosi's voice hissed again. "If it wasn't, you'd already be dead." These words rang in his head. A horrible realization gripped him.

Mosi was right.

Then, all at once, the weight of all of his cycles he lived came crashing down him. He heard his bones crack.

And everything went black.

After Blueberry had delivered the final blow, the tatter serpent went limp. His disjointed nerves twitched sadly over the grass until, they too, grew still, only rippling to life as if they had a dying mind of their own if touched. Crimson blood pooled under Septiezal pitiful, dying body as he laid there in a nest of ferns and entrails. There was no more fight left in the snake, and to the untrained eye, there was no life left either.

As the serpent let go of her leg, Blackberry fluttered away and prepared to scourge her talons across whatever skin she could find. However, the snake wasn't moving. As she watched, Blueberry smash down on him one last time. He was coiled up and only twitched when the moose's powerful hooves broke his body further.

As the battle calmed and the forest stilled, Blackberry crept to the snake's side, ready to pounce if he moved at all. However, he was completely still and bloodied beyond recognition. It was a dark satisfaction that coursed through her at the sight of the snake's mangled body. She did not know his name. It would die with him.

She wanted his gem to hang on her neck next to the bird's. But his head, where she had spotted the dark stone, was buried beneath his coils. Even though he was obviously dead and destroyed, one tug at his body and she realized that there was no getting to it. She hissed with frustration but then shrugged. She didn't need a gem trophy to prove her win of this battle. She remembered the chunk of flesh she had torn off earlier and stalked over to retrieve it. It was caked with blood, but carried the snake's distinct markings. She took her necklace off and tied the skin on before throwing it back over her neck. She looked down at it before turning to Blueberry.

"Our first victory in our reign of terror. There will be many more, I promise you that. But first..."

She strode forward until she was right in front of Blueberry and then suddenly raised her wing and smacked him on the head. "Idiot! Did you forget I was still attached to the snake? You could have hurt me bad or even killed me! Think before you act!" She hissed lowly and pulled her wing back.

They had killed the serpentine creature. Their fist victory. And og, was it glorious. Blood covered the area, leaving a mark on the land of their battle. The snake's body laid on the ground, nearly unrecognizeable.

Blue turned to grin at Blackberry after hearing her little speech. She liked those a lot. But instead of being met with praise, he was clonked on the head and scolded like a child. Oh yeah, he deserved it. Throwing her around like that was not a good idea.

"I apologize Miss Blackberry, I didn't know he still had you. I thought you were separated." Blue apologized, averting his gaze to the ground. He really hadn't meant to hurt her. But Blackberry was right. He had done something foolish and stupid. "I'll make sure to think next time."

Blackberry glared at Blueberry, but she felt her anger melting away. The moose had done well after all. She shook out her feathers and then turned towards the way they came. She wanted to get out of this stinky bog. "Make sure you do think next time. It could get us into serious trouble."

She had to forget about this now. They had better things to do. Like finding their next target. She stormed away without looking back, now forgetting whatever mistakes Blueberry had made. She was thirsting for more blood, for more death. She needed it. Now.

Blue figured she wasn't too angry, because if she was they'd be fighting. Actually, scratch that. He'd be getting beaten and not fighting back. Blue would never intentionally hurt Blackberry. The moose followed the goose from the swamp, ready for their net battle.
