Winter slid along the stone floor, her tongue flicking periodically as she searched for her prey. Kielo was off somewhere searching for mushrooms and mosses. She didn't like them watching her hunt after the disastrous hunt they had done themselves. Travelling had been fun, though, so far. It had been slower then she was used to, but having company, especially Kielo's company, was definitely worth it.

She finally spotted the mouse, not far away. She froze and pinpointed it, moving the top half of her body back, ready to strike. But it seemed that the mouse had spotted her white coloration and moved just as she struck. She ended up slamming her head into a rock instead, leaving the mouse to scurry away.

She hissed, angrily, moving back with her head pounding. She huffed and laid herself down, intending on letting herself rest before she tried hunting again.

They had been following her on Blackberry's command. They had followed the two, the white snake and her strange creature that trailed along behind her. They separated often, but not far enough to keep the battle to just the one. Blackberry had no idea about the hybrid's blindness and didn't want another creature interfering.

But now they were separate, now they were far apart. Far enough that their cries wouldn't reach her friend or their friend wouldn't get there in time. But Blackberry did want them to see, see their precious snake's mutilated body up close.

She leaned down and affectionately nudged the three trophies hanging from her neck; the gem and tail feather of the blue bird, the flaming snake's skin, caked with dried blood, and the torn and smashed talon of the ice dragon. Three well deserved trophies. She hoped that she would get another one soon.

She turned to Blueberry and looked at him firmly. "Whatever happens now, you do not interfere. However, if the snake bites me, get ready with those plants you grew for me when you first met. I will need them." She turned back to her quarry and spread her wings. She leaped from the rock she was perched on, but she didn't catch the air and, instead, slammed down onto the ground behind the snake.

However, she was determined not to show her mistake. She jumped to her feet and faced the snake, hissing with pleasure. "Do you remember me, snake?"

Blueberry was ready for another battle. He wanted to spill blood, to taste death. He wanted to paint his antlers red with the essence of their enemies. Blackberry stopped, and Blue knew there was a battle to come. He felt his insides fire up, the heat of the battle already fueling him.

But Blackberry told him not to interfere. She told him not to do anything, and that frustrated him. How was he supposed to anything?! JUst sit by with plants that the ready? Where was the glory in that? How was that helpful!? Blueberry wanted to yell at her, but he couldn't she was already gone.

Instead, Blue laid down and focused on his gem. Might as well have the plants ready early. And sure enough, they sprouted just as easily as before. Now to wait and hope that he wouldn't need to use the plants again. Perhaps this was his punishment for being so reckless. Not being allowed to battle. He was being grounded like a small child, and Blueberry hated it.

Winter was just about to let her consciousness fade when, suddenly, there was a loud thud and she was jolted completely awake. She whipped around, her hood flaring with surprise and she froze with horror. Of all gembounds that it would be, it was the goose. But she was almost unrecognizable now, covered with claws and teeth and a weird beak and claws. Actually, another look and they weren't weird. They were terrifying.

The scar on her back ached as she backed away slowly, keeping her eyes fixed on the bird. "W-what do you want? I'm really sorry about biting you, really. I-I-I don't want any trouble, please..." she trailed off as she realized how pathetic her words sounded. There was only one reason the goose had followed her here. And she was certain that it wasn't to talk or apologize.

She stood tall, still half hoping that the goose would leave, but knowing that it wouldn't. But there was one thing in her that was certain. She had to keep her away from Kielo. No matter what. If the goose at all threatened them, she would kill it. No question, no guilt. "Go away." This time, her voice was firm. She glared at the goose defiantly, daring it to make another move.

Blackberry snarled as the claws on her stomach opened up, threateningly. The snake obviously remembered her. That was good. She would pay back every second of pain she had caused her, both during their first fight and during her time in Hell. She remembered her clearly. The snake had been there, biting her and laughing in her face with a hissing voice. She had seen her white scales, her black eyes. She had seen, yes, so she would pay. Like everyone else.

She laughed at the snake's words. Foolish, naive snake. Did she not realize what she was here for? "Never! If you remember me, you remember biting me. You remember how much pain you caused me! And you must remember the torment you saw me through. Every second, a fire raged in my flesh. Every moment more painful then the last. Everyone did it. It's everyone's fault! You kept me alive, in pain! You didn't let me die! I'll never forgive you, or anyone else for that!"

She laughed manically, pointing to the trinkets across her neck. "Do you see these? Those that have fallen to me already! A bird, slain by my claws, another snake completely destroyed, and even a dragon chased away! Fear me, tiny thing, for I have come for my vengeance!"

With a loud, screaming honk, she threw herself forward, her huge claws flashing, ready to pin the snake down.

Winter looked at the goose with shock. She hadn't really expected it to have changed so much. Well, she hadn't changed. She was still crazy and sadistic but there was just a certain...darkness that had thrown her far over the edge of insanity. It made her extremely uncomfortable and sent nervous shivers down her spine and she arched her back as she hissed. Please, no, she pleaded, silently. Why are you here? I don't want to fight! Not now!

But she couldn't sit by and let the goose destroy her. She would have to defend herself. But before she could react, the goose was on top of her with claws she had never seen before. Her eyes widened with surprise as she was slammed to the ground, caught under the huge talons she hadn't expected.

She immediately started squirming furiously, trying to release herself from the goose's huge claws, but nothing she did had any effect. She remained trapped and her heart started beating fast as she realized that she was horribly vulnerable to the goose's attacks. She had trapped her in a way that she couldn't use her fangs for anything. She was trapped.

Blackberry screamed with laughter as the snake tried to get free. But she only gripped harder on the little snake and she couldn't get free. She had her here, under her mercy. But then, she realized, what would she do? She could easily snap her neck or choke her to death, but where was the fun in that? No, she needed to do more. Spill blood and taste it.

She dug her claws into the snake and lifted her from her place on the ground. With a good amount of force, she began to smash her into the rock that she had pinned her up against. She doubted it would do any damage to the gem she had noticed on her back, but she knew that it would, at least, hurt.

Winter cried out when Blackberry's claws pierced her side. She felt blood begin to wet her scales, but there were other things to be concerned about. In a moment, She felt herself being raised from the ground and, just for a second, she stared into the goose's eyes. She had seen them before, but they were something else now. Darker, disturbed, and completely mad. And that madness, combined with all the cruelty she had shown before, terrified Winter.

Suddenly, the goose thrust her away and an excruciating pain cracked through her body. She screamed as her stone was smashed against the rock. She didn't feel it break, but raw power shook through her form. She wiggled desperately to get free and, after a moment, she was barely able to slide through the goose's claws, but it widened her new wound. She shot away, breathing heavily, her sides covered in blood and her whole body shaking.

Blackberry laughed and reveled in the sound of the snake's hissing scream. Yes, this was petting the wrath that wriggled in her stomach. The craving for pain and fear from those that had wronged her. Especially this snake. She had dreamed of paying it back, of destroying it for all it had done to her. This was her chance now, her opportunity to settle the score.

But, while she was distracted with her own malice, the snake managed to slip away. She smirked, her eyes darkening. "Can't escape from me that easily," she croaked before opening her wings and following the snake. She opened her claws, aiming for her body to try and lock her down again. However, her aim wasn't as true as before and she ended up near about halfway down the snake's body.

Winter thought she was getting away. She thought she would be safe. But then, she was wrong. Before she knew it, she felt pressure on her midsection and she was stopped in her tracks. She whipped around, hissing with fury, her hood flaring out. She was reacting on instinct as she shot forward, her teeth flashing. But the strike was off and she completely missed the goose in her haste to try and bite her and cripple her.
