Aka laughed. The bird really was a talk and no fight. Just as he had expected. She stood there as he held on to her throat, his talons prepared to squeeze. But he didn't. Aka let go and let himself flutter to the ground in front of the bird.

"Scared of your first real fight? Afraid that you'll lose? ha!" Aka laughed in the goose's face, bringing one talon up to her neck and sliding it across gently. "It would be soooo easy to kill you, what with you standing here all peaceful. Some terror you are."

In an instant, Blackberry forgot everything. The words, the gentle intimidation, everything...she saw red. Her eyes moved to look at the bird's eyes, pure hatred and fury blazing in the pupils. "You asked for it," She snarled. Without any sign she was going to move, Blackberry shot forward, her sharp beak aiming right for Aka's soft stomach that was right in front of her face.

She didnt need to fight. She wanted to be resilient, to show the world that this is what she was doing: what she wanted. But it seemed she had to fight. It seemed she had to kill. And, in that moment of fury, she accepted that.

In an instant, Aka regretted what he had done, feeling a sharp pain in his soft underbelly. He looked down to a nice gash in his stomach, blood staining the white feathers. He groaned in pain, but he wouldn't give up.

The bird reached down and grabbed a spike on the back of Blackberry's head and tried to pull her away, though his strength had faded a considerable amount. He didn't dare look down, though he felt something soft slide down his belly, and a sickening plop as whatever it was, he didn't want to guess, hit the ground.

Aka glared at the goose, his beak open slightly as he fought back cries of agony. She was a fighter, and a talker.

Blackberry felt herself be pulled away with a sickening sound and a spray of blood coated her face. With her horrible sharp tongue, she licked away the blood that had stuck on her beak. It wasn't the best, but it didn't taste bad. She could go for some more.

She found herself face to face with the bird again and the anger surged. Without any hesitation, she lunged forward, opening her beakto catch Aka's threat. She would pay, like all the others. Pay for her insults in blood.

Aka wasn't sure what he expected next. The bird to let him go and nurse his wounds, if that was even possible, or if he expected pity. He wasn't even sure if it was a dream. But the next think Aka knew, sharp teeth closed around his feathery throat, and it pulled away.

He felt his flesh tear open, and his organs tightened as they were ripped through the opening in his throat. Aka gave off a weak laugh, or what was supposed to be one. It came out more like a gurgled cry of pain covered in some dark twisted humor. He looked down, his beautiful, once pristine white feathers now bloodstained, almost like a strangely deformed exotic bird.

Aka tried to speak, tried to give off one last smart remark, one last taunt, but he couldn't. The owl focused on his gem, drawing as little power as he could to turn himself the red of his blood-stained feathers, some part of his mind thinking perhaps if he turned red, the goose would think he was blood and lifeless flesh and leave him be.

Blackberry just stepped back and watched the blood come streaming out of the bird, its organs exposed and its skin torn to shreds. It's throats was hanging from its neck, flopping around like a branch in the wind. Blackberry smirked. The bird turned red, then, for some reason.

Blackberry stepped up next to her and smirked down, observing the beautiful patterns of blood. She must be suffering, in so much pain. So much pain. She began to laugh. Laugh and laugh because the world had rejected her proposal of peace, because it gave her this perfectly good anger, because here she was, standing in front of another bird with its throat torn open and it's guts spilling out, having completed yet another swear of vengeance, although one she had not expected.

Aka heard maniacal laughter as he fell on his back, too weak to even stand. He felt the world begin to fade, the laughter growing quieter and quieter, his mutilated body going numb. As the murderous goose came closer, the owl outstretched a single talon, his gem talon, to try to scratch a wound into the goose. But before he could get halfway to her body, his body shuddered and he grew still. His eyes rolled into the back of his head, though no one could tell.

Aka felt his conscious fade into nothingness, his being and sentience die. His gem faded slowly, its life force fading until the blue sapphire flickered a deep purple, a mix of the maroon of his magick, and the dark shade of his gem. He grew entirely still, blood flow ending.

Long live the king. (fade to death)

Blackberry stared down at the owl's unmoving body with triumph. She cut off her laughing and leaned down to inspect the bloody feathers. Yes, this was what she was. She was not a kind and caring mother, but she would be a deadly, fierce teacher. There was no point in trying to fit a role that she was not meant for. There was no point in trying to evade the darkness and the madness and the hate. That was who she was, at her core. It would always be her. Always.

She had to take her trophy now. She spied the little gem on the talon of the bird's foot and knew that it had to be hers, talon and all. As she leaned down, her necklace of accumulating trophies swung with her. She was proud of this fight. It had been a lesson to her. And the gem on her chest would never let her forget.

She stabbed down with her beak, but it didn't break the talon all the way. She got maybe halfway through the skin.

This time, as she once again thrust herself forward to break off the talon, her sharp beak went right through the flesh and through the fragile joint. There was a crack as it snapped and she was able to pull the talon away.

She carefully attached it to the vine that was ringed around her neck and stared at it for a minute. Right next to the blue bird's tail feather and gem, the dog's emerald and tooth, and now this bird's talon with the emerald tip.

Ruffling her feathers with pride, Blackberry stepped away from the bird's corpse after digging her claws in one last time, sending up a squirt of blood to coat her feathers even more, and stalked towards the entrance to the tunnel she had left Blueberry.

She could go back now.
