GLUTTONY
I'M NOT A GLUTTON, I'M AN EXPLORER OF FOOD

Within the low chambers of Canis, a small orange chrysalis lay hidden among the bones. A very faint glow came from within the medium-sized chrysalis, the only thing alerting anyone of its presence. Inside, a little horned creature felt its belly rumble, the supply of nutrients that kept it alive until now gone. The eyes of the furry creature snapped open, flat pupils peering into the darkness.

It opened its mouth to speak, but no sound came out. It tried to ask for more food, but its cries were silenced by the slimy liquid inside the hard shell. The goat lashed out at the hard rock of the chrysalis, its sharp hoof doing nothing against the rock. The goat continued to try, silently bleating and screaming at the rock, but nothing happened.

The small goat gave up after spending a good amount of time trying to escape its rock shell. It sighed in defeat, deciding to try again later. Sooner than later maybe. It was really hungry as of that moment.

Reseda limped into the bone room, her mending leg dragging behind. Dealing with the leg had been a real pain, since it had slowed her down way too much. But at least it, and her rib, weren't broken anymore. Her recovery spell had made sure of that. However, she hadn't healed herself since she was in Polaris. She probably should do that soon.

However, before she could sit down and give herself another refresh, her eye caught on an orange crystal. She lumbered towards it, wondering if this was the world's way of giving her compensation for her failure. No, she didn't believe that. But it was something.

She reached its side and faintly saw a gem within. A little thing, unhatched, and looking a bit disappointed. It couldn't hatch. She decided that she might as well help. Perhaps it was something that she could use later on.

She raised herself on her hind legs and aimed carefully. With a strong swipe, she smashed her leg down on the top of the chrysalis, careful not to go all the way through and hurt the thing inside. Cracks spun on the gems before it shattered under her weight and she quickly retracted her leg and fell back on all fours.

The small goat didn't have to wait long to be free from his hungry littleprison. Soon, a powerful force cracked open the orange chamber, sending the small fainting goat tumbling from his chrysalis. His body stiffened for about 30 seconds, unabe to move at all. When he finally regained control of his muscles, the goat stood. He felt releived, a little upset, and most of all, very hungry. Always hungry. That was the first thing the small goat knew, hunger.

”Uh, thanks. You got any food?“ The little Gemling asked, his belly giving out another low rumble. The small goat jumped a little, but thankfully didn't freeze up and fall. That would have been embarrassing. He gave the thing that freed him a small smile.


”I'm hungry!“

Reseda stepped back as a goat came tumbling out of the shell. It was, to say the least, just a goat and she couldn't help but feel disappointed. She was about to turn and leave when the little thing asked a question. A very simple question that sparked curiosity in her brain. She looked down and stared at the goat for a moment before smiling. "Of course!"

She lifted a claw and tapped it on the ground, summoning a spell she had never thought would be useful. A single yellow fruit popped into existence in front of them. Carefully, she slit the skin down the middle and opened it up to expose the soft fruit on the inside. She showed it to the young one and pushed it in front of it. "There you go, it's very tasty! I can make more if you're still hungry."

The mammal downed the yellow fruit as quickly as it had appeared, peel and all. His grinned at the large lizard and spoke. ”That was pretty tasty, thanks. I'm uh... I'm Gluttony, but you can call me Cal. If you want to. Or Glutton.“ He offered, the name coming out as naturally as a he ate. His belly rumbled again.

Gluttony wanted to know how to make those fruits. They were really tasty, and he was still hungry. So hungry, he didn;t even notice the way he glowed and sparkled.


”I'm hungry!“

The name fixed it in place. Gluttony. Perfect. She gave the little creature a gentle smile. "It's nice to meet you Gluttony, I'm Reseda." She touched the ground again and, this time, more fruits appeared. About five of them, right in front of the hungry one. She pushed them forward, not bothering to open the peel anymore.

"I wish I could teach you the spell, but I'm not sure I learned it myself, actually. I'm sorry about that." Yes, it had been strange. It could have been because of the egg she picked up that had turned into the fruit. She had considered never using the spell and forgetting about it, but it seemed that this would be useful for this creature.

Was it the one? The one that would become Gluttony? Who knows. It certainly had the demeanor and the name right. Now to see if it would be worth her time. "Why are you so hungry?"

Gluttony's eyes bugged out as 5 magical fruits appeared right before him. His mouth began to water, and before he knew it two were gone, and he was quickly scarfing down the rest. They were delicious fruits, soft and not super juicy, but still were moist. They didn't require much chewing either, soft and very mushy. It made them better that way, he could east faster.

”It's okay. I can find more food, I think. Um. These are really good.“ Glutton said in between mouthfuls of food. He finished the small pile of food, his belly satied, if just for now.

”Not sure why I'm so hungry, just am. And food is really good too, like a small bite hapiness to take away the pain that hunger brings.“ The goat replied, sounding a little bored. Though, he wasn't at all. Food was his favorite subject already.
