"Yep, I'm better," she chirped brightly, nodding enthusiastically. It seemed like Quix was starting to get the pull of bacteria, like she might just be able to move them outside of her body... Gosh, the little one certainly learned quickly. Tilting her head, she raised a wing towards the water. "Try doing it with the bacteria in the water, first. Imagine it like a whirlpool..." Bevy had never seen a real whirlpool, but somehow the word came to mind and she knew it was the right one. Careful not to pull the bacteria towards her, the pitohui bird stared into the fuzzy whites that lived in the pool and tried to get them spinning as a demonstration.
"It's easier when you can think of a shape or a pattern to make them move into or towards. Like a wave, or a cloud," she explained, considering how she usually played with her own magic. Her head was spinning now, a wave of exhaustion coming over her. The failure from earlier seemed to really be affecting her, as she failed to so much as move a single bit of bacteria around the water. She shook her head-- which made her really woozy-- and stepped away from the water, settling down on a small outcropping of rock.
"I think I need a break," she peeped softly. She wanted to encourage the vulpine gembound, even if she thought she couldn't try much more for a little while. Taking a deep breath, she tagged on a short series of chirps, "feel free to try though, I'll watch."

Bevy was up and about, ready to teach her another thing! The fennec fox purred in delight and swiped her little tail in excitement. The birby was now talking about the water! “Ooh! Like how Bevy Birby cleans the water!” she quipped enthusiastically. She liked the idea very much! Quix could help maji if she knew how to do this! All that she needed to think of now, according to her friend, was a shape. The girl chittered a string of nonsensical words as she thought about it. She loved ups and downs in life like an adventure. A wave it was! It suited her so much. “Awww bummer,” she sulked as Bevy failed to perform. She nodded as the bird took a backseat. Now was her time to shine! Moving closer to the edge of the pool, the fennec fox tried to envision a wave and targeted it at the brightest itty bitties residing in the pond.
Nothing happened. Silence met silence. Quix didn’t want to give up but a wave of exhaustion washed over her too. She turned to Bevy, feeling disheartened but of too gallant and spirited a nature to show it. “I’m tired Bevy. Maybe you can show me how to use the vines and moss?” The girl was up again, disappointments cast to the side. No matter, she had learn the methods from the birby and could practice on her own! Immediately, she hopped over to the piece of moss she had nabbed and carried it back to Birby. “Will Bevy Birby feel better if I cover her in this moss?” she asked innocently, before proceeding to plop the wet blob of moss on top of Bevy’s head.

Bevy was a bit disappointed that she had not only failed her apprentice, but that Quix hadn't been able to quite get it yet. The pitohui bird would have to think on how to better teach her new pupil, but that could wait for another day.
A sudden flash of motion had the tiny red and black bird puff up like a popcorn kernel, her wings spreading out in surprise, but it all was too quick for her. Plop! The fox moved like a little blur, and suddenly there was a bunch of cold, damp moss on her face. Blinking, her crown of feathers poking through the clumps of greenery, she processed what the pup was trying to do... And then she let out a chuffy, chirpy laugh.
"Yeah, that does feel better," she peeped, leaving the moss where it was for now as she got back to her talons and hopped over to the vines and the leaves. It probably looked silly but that was alright with her. "I'm still trying to learn myself," she admitted. "But I have these leaves collected so if someone gets a cut, we can put the leaves on there so no dirt can get into the wound. Say your leg got a scrape," she suggested, tilting her head for a moment before turning to the leaves and poking through them with her beak.
"We could put a clean leaf on it, then wrap a vine around to hold it in place." Bevy certainly was no expert-- more like a child playing doctor than an actual person with proper years and years of training. She was certainly trying though!

She did it! The moss must have worked! Bevy chirped at her and started to hop over to another place, no matter that half the moss had by that time littered onto the ground. “Moss for Bevy! Bevy feels good!" she squeaked, facial features and large, furry ears pulled back in a foxy little smile. Her attention was drawn away from the moss then as the birby picked up a couple of leaves. She listened attentively as Bevy spoke of placing the leaf on a cut and wrapping it up with vines.
Immediately, many questions ran through the young one's mind. “What kinda leaves! Any leaf? Show me!" Quix stretched herself out onto the floor till her tiny head and forepaws reached Bevy's chest, then she waggled her right paw at the bird and looked at her energetically. Yes, Quix would offer her leg to be a guinea pig for Bevy birby! The girl then remembered something! "Spider webs! Spider webs stopped bleedin' too! Roll em up and put them on wound!" She had discovered the waterproof properties of spiderwebs quite by accident, while adventuring around. This was good knowledge and currently the only healing knowledge she had to offer. Oh, wouldn't Bevy be pleased with her! She wanted her mentor to be proud of her. The girls tail wagged furiously and she let go a couple of barks, releasing a bit of all her stored up energy. This was exciting!

The pitohui bird couldn't help but feel a fuzzy warmth in her chest as the cute fennec pup offered out her paw to test her medic skills on. "Okay, I'll show you," she peeped, grabbing a leaf that wasn't too wide, mostly lengthier compared to the others. As she did so, Quix suggested spider webs, something that the little bird hadn't considered and might never have thought of... Spider webs were icky, and a pain when she flew through them. She tilted her head (losing a considerable amount of moss) and grabbed a short length of vine in her talons before hopping over. She placed the leaf over the paw, the smooth side facing the fur.
"There's these leaves that have a fuzzy underside. If you put the flat side on the wound," she suggested, testing out her theory for the first time as she got the vine around the leaf. "Then the bandage has an easier time sticking to the vine and not moving about so much." She paused explaining to use her beak and her talons to tie a rudimentary knot-- it was a bit sloppy, her first time trying to tie a not on someone else.
The bird tilted her beak up towards the bright blue eyes of her new group mate. "Spiderwebs are good idea. We should go look for some... What's the best way to collect them, do you think? Sticks, maybe?" She hoped they wouldn't have to fight any nasty spiders for the precious webs, but it would be good to have as many supplies as they possibly could get. She was so relieved to have someone else helping her finally, someone who seemed sincerely interested in her work.

Quix was delighted when Bevy birby agreed to try on her paw! She was excited to get to be experimented on. When the bird hopped over, she was careful to ensure her paws did not brush against the Birby’s feathers. What a shame, she had wanted to hug and cuddle Bevy at first. Quix’s eyes opened in amazement as Bevy continued her teaching and pointed out the difference between the fuzzy underside and the other flat side. “I din’ know that!” She quipped, and committed this useful piece of knowledge to memory. “Flat side not fuzzy side, flat side no fuzzy side,” she chanted to herself in child-like fashion, just as Bevy tied a clumsy knot. It did not matter to the child that Bevy was not as precise as hooking the vines around each other. The technique was perfect to her.
“Eee! Quix has a pretty paw!” The fennec got onto her paws and scuttled around, eyes enthralled by the pretty leaf on her paw like an adornment. Bevy liked her idea about the spiders too! “Spiders in webs,”“Stick! Quix uses stick and ca-ter-pi-llar to lure spideys but any insect works! Put stick on insect! Clever Bevy” the girl sung and licked her fangs. Using a caterpillar to catch a spider meant two insects! That was a meal for the fennec. She scrambled off her ledge. “Spidey hunting with Bevy! Come!” she yipped and click-clacking, scrambled to check out the corners of the cave.

In the recesses of some Pisces rocks, a spider eloquently weaves her nest. Maybe it would be a fantastic sight if this spider weren't the size of a dinner plate, perhaps larger. Long legs tucked silken strands of web together and created her nest and trap for insects. She seems content with her work, ignoring everything else.

Not too shabby, Bevy thought as her little prodigy scampered around, yipping all happily about her new pretty paw. Hopefully if someone came by with a cut she could help them now, more than she did when Leon had hurt Makyna... Her bacteria healing had done enough to keep her friend from getting sick, but the scars showed through her light, sandy fur to this day... And despite how irrational it was, Bevy would always think she could have- should have- done better.
The fennec fox started talking about using a stick with a caterpillar to lure the spider... Frankly, the pitohui bird didn't want much to do with spiders in general. As she followed the pitter patter of tiny fox paws to a spider den, she hoped that the spider would be... well... not home. Her bright red eyes caught sight of the arachnid from a mile away (not literally) and her heart dropped. Hopefully it wouldn't bite or anything-- the cave spiders were just about as big as she was.
"Be careful Quix," she peeped, hopping over to inspect the scene. Yeesh, how were they supposed to get a web away from that nasty thing? Suppressing a shiver, Bevy started to look for a nice, long stick that they could use. The longer the better, honestly.
;; post roll!
Thankfully, she found a stick almost immediately! Picking it up in her beak, she returned to Quix's side, offering it to her. "Rright, hre's th'sthick," she chirped through the wood. Maybe, um, the fox cub would be more willing to poke at the spider than she was.

They soon came face to face with a large cave spider spinning its web lazily. ”Shhhhh!" the girl mewled to Bevy and instinctively crouched lower to the ground, thinking of how she could creep up on it. Quix did not want it to be disturbed by any noise that they would potentially make nor her slowy movements towards it. The tan fox nodded to Bevy in acknowledgement of her warning and flashed her a grin. This birby was so kind, and cute and caring! She really really liked her. Then, she was back to her business, adjusting her muscles neatly before she started to streak forward towards the spider, close to the ground. ”Bevy, get the web while I lure the spidey away!" The girl was excited, not too scared by the spider. She was the predator of it, and she loved how it tasted! What an excellent meal.
As she neared the web, a couple of meters away, she slowed her pace and crouched down even further, then counted in her head. One, two, three! she was off in a flash, streaking in to swipe at the unsuspecting spider, hoping to either scare or throw it off balance so that Bevy could get the web. As she lounged in, she gave a sharp bark and brought her claws raking over its back. She was successful! Immediately it turned around and chattered angrily at her. The girl then took a huge whack at it and it fell off, scurrying angrily towards her. Quix wasn't so sure then she could solo fight this large thing ... almost as large as her. ”Bevy, quick! Get the web!" It didn't matter that the web was broken, all they needed was the material. Quix then ran faster, luring this angry cave spider further away, towards the main area.

Fear almost-- nearly!-- seized the gentle, soft hearted little bird as the tiny fox attacked the cave spider head on. She felt her wings grow stiff, and her legs trembled, glad she wasn't flying right then because she would have surely plummeted. It was only Quix's sweet, sharp voice that brought her back, commanding her to get the spider web... But her sandy fur flashed away, drawing it out to the main part of the cavern... Towards everyone else.
Although she was frightened, a certain strength came through to her and she forced herself to shove the stick into the web, wrapping it up into a huge glop, clutching her prize. She had to go and help Quix, surely the spider was just as likely to eat-- or at least hurt-- the fox as she was to do the same to it. Bevy did not have time, not anywhere near enough time, to find a place to put her stick. She would have to take it with her. Spreading her wings, she shook the fear from her feathers and took off, going to join the pursuit. Had it not been for the stick in her mouth, she might have raised the alarm, but since last time that happened a gembound had died, it was probably a good thing she couldn't.
