Kovares was curious, as he always tended to be. The thing that sparked his curiosity the most at the moment, was The Spire, the massive column of rock that jutted from the ground of Polaris constantly seemed to be charged with energy. He slowly shook his rattle in an attempt to match the frequency of this enigma. Yes, he wondered what secrets it held, how it came to be, all that it has seen.

The lithe rattlesnake flicked his tongue out, smelling the air, he had grown hungry in his state of mesmerization. He started to slither off to the side, searching for something to eat. He saw a rat after a moment, but it quickly disappeared into a tunnel.

Now was as good a time as any to explore the rest of the caves and see if anything else had changed. He found his way to Polaris very quickly and was eager to feel the surge of energy the room provided. It filled his pores and gave him a whole new energy by just walking in! After meeting with Eythan randomly in Tunnel I and meeting Giggle in Canis shortly after, Xerxes wasn't too keen on sitting still. He wanted to explore, and so came the decision to check out Polaris.

Things still looked roughly the same here as well, though things were always changing. Things you wouldn't notice, mostly. Xerxes strode into the room some more, looking up and around rather than where he was going. He was walking towards The Spire with little regard for what was between him and there. Of course he dodged larger objects, however anything small would go unnoticed...

The rattlesnake felt the lion, the vibrations he pt through the air, before seeing him, and barely dodged his paw. "Hey big boy watch where you're walking!" He yelled out in his husky feminine voice, coiling himself up and rattling his rattle. He stared at the lion. "You don't know what might come biting at you if you don't."

Suddenly, someone was yelling. Xerxes stopped, dodging out of the way of the snake he hadn't seen. His ears shot back at the rattler, but he backed away some more when the tail started to rattle. Xerxes wasn't about getting bit today, especially by a snake.

"Woah man, sorry. Didn't see you there!" He laughed slightly, even though the situation wasn't that funny. "What are you doing here, anyway?" ... maybe he shouldn't be laying in the middle of everything and he wouldn't get stepped on, but Xerxes tried to not be rude since he wasn't paying too much attention.

"Well, I was hunting, been a few days since I ate last. And also, this is Polaris, it's kinda active if you haven't noticed in your cycles in this cave." He laughed, loosening up his coiled body and halting his rattle. "I suppose I could ask you the same question though, whatcha doin' besides trouncing around on other gems?" He asked teasingly, slithering a little closer to the much larger gem.

Hunting, was he? Xerxes himself wasn't too hungry but he imaged he would be if it had been a few days since like this other gembound. He looked from the snake to the spire, wondering if he was having any luck near it. Of course, the snake ate smaller prey than he and there were likely to be something around for them to eat. For Xerxes, however, he usually filled his stomach with cave deer or something of equal size and those he found most often in Eridanus.

His snide comment about Polaris being active made him laugh. "Of course I know that! I've been around quite a while." He laughed through the sentence, but it died down once he finished the the snake carried on with a return question. "I respawned from my chrysalis a few days ago and now I'm just wandering around seeing what's changed, if anything." He ignored the remark about stepping on other gembounds, at least the best he could anyway and looked down in time to see the snake getting closer. What was he trying to do, get a ride?! Xerxes hesitated with moving away from the snake however, since his motions didn't seem threatening, but he still didn't know how he felt about being so close to this snake.

"Respawned? Why were you in your chrysalis again in the first place? The only reason I've heard of for that happening is very grave injury. Whatever the reason though, I suppose I could try to fill you in on any whereabouts you want to know about, I'm kinda just creeping around and listening all over the place, I catch a lot of snippets of conversation. Like a fly, err.. snake on the wall." He laughed, curling himself back up in front of the lion, non-threateningly, his head laid on his slender body.

Listening to the snake, Xerxes wondered if it were uncommon to go into your chrysalis otherwise. He'd known others to have done the same over his many cycles, however it seemed this one didn't have such luck. "Sometimes you can go back into it for other reasons, not just near death." He informed, looking down at the snake as he curled back up again. What was it like to be a snake in these caves? Xerxes had always been so large, towering over many of the others while leaving others towering over him even. Being as small as this snake must be difficult, cause certainly Xerxes wasn't the only one going around almost accidentally stepping on smaller gembounds. He couldn't imagine being that tiny, he'd never get anything done!

The slender snake nodded, pondering on his words. He couldn't personally think of any reasons he would want to go back into the restricting confines of his chrysalis. "Well, what would you like to know?" He let himself relax, just laying in front of the lion, waiting for his response.
