Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
So, somehow, this had ended up being a contest of who could out-flirt each other. Already, the proud ram dude had made the first move and that meant that Eythan was now second-best gay — whoops. Not that he had particularly picked up on the fact that they were, indeed, flirting. The best response the gryphon could muster to Aries's gimp leg was quite literally a muffled "that's rough, buddy." Eythan was definitely grateful he hadn't messed up this poor dude's leg; that didn't mean he didn't feel bad, though.
Just to get at Aries, Eythan would continue to call him daredevil, not quite knowing what one was either — it seemed fitting, that was all. "Ah, nah," the gryphon shrugged, head wheeling about in a dramatic manner, "usually I'm babysitting my little brother or pissing about in Canis, the works." Babysitting was totally a hot pasttime, really ham it up, Eythan. "How do you spend your time, Daredevil Ram? Doing sick stunts and sometimes falling?" The tone of the sentence could have suggested derision, but the gryphon was all pleasant smiles and laughs.
Aries laughed at Eythan's little joke, though it did hurt his feelings a smidge. "Uh, yeah actually-without the falling of course. You see those trails along the cliff?"Aries pointed his snout up at the towering ledges. To the untrained eye, the faces looked like steep, and inaccessible, but Aries saw many different sheep trails he used to traverse. "I used to run through them all the time, 'was a lot faster than taking the long way." He turned back to Eythan and shrugged. "I don't mean to brag, but, it kinda came naturally to me too, I was always kinda- I guess you can call it, rock-savvy, haha." Aries proudly puffed and leaned in. "Hey, did you hear about that giant, magical spider golem that attacked the Spire a while back? I helped fight that thing, rode on its back too! He smiled to himself, thinking about the glory days when he fought golems, helped gembounds, and protected the caves from evil. "That's only some of the stuff I did, back.. back before..." Aries' voice trailed off as his pride deflated and sighed. He glanced down at his crippled leg. Before Khloros...
Aries shook his head, realizing he's been talking about himself too much. "But that's enough about me! Where did you say you were from, Canis?" Aries stepped forward, his interest spiking. "Where the Marrowmound is- are you from Marrowmound? " He always wanted to join the bone-kingdom of Canis, but since his accident, Aries avoided that place, but now, he was having second thoughts. Orion was driving him stir crazy. He had to get out. He could find knew meaning within the faction, a zest for life. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to the ram, the Marrowmound, and its predecessor, The Bonebound, had long been disbanded.
The cliff just sort of looked like a cliff: steep, imposing, treacherous, other adjectives. Eythan craned his head towards it, squinting deeply at it. Yep, that's rock. Perhaps it was something like how archaeologists can separate artifacts from rocks with a single glance. Maybe sheep trails were just something you had to know what you were looking for to use. Not that the hybrid was in any interest to snap his ankles in half when he could just fly. Regardless, it was cool that this guy could do just that without any actual ankle-snapping. "Oh, that's fuckin' sick, to be honest," Eythan nodded, bright gaze flicking back to the Daredevil.
"I mean, I can fly, but it'd be really cool to be able to just---" he made a vague sound that resembled vwoop! with a flare of his wings and beak, "--- up a cliff, y'know?" With a bark of laughter, Eythan half-laid on his little precipice, dreamily murmuring, "oh, I wish I was rock-savvy." Of course, as soon as the magicka spider thingamajig was mentioned, the hybrid sprung up to his feet and leaned as far as he could off of the rock. "No fuckin' way! I was there, too! Uh... babysitting my adopted nephew and losing him. He showed back up and the whole gang was trying to beat up that spider! But I ran off to take the little guy home before he got hurt." He frowned, "I must not have fuckin' seen you. Damn fuckin' shame, innit? I could've seen you in the glory days!"
Not the best at offering emotional advice, the hybrid reached out with one careful limb and rested his foot on Aries's shoulder. Eythan furrowed his brows, murmuring, "hey, dude." Wow, off to a great start already! "Whatever shit happens, you gotta get back up. A while back, I was wanting to die but being too much of a pussy to actually do it. Now, I'm babysitting the cutest kid in the world world and chattin' up with the coolest, rock-savviest fuckin' dude in the world." With a shake of his shoulders, he leaned ever-closer, "that's you, by the way." Wow, good pep talk, Eythan! Character development! Getting right into the trauma won everybody's hearts, right? Yeah.
Then, uh, oof. "Yeah, I'm from Canis," he said rather innocuously, unconcerned about his own emotional state for the moment. 'The Moment' lasted approximately two seconds, though, and Eythan's ears flickered back. Immediately his mind flew onto autopilot and his default, horrendously vague response flitted out from his lips: "Carni --- the Bone King --- is... uh, dead. He has been for a while now."
Eager to change the subject, the hybrid peered further up the cliff. "My legs are kinda getting tired as fuck from holding this rock. You wanna take this up or down the cliff?" He could probably carry Aries down, at least. Eythan hadn't really considered going up at all.
