Orlaith was taking a drink in Fornax, happy with her home and the surprises that lay at every corner. She didn't know the name of her home, but she knew it was her home. She knew she was a tiger, and she saw different creatures who looked different, but she knew they were like her. Unbeknownst to Orlaith, she and them were known as gembounds. She hatched from a golden chrysalis, knowing her name, and so much more. She was very independent and was able to feed and take care of herself well enough. The young predator caught rats, mice, rabbits, and lizards. Orlaith may have been a young cub, but she was a golden masterpiece. The young tigress looked at herself in her reflection, then turned her attention to the water as it stretched across the room. Swimming would seem like a fun thing to do, after all, she had nothing better to do. The cub hadn't met another tiger, yet. She would hope to meet one, but it wasn't high on her list of priorities. She knew she would run into one sooner or later. Anything could happen in Origin cave.

A few days after his hatching, and he'd acclimated himself to his small universe. For a while all the cub knew was the castle of bone, but he was easily distracted by the moving creatures in between the massive rooms. While chasing a tiny lesser beast (specifically something that resembled a salamander except it was fuzzy and had a few too many legs) Malik became so enamoured by the act of chasing that he didn't pay any heed to his route. He didn't end up catching the creature either. It somehow vanished from his periphery, likely ducking in to a small hole in the wall that he'd overlooked. Whatever.

He was in a new place now, and that was fine. The boy was still too young to understand the concept of mortal peril, and he certainly had no way of fathoming the strangeness of the caves in their entirety. All he knew was that he hungered, he thirsted, and he was stepping in to a new room within the cave system much like a person might enter a foreign country: oblivious to the customs and all too eager to investigate everything.
