Ayr was very unsure about what the 'olympics' were, or what actual use they had, but she had to admit that she was quite intrigued. The excitement of the other gembounds was quite contagious as well and, soon enough, the unicorn found herself cheerfully pacing along Polaris, tail swishing.

This had been what she was looking for, after all! This is why she finally stepped hoof out of Eridanus, to see what the rest of the caves had to offer and she was quickly finding out so much. It'd be a great story to tell Elspet-- or perhaps Elspet would even come to participate in, ahh---

... in, uhhh...

... whatever you did at olympics!

Well, whatever they were, Ayr would rather watch. But, for now, she wanted to help set the whole thing up. She had no idea where to begin, but she was almost very certain that it didn't matter. Perhaps she could decorate, and make everything look nice.

Yes, that'd be good-- Ayr bent her head down to the floor and shut her eyes.

A flood of magicka left her nose and seeped into the ground below her. With it, came the emergence of dozens of tiny, green plants that licked her muzzle and grew past her, erupting into budding flowers. For a moment, the unicorn stared fondly at the sprouting plants before she turned and wandered further into Polaris, thoughtful about what she should do next.

Wilder had heard about it, the olympics, and it had excited her so much that coming into Polaris had almost no effect on her. The magic of the Spire was still something she felt in the back of her head but the level of energy and anticipation that she was carrying allowed her to feel safe for now. She ran, although it was more of a bouncing prance, to the place where it was supposed to happen. She wasn't going to wait for the Olympics to start, no way! She was too excited for that!

There was already someone there, a big white horse thing that looked really pretty, growing plants around the area so she trotted up to them, her whole, tiny body quivering. "Hi! I'm Wilder! Are you here for the olympics? Wow, it's going to be so exciting!" Of course, Wilder had absolutely no idea what the olympics would be like, but if she had heard correctly, there would be a magicka competition! Wow, that would be so cool!

She needed to make an arena, a very special arena just for the magicka competition. She turned away from the horse thing and went some ways away. Whatever the horse was doing, for whatever part of the competition, Wilder was going to do her stuff somewhere else. Once she was sufficiantly far enough, she found a nice flat area. Perfect!

She didn't really think about the magic she was using, all she knew was that she wanted to hollow out the ground. Make some kind of dip where the performers would be. A nice big one for all the sizes of creatures. And her excitement, combined with the influence of the Spire, surged through her and focused on a point in the middle of where she was looking. There was a blinding flash of light as the stone floor burst into flame and the whole area was suddenly engulfed in plasma. It wasn't, well, quite as big as the whole arena she wanted but it was very surprising. She yowled and scrambled back from the heat, staring at the plasma with shock, which almost instantly changed into happiness.

What a spell! And she had no idea she could use it before! She began purring loudly, prancing around the edge of her little arena, watching the plasma vaporize the rock.

Palefure watched from a little distance away, her whiskers twitching with interest, but her eyes showing nothing but boredom. The olympics, apparently, were some kind of tradition. She was lucky, then, that it was happening during her lifetime. It would be an opportunity to meet others, perhaps train her own skills, and, well, have fun? She didn't understand the concept. She did things to get things done or to be better at them. Not so she could waste her time "having fun".

But, perhaps it would be better to help out a bit. She needed friends. Or, at least, allies. She had learned already that surviving alone was a lot harder then it was with a group. Besides, what was the harm? Do nice things for people and they were sure to do nice things back. So she stood from her spot and padded over to the place where the other two were already setting up. "Hello," she mewed pleasantly. "My name is Pale. What help do you need to setup? I hear the Olympics are happening soon."

Long ears flicked back as Ayr heard a voice, turning her head over to regard Wilder. The unicorn bowed her head cheerfully and gestured out to the field of grass and budding flowers. "Hello, Wilder, I'm helping to set up the olympics," she said, then paused. "That is not my name, of course-- I am Ayr. It is good to meet you."

She began pacing out along the field she'd created-- though jerked back as a burning crater swallowed the cave floor, smoking with plasma. Okay, then, she thought, blinking, and made a point of getting some distance from Wilder. Subtly, of course-- in Wilder's eyes she was likely just going to set up something else.

"Hello, Pale," she said, her tone still cheerful despite the mild fright she'd just recieved. "A lovely name-- ahhh, we need some stones set up by the river and marked red for the racers."

She reached the other side of her growing field and bent her head down quietly, reaching out to the flowers. Magicka coursed through her and the plants began to grow and grow, thick grass sprouting and flowers beginning to rise and bloom all sorts of colours, pinks and blues and yellows, bursting with life all around them.

Ayr hummed, contentedly-- though a migraine was beginning to quickly approach.

But, neither cat replied. Ayr shook her head faintly and turned to wander off, tending to the plants she'd already made and nursing her headache.

Wilder found herself quite tired from that last bout of magicka and wasn't sure she wanted to try it again. Besides, she could see the distant forms of gembounds beginning to gather. The olympics were going to start soon!

Distracted now, she hopped off and away towards the place were the Olympics were set to start.

Palefur nodded and turned towards the riverbank. It didn't take long to begin collecting a large number of stones, pulling them from just inside the river and around. She wasn't sure how many were in the olympics so she thought she might as well mark a pretty large collection of them. Maybe 15 or 20.

But how to mark them red? She had no idea how she was supposed to get any kind of red dye so that obvious decision, then was to use her own blood. Perhaps others would be not so comfortable with the idea, but she didn't mind. She lifted a paw and bit the pad hard enough so that blood would start dripping but not so big that she wouldn't be able to race in the next couple of days.

She began the work of smearing bits of her blood on a number of different stones and putting them in the pile, ranging from larger rocks bigger then her paw to tiny pebbles that got stuck in her toes. After a little bit, she thought she'd done a good enough job and stepped back to admire her handiwork.

She glanced over, but the other cat was gone and the horse seemed preoccupied with the flowers. Rolling her eyes, she figured that she'd done enough. She gave her paw a few licks to stop the bleeding before heading away.
