As he rested a little longer - he didn't want to risk blacking out again - he thought about what to do. Did he dare risk attempting the summon void spell again? Or would that just make it hard for whoever went next? He'd probably fail, anyway. The multishadow and shadowplay spells would probably be good. He'd used one of those last time and it had gone well. He could do it again, surely. He wasn't sure what he'd do for the third spell. Maybe the orb one...It was simple, but he still liked it.

He decided that right now, he's going to redo some of his spells. Starting with the bauble one. He quickly found a pebble and set to work, focusing on it. He didn't want to fail again, he'd done quite enough of that.

This time, it worked much, much better. And he was very grateful for that. If it didn't work well on the first try, then he had planned on finding another and baubling that one after he had finished with this one. But it took hardly any time and work to bauble this one, and it soon became infused with light that glowed brightly.

Good. He was almost done.

Before he worked on his next spell - he wasn't even sure what he was going to do - he decided to take a break. He definitely didn't want to pass out again, as that had most certainly not been fun. Not at all. So he lay down, though he didn't sleep.

He just listened around him, to the constant chatter that seemed to be in Polaris at all times. Lots of gembounds were in here, and now was certainly no exception with the olympics. Lots had come here to participate or even just to watch.

He had come to Polaris because he hadn't been sure where to go. Certainly not to Orion. He wasn't sure if he'd ever be able to return. He needed to find a new home. Polaris was an option. He'd been here many times in the past, and had once thought about making it his home. But Orion had been a better choice. It was where he had hatched, after all.

But now Polaris was a good option. Still, after this competition, he might see where else there is. He's been in many caves, but it's been a long time for many of them since he lived in Orion for so long.

It was time to focus on the next spell. He wasn't even sure which one he was going to do. He decided he'd just choose one at random. Draw his magic out and...well, see what happens. Hopefully nothing bad would happen from that. He didn't want to do the void spell...and he also didn't want to pass out.

He hoped none of those would happen.

This spell was....different. He didn't recall ever having it before. It was pretty though, that was for sure. He could definitely do this one in the competition. Pretty lights...What else could he do with it? Make his fur glow? More than the usual glowing spell, anyway. It surely couldn't hurt to try.

...Maybe after he took a little break, that is.

As he rested, he thought about Kin-kin. He remembered seeing her in his weird dream. She'd changed a lot from the time he first saw her. The first time he saw her had been right after she'd hatched. She was small and terrified, hiding underneath a blanket.

But in the cycles that had passed, she had grown. And oh, how she had grown. She went from a scared little pup to one of the most confident (and rather egotistical) gembounds in the caves. She was the champion of magic until she lost that title last year. He hadn't exactly seen her response to that, though he figured she had surely been upset.

Oh well. Times change. That was something he knew all too well.

Ok. It was time. Time to do this spell again. He had an idea of what he wanted to happen, it just...had to succeed.

He closed his eyes and imagined drawing the magic out, the light out, and forming it. Anything to make it work. He was starting to get very very tired, and these little breaks just weren't cutting it as well anymore.

It worked. Oh, how it worked. The light danced across his fur, flickering up. It was very pretty, he had to admit. This was definitely a spell he had to do during the competition. Hopefully it'd impress whoever was judging.
