Kera was about half-asleep when she heard her name being called out to step into the wrestling arena. She flicked an ear back and forth, blinking blearily, before she yawned and pushed herself up, plodding by into the ring and shaking her fur out.

This was the first fight Kera had been called for-- though there had been many before her. She had no idea, of course, how the match-ups were meant to work, but Kera was unsure if that entirely mattered. It was for fun, mostly. Unless she was matched up with Blackberry or one of her hellspawn, but they probably weren't dumb enough to come here after trying to kill everyone in Eridanus.

Probably.

The wolf, when she arrived, stretched out her front-half as far as it would go, chest almost touching the ground. She pulled herself up, and then stretched her hind legs backwards, one at a time, and then shook herself a second time.

Weary, but just about ready to go, Kera ran her tongue across her jowls and scanned the crowd for the other participant.

The big bear lumbered forth, shaking out his own pelt. He licked his jowls, too, and eyed the small white wolf before him.

He knew better than to think he would win simply due to her size; his fight with the fossa had been very, very close.

"Hyello," he informed her, his accent thickly coloring his words. "I am Sergei. We fight now, yes? I will fight with honor." Those r's succesfully rolled, he settled himself on massive paws and waited for a judge to tell them to begin.

Glory stepped up to his podium once again and gazed down at these two new combatents. The bear from earlier and another wolf, although this one was white rather then black. He narrowed his eyes and his gaze stayed on her for a moment longer before moving on. "Welcome back to the Wrestling competition! Our current matchup is the bear Sergei," and here he gestured towards the bear, "against the wolf Kera!" And he opened the other to gesture towards Kera.

"Now, I want a clean fight! No claws, no teeth, no shedding blood or breaking bones! I'll be watching carefully! Now, whenever you are ready, begin!" He threw back his head and opened his beak, a burst of fire erupting from within to signal the beginning of the competition.

Kera had to crane her head back a bit to actually look entirely at her opponent. Briefly, she was intimidated-- but the wolf knew that the advantage of being smaller and presumably quicker would do her well here. She took another moment to lick her jowls before dipping her head.

"Hello," she said, at least managing to disguise the amusement in her voice at Sergei's accent. "I'm Kera. I bring light." Because she did.

She gave Sergei a few more seconds to brace after Glory's announcement to begin. In the meantime, she quietly wondered where the hell she was meant to begin with attacking this one. Typically-- in other fights, which had been nearly to the death --she'd use magic to throw him off.

As much as she could do that, it'd probably be rude. Or dishonourable.

... then again.

"You first," she decided, paws parting to prepare herself to start wildly avoiding gigantic bear-paws.

Sergei listened sombrely, eyeing Glory's fire. At the bird's warning, he remembered his last fight--remembered poor Mongo, and his dislocated leg.

"Hyello. Kera. I will try not to break you," he reassured her, and the judge.

He shook himself once more, and when the wolf offered for him to go first, he nodded his massive head. He was, as before, not a creative creature--and his first attack was to simply charge forward, hoping to slam into the wolf chest-first and perhaps to knock her flying.

"Err," Kera blinked, a little taken aback by this... promise. "... thank you?" That seemed like the appropriate response, at least.

And then the bear nodded, and was charging for her.

Kera, for a moment, was almost tempted to try to meet him head-on. Then Kera realised that might actually, legitimately, kill her. Instead, the wolf tried to lunge towards her left, out of the way. She managed it fluidly enough, it seemed-- at least, she was still on her paws and not sailing through the air.

She shifted around behind Sergei, waiting for him to turn with wide eyes.

The bear lurched past, hardly an agile being, and huffed with faint frustration as the white wolf easily dodged him. He turned only slowly, half-skidding to a stop to swivel himself around--and then began powering into another charge, lumbering at a surprisingly-fast bear gallop toward her.

Being spectacularly uncreative and entirely non-agile, he just tried to knock into her again--but this time to try and slam her down, rather than to just shove into her chest-to-chest. He'd rush and try to close with her, to get his body over hers and drop his weight onto her. He might not have been agile, but he was, at least, relatively swift.

Kera knew that, as much as she could continue dodging the bear over and over again, it wouldn't exactly make it a wrestling match. As the wolf skidded out of the bear's way again, she came up towards his left side.

And, perhaps foolishly, sprang.

She knew she couldn't do any actual damage, but this was likely better than nothing. She tried to land on and then take a grip of Sergei's back to hang on-- if she even managed to get up there in the first place, that is.

The bear found that the wolf was too agile--she'd dodge him, undoubtedly, over and over. He turned just in time to see her leap for him.

That, at least, meant she'd be close enough to hit, or grab--she had left him an opening.

With a grunt he twisted, rearing up to meet her leap, trying to 'catch' her in his heavy forelimbs and grip her to his chest while pushing onto his hind legs. Hopefully, if he managed, she'd be neutralized as any sort of threat; if he could hold on tightly enough, dangling her up over the ground, she couldn't really harm him.

Maybe she'd just give up.

Kera was met with bear, alright, but not exactly on her own terms. "What the fuck--" she gasped as thick bear-arms went over her, and she did what anyone would do.

She struggled.

She flailed.

She twisted and she whined, trying to break back out of the bear's arms. Her own legs were being held too tightly to actually kick, and she feared that if she bit, then she'd end up drawing blood.

This seemed like the best move for her, at least.
