It's been a while. How long a while? A while while. Maybe it was time to leave? Leave where? Here? The caves? No, the caves were home. There was nothing but caves. There was nothing out of the caves, or was there? There were clanging noises in the walls. Maybe that was what was outside. Big golems made of metal trying to get in. The walls were all that protected them from the golems outside. He was safe in here! Why leave the caves?
Then maybe leave this cave. This small little hole. Ugly hole. No, not ugly, just way too colorful. Why were the rocks blue? Maybe because they're made of blueberries. Interesting theory. Perhaps he should try to take a taste. He liked blueberries.
It didn't even cross his mind that he had always been living in a cave of rocks and they had only recently started looking blue. It suddenly became certainty in his mind that he was, in fact, living in a cave of blueberries. He jerked forward and opened his jaws, trying to grab at the rocks with his teeth but the second it his his tongue, he recoiled. Why did that taste like salt? It was like he'd dived into Fornax and drank a whole bunch of water! Weird. Not blueberries.
He was tired. He should sleep. But he'd been doing nothing but sleeping for the past seven cycles! He'd eaten a whole bunch of stuff, yeah, although he wasn't really sure what he had eaten. It had all kind of changed and looked weird. Some of it tasted good some of it tasted like he'd dragged his tongue across sand. Food wasn't supposed to taste like that.
Sometimes the corpse of the animal he'd killed had suddenly come back to life! There were a few of them, now, sitting around his cave. He didn't recognize any of them, or perhaps he had forgotten them. That happened a lot lately. They mulled around and spoke in languages he didn't understand, every so often running in a circle or dancing on their tales. Sheng wasn't going to judge them.
There was a sudden, horrible banging noise behind him. The hybrid shrieked and didn't even think about it. He bolted. He shot straight out of his cave and into Polaris, much faster then one would expect for a creature his size. He ran and ran and ran, looking back once and not daring to do it again because there was a thing behind him. He couldn't even describe it if he tried, it kept shifting and changing and it was scary.
A few minutes later he couldn't keep running and slowed to a stop, panting heavily, turning around to stand up to the creature, but it was gone. No sign of it at all. Confused, Shengxiao looked around. He didn't recognize this place at all. Had he gotten lost again? Lost as usual. Lost! His feet began to move, although it was a strange sensation, like trying to walk through mud. He didn't know where he was. Lost again!
