"I don't think I could find life filled gemstones. Sorry Glory, but I'm gonna have to walk away empty handed. But it is it ok for us to be friends then? It's the least I can offer for disturbing you. I would like to see you again someday." Zelk felt a bit bad for wasting Glory's time and not being able to offer him anything, but she did want to befriend the bird. How cool would it be to befriend a blacksmith?! The bear waited for Glory to respond before she went on her merry way.

Glory deflated a bit at Zelk's refusal. "Ah, okay. I see. That's alright. If you ever change your mind, I'll be here." He was about to turn back into his cave, but her next question caught him a little off guard. Friends? Was that how others made friends? Just asking for it? Glory didn't really have a lot of friends. He considered Dread a friend, but their friendship was based off of his constant gifts. He considered Catalyst a friend, but only because they had hatched together. He considered Eythan a friend...but that was because he had made him good, strong stuff and he had been friendly and enthusiastic.

He shrugged. "Uh, yeah, sure. If you want. Stop by anytime. I'll be here."

Zelk gave a happy nod as she turned away. "Thanks Glory. You take care now, I'll be off to find something to eat. Good luck on your work!" With that Zelk began lumbering away out of Monoceros and find some cave rats or fish. Using her earth magic sure made the bear really tired. Now she learned a lesson on not to use magic just to get someone's attention. Hopefully she would not do that the next time. Zelk wandered off leaving her friend to finish his work.

Glory nodded and watched the bear leave. He wouldn't really mind if she came back, or if she didn't. If she was really a member of the Bonebound, which he'd confirm with Elyon when she came to retrieve her things, then she was welcome.

He turned back to his cave and walked up to the shield laying on the anvil. He frowned at the sight of the dent. He still needed to get that annoying little thing out. Perhaps if he was careful, he could speed up the process.

Glory opened his beak and spat a glob of superheated fire onto the damaged area. It wasn't enough to completely melt the metal, but it would suffice to make the area he needed nice and pliable. He waited a moment and, once it was properly heated, he slipped on a glove and quickly wiped the saliva away.

Glory positioned the shield at the edge of the anvil, flipping it over so he was facing the back of the dent. Holding the shield in place, he began to lightly tap at the damaged area of metal. He worked on it for some time, but the damage, it seemed, was a lot harder to reverse then it was to cause. He clacked his beak with annoyance as he tapped away. The more time that passed, the less he wanted to be friends with the bear that had set him back so much time with the shield. And he still had the spear to do as well!

After some time, he began to grow impatient. He didn't want to hit the metal too hard, to avoid completely breaking it, but at the same time...if he couldn't fix it, he might as well start over anyways.

He began to rap the metal harder, a little less patiently and, to his surprise, it finally began to get back to the place he wanted it to be. For the next hour he refined the dent, constantly flipping the shield over to hammer back something until, at last, the metal was perfectly smooth once again.

With a sigh he stopped. With proper heat treating and sanding, he could make it look like it'd never been damaged in the first place! He returned to his work, then, shaping the shield, and letting the frustration melt away.
