as a maiden she tiptoes shy with her light...

Thothaga stared down at the blue jar. Makes colors glow? If she had a face, it would have frowned. She had little to no use for something so superfluous. She almost asked Wilder to trade back but a meek, quadrupedal gemling caught her eyes instead. The brown jar it held looked more useful. "Hey you, soft one, trade with me." It was more of a command as she pushed the blue jar towards her.

"Thothaga speaking."
Thothaga thinking.

Seraphim blinked in surprise as the giant spider pushed the blue jar on to her. "Oh.. um.. ok." The little creatures did say to trade with each other. She rolled her jar towards Thothaga. "Brown is red for the eyes." She told her, watching the spider catch it with her claws. Then she nudged the blue one closer. The cat said that.. this one makes colors glow? She thought of the "stars" in Orion and smiled as she cracked it open with her hoof.
Seraphim had the blue jar.

Now that everyone had a jar and were beginning to open the lids, Wilder excitedly pawed at the lid of the white one, eager to see what was inside. The traders hadn't given them any hint on what was in this one! Surprises were so exciting!

Wilder has the white jar.

Red for the eyes? That sounded ever less useful. Thothaga was about to asked for the blue jar back, but it was too late. Everyone had already started opening up their own jars up. Disappointed, she fumbled dejectedly with the brown one, trying to pry the lid off with out using her still-hardening fangs.

"Thothaga speaking."
Thothaga thinking.

Thothaga has the brown jar.

There was a soft chittering as the merchants examined their new wares. Hairs and stones were exchanged, looked over, and tucked away into pouches or carefully folded into scraps of leather.

There was very little attention paid to the Gembound, and their trading.

Upon pulling the top off the clay jars, whorls of glittering magic would pour forth: infusing the Gembound who had opened it, granting sudden, inexplicable knowledge of new spells.

Seraphim, scraping the blue one open with her hoof, would suddenly have intimate knowledge of the glittering magic left to form brightly-glowing images across surfaces: to paint stories and patterns, reaching her creativity out to all within the caves.

Wilder, popping open the white jar with soft paws, would find her friendly mind abruptly aware of how to create a companion--of a sort: new magic, an arcane familiar able to be conjured and adventured with whenever she pleased!

And Thothaga, perhaps fittingly... as her fangs found purchase on the lip of the lid at last, pulling it open, a more sinister, delightfully ominous knowledge took her. How to intimidate, to flow with magicka in the darkest corners of the cave, her eyes glowing bright red-!

"Good trade," one of the merchants said abruptly, and the others suddenly began to pack up. They seemed more than satisfied, still chattering amongst themselves--but soon the tents and counters were being folded up and away.

They could be sought out by others who wished to trade, though undoubtedly future exchanges wouldn't be quite so easy.

[Event] Origin's Fourth Anniversary: Stock Exchange is now complete! Characters may exit the thread. The Merchants may still be sought out by any characters at any time for future trading.

As Wilder pulled the lid off of the white jar Thothaga had given her and squeaked with surprise at the sudden burst of glitter and magic that blew up into her face. She at first flinched back, but then jumped forward, grabbing at the jar to peer into it further. But there was nothing else inside.

Confused, she looked up at the merchants to ask what was the meaning of this, but then a sense of wonder came over her. There was knowledge in her mind, something new that she didn't recognize. Wait, when did she learn how to do that?

New magic was in her head, knowing how to cast a spell that she'd never even seen cast before. She paused and focused, trying to test out her new magic and, a moment later, a small glowing shape appeared before her. A mouse, light pink and transparent, but it was still definitely there and visible. It wiggled its ears and looked up at her.

Delight lit up Wilder's face in an instant as she gazed down at her arcane familiar. "Oh, wow! This is amazing!" Her tail rose and flicked happily as she watched the mouse fondly. "Thank you so much!" They were packing up now, moving off somewhere else, perhaps, or just closing shop for the day. That was fine! She had something very wonderful and precious now!

She looked up at Thothaga grinning widely. "Wow! Thanks for trading with me Thothaga! What did you get?"
