The white bird screeched and attempted to stand but collapsed back down, crashing onto the ground with a cry. Rafael snorted and pawed the ground, grey eyes growing rounder and larger. "Pain? Oh, bird pain," he crooned, then inched his neck forward as though to nuzzle the bird's nape, there, there only that he rubbed it in the wrong direction, sending the feathers upwards towards its head rather than smoothing it downwards. He then brought his muzzle back to his chest and tossed it up and down, snorted and nickering to himself in delight. Rafael looked at the bird's eyes, pleading now for instant death. "You want it? You'll get it," he yelped and giggled and screeched, raising himself to his full height, rearing and kicking at the bird with his sharpened hooves, then lifting his right talons cruelly to crush down on the bird's windpipe. "Before you die, name?" he asked, voice gushing forward soothingly, concern filling his tones. "Such a poor, poor thing," he chuckled as he increased his grip, ending its life.

Silver felt no fear, nor anger, for the creature's next actions, cruel laughter. No, it was a predator, like him, despite looking like a deer. It offered him death, and despite the joy of doing such from the creature, Silver was grateful when he felt the sharp pinch of hooves against his body- and then, those talons hooked around his neck again and he closed his eyes to brace for the end. What would come of it? What would it be like, to die? He wasn't sure- and a part of that excited him. He barely heard the deer-bird ask his name, but managed a muffled response just before those talons clenched around his throat.

"Silver Helm." He sputtered past his tightened airway, and then, as he opened his eyes one last time to look up at the beast, he found a dull sense of comfort... and after a moment, that vision went white. The pain went away. He felt a sudden pull from his chest, his muscles flinched against his will, beak opened in a gasping motion- and then, with eyes wide open and unseeing, he was dead.

The bird was strangely calm beneath his grip as though it had already decided to cross over. Rafael was annoyed. This prey wasn't fun at all, and so, he tightened his grip further, suffocating the pipeways of the bird further. It wasn't the easiest of tasks for this fawn-sized peryton, but his talons were large enough to hook over the throat of his prey. The peryton tilted an eye towards it and smirked. Silver Helm. Such a...wise bird." And then the lights went out.

Immediately, Rafael tucked into his meal, razor incisors tearing into the meat. Crimson liquid spilled down his lips, staining his muzzle. The peryton didn't care less that this was his first taste of a greater gembound - it was meat all the same. After a while, the bird was nothing left but a pile of broken bones and a disfigured head - and then, Rafael's eyes lit upon the bird's Topaz stone, With a screech, he gripped the shiny thing with his talons and then took to the air, hawk wings carrying him away from the scene of death, stone firmly gripped within his talons.
