Lalreothes was an elegant bird and by all means she was free to strut her stuff. But recently she felt weird, as if something was in her stomach. She had tried to turn the feeling off, but it was still there. She paced back and forth, wondering what to do. Well, making nests made her feel better. Though it wasn't much to find, she gathered some rocks, making them into a comfortable circle. Nope, still not feeling well. She paced back and forth, finally deciding to call out for someone anyone, by letting out large chirps. The bird monarch was not one to ask for help or handouts. But she was unaware of what was going on with her. She stood, hoping that someone would have answered her call.

There was something about Orion. Its charred air sent shivers down her spine, and yet it almost embraced her in familiarity of her Overseer's use of it. Head high, she closed her eyes gently and let herself drink in the sounds of everything around her. There were the squeaks of mice, squabbling of rats, deer trampling and birds flapping.

An eye peered open at an unfamiliar one.

Slowly, almost lethargically, as if she didn't want to move from her bliss, she rose to her long feet and stepped forward, taking in the misty sights around her as she tried to pinpoint the noise. Hearts beat frantically around her- only amplified by her magic- and she let her eyes wander and pick through the reds while her mind sensed out what she needed.

A frantic heartbeat called her attention, one that flared with the calls of... Something. A bird? Her antlered head lowered as she wove through buildings, looking to get closer to what was there. Was it injured? Had the Lessers evolved to sound... Different?

No. They hadn't changed, as far as she was aware. An ear flicked to the side as she stalked, eyes unseeing as she pooled all her resources into the noises.

She noticed the blue before anything else. It was bigger than she expected. Magic shutting off, she tilted her head and looked to the... What was this? Bird?

"Do you speak?" She spoke softly, ears pushed forward and tail curling above her like a flag. It wouldn't be the first time she's spoken to Lessers conversationally, finding solace in them, but this being must be in some sort of distress to put itself out like that.

A mating call, perhaps?

Lalreothes decided to sit in her nest, to make herself comfortable. Suddenly, another gembound asked if she could speak. She rolled her eyes, hating this weakness that came upon her. She spoke with a neutral tone. "Yeah, I can speak. If you'll excuse me, I am in a strange predicament now." Before she could say anything, she felt the urge to push. She let out a surprised squawk, feeling something round leave her. After a couple of minutes, she felt normal again, and the strange feeling left her. She got up, and saw that what was in her nest made of rocks, were six eggs! How could she lay eggs?! This was found in lesser gembounds, but not gembounds like herself! "How is this possible?!" Lalreothes wondered, what was in them?

Mevoh was in the shadows, just getting in on this strange scenario. Seeing enough, Mevoh flew down to join in on the situation. She took a glance at the peahen. She sure seemed beautiful, and quite elegant. The canine however, looked absolutely disgusting. Ignoring the canine, she turned her attention to the peahen. "It seemed you laid unfertilized eggs. Lesser gembound birds can reproduce by laying eggs, but they can also lay unfertilized eggs. Lesser gembound birds, even if they have not courted, they can lay eggs that are not fertilized. That seemed to be the case here, but I never would have imagined for a gembound to produce eggs like this." She carelessly took an egg from the clutch, and used her dangerously sharp beak to peck through the shell. She then slurped up the yolk on the inside. She raided the nests of lesser gembound bird like creatures before. Eggs were eggs, and nothing but food to her.

Strange? "Are you ill?" Her voice was neutral in turn, questioning as her head leaned in.

She took a step back as an egg was released. Confusion came over her in waves, and her eyes were wide in what she was trying to see, ears turning this way and that in surprise. What? What was this? Sapients don't ovulate- it's not effective, not a good use of the magic provided. So why did this one have a system similar to a Lesser?

Was this a new design, created to generate food? But, why sentence a sapient to that? Too many questions ran through her mind before she subsequently shut them out, trying to file away the information without saying anything.

A walking lesson came up to the two of them. Linea’s quills rose in defense as she took a step back, ears turning on the exposition given. She could have stated that, could have informed the layer, but now another bird had done so instead. But- with enough seen, she had no reason to stay.

Her body went tense when the bird proceeded to consume the other’s still warm egg. Was that not- What if- No. Not question time, Linea. Clicking her mandibles to let out her unsettled emotions, she backpedaled slowly, making to leave the two to their odd ways.
