Eve only noticed the shift in temperature the second she landed in Canis. She had grown unaccustomed to it, after staying in Cetus for a while. She had initally intended to ask Giggle about her bones (and perhaps snag a meal), but the more she thought, the less hungry she was.

This, she had decided, was unusual.

She didn't know what people did instead of hunting, if it be for treasure or food, but she had no desire for either right now. The crow lifted her head with a sigh, looking around. She couldn't see anyone - which meant there was nobody to annoy.

The little bird was quiet for a few moments before she craned her neck out forward and delivered a high-pitched shriek, lasting longer than it probably should. She then looked around again.

She ruffled her feathers before she began bouncing around in circles, rather impatiently. She looked at the ceiling, to the left and to the right, even down at the ground, before screeching once more and thumping down onto the ground in wait.

The fight had long been passed but Krakarak still felt the soreness in his foot time and time again. In any case, even when he didn't feel the soreness his walk was certainly off. He always had some sort of limp which only fueled his hatred against pigeons and dove. All of them could rot in hell for all he cared! Sourly the raven sat in his disorganized nest strewn with shiny gems, shiny rocks, and other shiny things in general. The glowing rock that Majesty had given him was clutched in his good foot while he stared a the wall. Smoldering about his foot that didn't seem like it would get any better.

It was then that her heard the high pitched shriek. He knew that voice. He knew it quite well. In answer he gave a loudy throaty croak before opening his wings and seeking out the Tiny Voice. His beady eyes scanned the ground as he soared through the air, rock still in his talon. He finally found her and easily perched right in front of her, coming down carefully on his weaker foot. "Tiny Voice, have you been practicing? Krak Krak!" He limped forward and peered at her up and down. Or was she here for a meal? "Or are you here for more lessons?" He smiled down at her, standing at his full height. Despite his weaker foot he was still the bigger and better bird. As far as he knew he always would be.

He's still limping.

She was fairly sure things got better, they healed. Krakarak's foot was not healing, it seemed to be in identical condition compared to the first time she saw it. Something about an arrogant pigeon - or was it a dove?

She shook her head a little and lifted herself up to her full height aswell (even fluffing up her feathers for good measure - though they were still a little damp) to try match the raven in front of her. She knew she'd never manage to be that big, but she could try.

"I've been practicing!" Eve shrieked, loud as she could. "But I came for lessons!"

Eve, in reality, did not have much time for practice. Most gembounds she met were less... tolerant, about yelling than Krakarak was (who seemed to be very, very enthusiastic about the subject) and so her voice was usually lowered to a degrading volume. It was a shame. She liked screaming, but she also felt a need to be understanding towards peoples' hearing.

Still, she waited for the bird to answer, bracing herself for the screaming that was likely going to occur.

Krakarak nodded his head approvingly, yes, of course she was here for lessons. He had to admit that he felt rather important with such a young charge turning to him for lessons and teachings on such a delicate craft. None were able to reach the volume of the carrion birds. None were so worthy or so gifted with their lovely raucous voices. Most thought of the screeching and cawing and croaking is irritating and grating on the ears.

Perhaps because it was.

Krakarak knew this full well. Why else would he do it?

"Good good! Krak! Lemme hear you! Gimme your best shot! I wanna see how well you've been practicing! Krakarak!" He leaned his head down slightly and turned so his ear hole was in easy easy of beak lest she wanted to scream into it.

The crow peered at the side of Krakarak's head for a moment. She wasn't sure if it was a good idea to ask someone to scream and then get as close as possible to them - but who was she to question this creature's logic? Not the right person, that was for sure.

So, she sucked in as much air as she could into her little lungs, and from her beak came a cacophonous screech. As per usual of the crow's intentionally loud noises, it lasted a little too long - perhaps feeling even longer for the raven, seeing as the noise was going straight into his ear-hole.

She was proud of herself, of course. Once she had finished she seemed to stand a little taller with a particularly smug look on her face, staring up and waiting.

Krakarak was never known for having the best of ideas, sometimes he got lucky and what he suggested was actually decent or good... but not this time. He leaned forward waiting for that screech and the little one let him have it, right into his ear. To him the sound was loud, painfully so, and he let out a surprised and pained caw. He stepped backwards a few paces then tripped over his own feet and fell comically to the ground in a bundle of feathers and legs. The gleaming rock which he had carried with him was dropped in his undignified display.

For a moment he just lay there, softly croaking as he waited for the ringing in his ear to stop. Finally he managed to roll onto his feet and fix the crow with an appraising eye. He looked her up and down before clacking his beak together approvingly. "Not bad, not bad at all." Krakarak wasn't one to give compliments lightly. Well... not unless his life was in danger. "You have been practicing! Krak Krak!" He was speaking a little louder than normal, the hearing in his right ear a little bad due to the crow's exemplary screeching.

"How about this... Being a carrion bird isn't all about screeching and crowing and cawing as loud as you can. There are things you must be able to do." Here he grabbed up his glowing rock again and held it out to show the smaller bird. "Krakah! Krakarak brought this to show you that shinies are an important part of the carrion bird's life. Get shinies to make nest pretty. Krak! Has Eve ever found shinies?"

Eve watched the raven crumple to the ground. Was he dead? He wasn't moving. There was a slight sickish-feeling that boiled in her stomach - sadness, perhaps? She shifted a little forward to her 'dead' friend, going to nudg--

What's that?

All emotions were lost on her - in fact she practically forgot the 'carcass' that was lying there as she started to edge curiously to the little growing rock. It reminded her much of the Magic Rock she'd found with Dragon. Good times.

She jerked and stood at attention (still unfortunately some distance away from the rock) as Krakarak suddenly revived himself from death. She nodded along for a moment, preening in the praise for a moment before she chirped cheerfully.

"I can do better," squawked the crow. "Wait a few minutes!"

She quickly flew off, wings pathetically beating constantly in attempt to keep the tiny bird in the air. Luckily though, she didn't have to go far. In fact, she was scrambling back into position in front of Krakarak no more than five minutes later, with a deer's femur in her talons.

She concentrated on the bone in her talons, tapping it a few times with the out-of-place gem-talon on her foot. Soon enough, the femur began to shimmer a gentle golden colour - much to Eve's smug pride, of course. She lowered the bone carefully and edged it towards Krakarak.
