Untrained, unready eyes blinked slowly open, only to shut quickly again from the sudden change in brightness. It was by no means light in this room but something shined above and burned the child's pupils below. He instead turned his eyes to the ground and away from the redoubted gleam. Around him were silky shards he could not discern. He and the rocky ground were slick with some strange, amniotic fluid. Though the neonate knew nothing about that.

It was strange. One moment it was as if the babe was asleep, the next he was encased by nothing but air and hazy half-light. How had he hatched without even remembering it? His eyes began to adjust and he observed his surroundings. Rock. Dark. Cold. He knew little words, but those came to mind. He was then concerned with himself. Living only as a slumbering child before, he knew nothing of who, or what he was. He was covered in black fur streaked with white on the wide, fluffy tail that curled around him and protected him. Four clawed paws. If he crossed his eyes, he could see the very tip of a brown nose. Since he could see nothing else of his body, this was all the information he could gather.

He finally dared to look upwards. What he saw was no less than magical. Tiny stars, though they were actually crystals, and they softly glowed to greet him. The Unnamed cocked his head, feeling peace envelop him. He could stare forever.
