One eye opened. No light, nothing. Just a dark Chrysalis stuck inside the hole. The dark place with no light. Normally, the maned wolf could see. Their eyes providing any sight that was needed within the shadows. But now, something was wrong. Were they inside their chrysalis? When had that happened? So they did what they did before, when they first became a being. Broke out. The dark and oily chrysalis was shoved forward, shattering like a thin glass cup when a cat knocks it off the table.

Something was different then, too. They were able to flex their toes as a claw moved out of the shattered stone. A claw.... Something was wrong. So absolutely wrong. Eyes looked down to the leg. It held scales, and claws that were like fingers. Looking at the shattered crystals on the ground... They were black, when touched, oily. Was it because they were in the hole for so long? Is that what did it? Turning to walk the rest of the way out of the stone, something was dragging along the ground of the hole. They pulled their ears back.

Somehow their heartrate didn't increase, though they were shocked. When they looked at what it was... Well. Another strange thing attached to the creature - compared to a bat or dragon. Somehow, they were able to fold those wings. They didn't even know how they did that. Blinking, Esther chose to ignore it for now, and walk outside of the hole. Thankfully their eyes didn't get burned by the light, for there was none. The place was covered in a mist, it was barren. They wanted to go see the green place again. But maybe another time. Something told them that they would have to stay close to that place. That they hatched in.

The weird rock had been sitting in the corner for a while. Lit by the not-light of the altar, it was a mottled red. He didn't know what was inside the rock, but he was sure it was something alive. He had been in a rock, once, and he was alive! He'd been checking on the rock frequently, but the rock seemed determined to stay a rock. Eventually he lost interest, and the rock became semi-forgotten.

He was playing outside, now, chasing the moths that liked to hang around the tunnel. He'd yet to catch one, but he was determined! His jaws snapped around the empty spot of air where a moth had been moments before. He was about to continue but spotted a glimpse of movement even more tempting than the moths- a new friend!

He'd rush towards the figure in the mist, going so fast he nearly crashed into them when he tried to stop. This didn't seem to phase him, though. The little pup just grinned. "Helllllloo!" He'd say in almost a sing-song sort of voice, grinning widely at his potential new friend. His gaze drifted up, spotting huge wings and sharp claws. "Woah!!" So cool!! He wished HE had big wings! Then he'd have no problem catching those stupid moths!

It was silent except for a plodding of feet on the ground, some kind of snapping sound. Esther almost thought it was their mind playing tricks on them again, but no, something yelled out a greeting and moved forward. The pup didn't seem to be acerbic - personality wise. Barking out a hello and noticing their form with a woah - and a surprised look.

Esther was still surprised themselves!

"Hello!" they chimed out.
