A multi-chromatic chunk of Spectrolite, reflecting the Spire's blue glow. It had sat, inert, for such a long time. But today, today would be different.

The creature inside stirred, awaking from it's long slumber. It was rather sudden, one moment they were completely dead to the world, the next they were suddenly aware of how small of a space they were trapped, of how claustrophobic it was. They felt something hard and smooth beneath their feet- walls? It was trapping them, keeping them captive in this much too small space, so it had to go.

They weren't exactly sure how to get out. It wasnt like there was just a door they could open. They scratched against crystalline walls, shifting around within tight gemstone cocoon. Eventually, in frustration, they slammed a tiny fist against the side of the chrysalis. A crack form where they had hit it. With new determination and excitement, they pounded against the side, harder and harder.

Suddenly, the chrysalis gave way all at once. In a crumbling of gemstone shards and a cloud of prismatic dust, the baby lemur was freed. They didnt really know what to do after that, though. So they just sat in the middle of the mess of what was once a chrysalis, staring up at the spire.

Evidently, the lemur wasn't able to sit still for all that long. Their attention quickly shifted from the giant, looming crystal to their surroundings. Everything was so pretty! And bright! The blue glowy crystals, glowing moss, the glowing fungi that speckled the ceiling. The little lemur was mystified by it all. Could they glow too? They wanted to! They wanted to be as pretty as all the crystals and moss and fungi!

They didn't know how to glow, but their magic seemed to know what to do. They felt it reach out, trying to do.. something?

Nothing happened. But they knew something COULD happen, if they just tried a little harder. Their fluffy little tail twitched. Could they do it again? They didn't even know what it had been trying to do, exactly, except something (probably) good.

Well, there was only one way to find out!

So.. they tried again. They tried SUPER hard! They closed their eyes and scrunched their face up and focused SO HARD! It just HAD to work, since they were trying do hard! If it didn't work, then that would just be rude! Who would they blame it on? Someone that wasn't them. Like... that big glowy crystal! Yeah! If it didnt work, then it was THEIR fault.

They had reached out, felt SOMETHING, but for it to slip from their grasp, again. It just WASN'T FAIR! They had tried SUPER DUPER HARD!! It was that big weird vrystal's fault! Yeah! It didnt want them to glow because it was MEAN and wanted to be the only pretty glowy thing. Except for the moss and the fungi.. but.. that didnt matter! What DID matter is they were super mad!!

"Hey!!" they shouted up at the spire. The spire, being a giant hunk of crystal, didnt answer, which was RUDE! "Hey!!!" They shouted again, just to get even more silence in response.

They huffed grumpily. Well, if they couldn't do magick HERE, they would go somewhere else and try magick there. Still covered in the glittery remains of their chrysalis, they set out to find somewhere else to practice.

So they toddled off, movements clumsy due to lack of practice. That, and the large chunk of Spectrolite on their head. That didnt slow them down, though! Okay, well, maybe they tripped. A lot. But they were still making some progress!

Eventually, they settled on a spot to resume their practice. They could still see the blue crystal looming in the distance, but decided this was a good enough spot to practice, anyways.

They took a deep breath, and they scrunched their face and focused and focused, just like before. They were DETERMINED for it to actually work, though they still didn't quite know what they were aiming to do in the first place, except for magic. Really REALLY cool magic!

And then, it worked! A pretty, glowy magic... thing, a similar color to their eyes, hovering in front of them, a little above their head. Abra grinned, "Yes!" They did it! They did a spell! It had finally worked!

The bluish whispers hovered just above their reach. They even reached their arms high up into the air and they STILL couldn't reach it. How was this fair? They had CREATED it, and yet the glowy thing was still out of reach, though now in quite a literal sense.

"Come down!" They squeaked angrily. It did.. but it also flew right past them. "Hey come back!" it also followed this command.. a little too well. Once again it flew right past, far faster than they could run to catch it. This continued, the wisp going this way and that, following her commands but also not quite. By the end of it, she was out of breath, her tail fluffed out like a bottle brush. The wisp was finally in reach, she was about to finally grab at it.

And then it disappeared.

"ARRGHHHH!" Why did magic have to be so hard? Why could it just.. work right? Not that she was gonna give up. She would never give up, not ever!

So, time for a second try.

The wisp popped back into existance. Not quite as quick as her other successful attempt, but good enough.

She took a deep breath. Now time for take two!

The wisp still seemed to prefer to fly all over the place, but it calmed down, if only a little bit. She made it swirl around and around, creating brilliant trails of light, until the wisp eventually came to settle a couple inches or so away, hovering a foot and a half or so above the ground. Abra grinned- they were getting good at this! So good, they bet they could make ANOTHER wisp. It'd be a piece of cake!

It would be A little harder this time, obviously, because they’d have to make sure the wisp they’d already summoned stayed put. They gave the wisp a stern glare, like it was a misbehaving child or a naughty pet. Then, they tried to do what they had done before. Well, with a few alterations,. For one, they had to keep a little bit of their focus on the first wisp. Also, they now actually knew what they were trying to do, which would hopefully help. Abra took a deep breath, scrunched up their face and focused SUPER HARD, imagining that a second wisp was floating right in front of them. A Purplish-greenish-bluish fiery thing, hovering couple inches away, a foot and a half or so off the ground. They tried imagining so hard that it’d just pop into existence, like the first had.

And when they opened their eyes, it WAS there! A foot or so away from the first one, hovering just a little lower than the first. Abra grinned, "Yesssss!" they squealed excitedly, tail waving excitedly behind them. Now, they tried to make BOTH of the wisps move, at once! They could only make the wisps move in the same direction, and it was still as wild as earlier, but they could improve that later, right? Right now they were just excited, watching the wisps swirl and fly around in the air. How many could they summon at once?

Well, they'd just have to try and find that out!

Well, time to put her magic to the test! Was it smart for a minutes-old child to be doing this? Probably not! Would that stop her? Definitely not! She was too young to be filled with anything but hubris and curiosity. A deadly combination, if not a potentially hilarious one.

Abra made the wisps swirl around her one more time, reveling in the pretty colors and shapes and swirls blurring around her, giggling and stretching out her arms except that quickly resulted in her nearly slamming her face into the floor so she quickly planted her hands firmly back onto the ground.

The wisps slowed to a stop, bobbing a foot or so away, a foot or so apart from each other. Time to do what she’d done before, which Abra (perhaps foolishly) felt she’d gotten extremely good at. She did it two times, after all! Abra wasn’t very familiar with numbers, yet, but two was a good one, right? It certainly was fun to say!

Oops. Off topic. It wasn’t number time, or funny word time, it was magic time!

Okokokok! Make sure the two wisps stayed put- Check! Squeeze her eyes shut super tight- Check! Imagine a wisp, pretty, blue-green-purple fire thing- check! Abra opened her eyes and…

She saw three wisps! Abra grinned, Yes! Of course it had worked, but still! Yes! She made all three wisps swirl around, like she was in the center of a mystical storm. She was getting a little tired, at this point, but it did little to persuade her.

So… It was time to go ONWARDS!

She didn’t take as long to play with her new wisp as previously- she was too caught up in summoning more and more! She couldn’t waste any time, she was on a MISSION!

So, she gave her wisps another EXTREMELY STERN LOOK, because that seemed to be working. And then she closed her eyes and scrunched her face up which also seemed to work. Then she imagined the wisp floating in front of her because that, too, seemed to be working so far.

The sound of heavy footsteps and grinding stone made her open her eyes prematurely. Unsurprising, but disappointingly, there was no addition wisp. What WAS surprising (and intriguing!) was the weird rock creature now looming in front of her.

"H-Hello?" She'd squeak, voice tiny and squeaky and shaky from disuse (or rather, not have been used at all before in the first place) She'd tilt her head curiously at the creature, having no idea she should be afraid of it. She DID, however, move the three wisps more to the side- she was proud of those! She didn't want anyone touching them!

The Golem was distant yet--roaming a little far from its usual quarters at the Dam. It wasn't clear what had attracted it, but it didn't seem to notice the lemur; instead it turned, lurching and lumbering for something distant.

It was still some thirty yards off.
