Child Name: Up to the adopter! I'd suggest maybe names deriving from the same place as Kaimana's and/or names related to fishing / the sea / old junk like bones. Maybe mix names you like to make a new name! Go crazy go stupid!

Appearance:

WALKING MECHANICS
When standing bipedally, this organism is 11 feet tall at the shoulder. It can choose to walk on either two legs or four, and it sports three sets of appendages that allow it to do so. The top set, a pair of pterosaur-esque wings, can be used for flying (yes, flying!) or balancing (while standing bipedally); the middle set, a pair of jaguar limbs, can be used to let it walk on all fours when the wings are folded in; and the third set, a pair of webbed feet, can be used bipedally (when balanced by wings) or quadrupedally (when wings are folded in and jaguar limbs are in use). It also possesses a jaguar tail, perhaps to help it with quadrupedal walking.

FISHING
Its head, a mixture of jaguar and something akin to a hawk, seems built for catching fish. Its keen eyes are great for spotting movement underwater. Its ears from the jaguar parent assist with hearing many forms of prey. A series of short horns adorn the head, while a strong and relatively short neck upholds it. To absolutely no one's surprise, this creature might be able to dominate the piscivorous world as an osprey-esque diving predator. However, thanks to its jaguar genes, it could probably enjoy other forms of meat if it so chose to try them.

FUR & CARAPACE
Like its alien parent, this beast's stocky form is mostly covered in chitinous armor. Some of the jaguar fur manages to poke through however; on its head, its ears, its underbelly, covering its tail.

The base color of the body is a dark red (#800000). Covering its entirety of its body are dark brown rosettes(#1f1005). Over its face, those rosettes seem to clutter and compile into a dark brown mask (#1f1005). Its undersides are white (#dedede) like those of both its parents, and the edges of its wings are light purple (#b19cd9).

EYES
Its eyes are up to the roleplayer! The colors you can choose from are its mom's BLUE and its alien parent's YELLOW(#ffff66)! You can do any combination of these two that you desire :3

STONE
The creature's stone is marbled serandite and it can go wherever the adopter would like (maybe it, too, would like a stone beard like Kaimana)!

- When coming up with a Personality, try thinking of how Kaimana would raise it (you can totally ask me about this on Discord!) and what kind of dynamic would be interesting to see between this parent and her kid.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: September 10th!

Personality: Leviathan is similar to his mother in many ways, but ‘friendly’ is not one of them. He leans into his monstrous appearance and prefers to keep himself in the water, but if he’s venturing out of it, he is a force to be reckoned with. He is blunt and cool, although he has a soft spot for his momma.

If you threaten Leviathan, he will probably ignore you. If you threaten his mother, there will be hell to pay.

Early in his life, he follows her like a duckling — imprint and copy. All of Kaimana’s behaviors will be matched exactly, or at least to the best of his ability, making him a quick study. He will grow to be greedy and intelligent, keeping meticulous track of trade goods and making an excellent intimidation tool if someone is trying to stiff her.

Levi will, however, struggle to understand why he can’t just take what he wants from other Gembound. That way, he can leave with twice the profit! … Best to let Kaimana take the lead, lest the first mate overtake the captain.

He struggles to remember his own size and strength. Leviathan makes an excellent fighter, with all his sharp edges and his ice-cold attitude, but he doesn’t actually have any desire to hurt other Gembound. Sometimes though, and especially as a child, he forgets himself and gets too rough.

Levi is, on the whole, almost… draconic, in personality. Certainly, in appearance, but ultimately he is a beast of water and so he prefers to stick to the ground rather than take his chances up in the air.

(tl;dr -- cool-headed, doesn't know his own strength, a little draconic in personality, unfriendly but not necessarily cruel, a little mimic early in his life, similar to kaimana otherwise. loves his momma and will compromise his values for her sake.)



Theoretical RP Sample: In the water behind Kaimana, mostly submerged and peering at the animal she did her dealings with, was less of a monster and more of a child. Generally, Levi did not get involved in these matters until they were over -- he wasn't very good at talking, and he was big enough to scare away customers, and he got frustrated easily when bartering came up because he didn't really understand why Momma couldn't just take what she wanted no matter how many times she explained it to him. Staying in the water was better -- easier, certainly, with his nose poking up like a log as he laid still enough that only something perceptive might have noticed.

But he could see them, as they talked. He saw the way that the littler animal bristled, teeth flashing. Aggression...! A low rumble reverberated through him, sending ripples through the water. His momma's ear swiveled, and her tailtip flicked -- a no, or at least a not yet, and he reluctantly stayed put. She wasn't big enough to scare him, not really, but even he didn't want to disappoint his mother. So Levi stayed where he was.

But the littler animal snapped with teeth and Kaimana jumped up, and Levi wasn't going to put up with anyone threatening his mother. He surged forward with a low rumble, rising out of the water like a god and snapping his beak as he approached. "Levi," Kaimana called in a tone like a warning, but he didn't care anymore. He stalked towards the now-cowering creature, and if he'd had lips, they would have been peeled back. As it were, every scrap of fur on his body bristled.

"Give 'er what she asked for," he growled, looming over the other animal, "an' your violence won't be repaid." It was a startling juxtaposition -- a strong vocabulary in the mouth of a seven-foot-tall creature who was still honestly just a child. The other animal scrambled to offer up what they'd been trying to stiff her, and Leviathan sniffed at them to try and assess their value. Then, he paused, because he sucked at this. "Momma?"

She nodded, and he let out a bird-like shriek to send the other creature skittering away like a roach with the lights turned on. Levi's growling changed to a reverberating purr and he scooped up the treasures as carefully as he could in his front paws, rising up to his hind legs and moving over to offer them to her. "Here go!" he said brightly, and then, Levi was drifting back into the water.



Plot Ideas / Character Plans I’d be leaning more heavily into Navy’s design for Levi, and I’d give him odd eyes — one yellow, one blue. Or maybe mottle them? He’ll probably hatch the size of a normal jaguar cub, which is going to be hilarious as he shoots up very quickly.

I'm thinking that he'll lean into Kaimana pretty heavily, and I have plans for him to stay with her even if he's a little abrasive. He'll generally listen to his momma.

Name: Tethys, meaning an ancient ocean, Greek in origin.

Personality:

In her fledgling cycles she is known to be her mother's shadow. A curious bright eyed shadow quickly becoming known for mischief and harmless pranks. Bright bubbly laughter following in the wake of her deeds. She is a happy child, nothing can seem to get her down.

She has a taste of the oddities in life, whether that be others, objects, or scraps of information that catches her eye, quickly amassing a horde. A horde that the young child will guard jealously allowing no one, save her mother to mess with.

This leads to a skewed perception of others. While there is no underhanded malice intent in her "collecting" people. She struggles with the intent of others. Watching her mother had taught her that there is a give and take. A concept that will shape the future of her dealings with other gembounds. There will always be deal struck in some fashion.

This bright mischievous child may never mellow to that of the cool, calm collected grace of her mother. There will always be a hunger for something more. While she might depart from her mother's embrace she will always return. Seeking comfort in their bond.

Theoretical RP Sample:

She was weightless within the warm waters of Fornax. While the young cub had yet to experience the true wonders on flight, here, in the seemly expanless blue she was unknowingly working on the basics. That is where she played, until the need to refill her lungs force her to break the surface. Not far from the shore of moon island her mother sat watching her, should anything go awry Tethys knew that she would be safe once more. With another lung full of air she was back underwater once more. Time, along with proper teaching, would see her transition from the air to water seamlessly, but for now, not yet use to the movement of only using her wings to propel herself towards the shore, she was awkward in the water.

She was exhausted as she dragged herself up to where Kaimana sat. "I did it momma!" Her voice bright a contrast against the look of the waterlogged cub. Her wing tips having left a trail behind her until the water deemed it fit to wash it away. Tethys, yawning, stepped in between her mother's legs to lean heavily against her right. Her wings folded neatly as she took comfort in the closeness the two were sharing. " Momma can you tell me a story?"

To be truthful the young one fell asleep soon after, although should anyone have pointed that out she would have protested. Just because she was resting her eyes didn't mean that she was sleeping. She definitely didn't snore either.


Plot Ideas / Character Plans

- 11 foot tall future Seer? Stormbringer? Rainmaker? Illusionist? with control over arcane, light, electricity and pressure, on top of her domain over water. Will dazzle you with illusions and readings of fate, or make a personal storm cloud to follow you around.
- Will be her mother's shadow through her younger years. Unknown as to what she'll be doing when is an adult but Kaimana will be a part of her life either way, she's to much of a momma's girl to just dip off the radar.
- A small dip into plant, fungi, and prokaryote to become an effective herbalist, apothecary, and healer. Although she makes no claims as such so one might want to watch out. Who knows she might have mislabel something.
- Does "Mom stop telling everyone my embarrassing childhood stories I have an image of mystery to maintain." vibe count as a plot? Because I am down to throw her into whatever to get those stories into the cave rumor mill.
- Speaking of rumor mills, she wants to know all the secrets, the gossip.
- Has a soft spot for Fornax, is likely to frequently return and/or settle within the cave itself.
- Someone needs to teach her how to fly.

Here goes nothing:
Name: Aequor (Means: Sea, but most specifically: deep sea) (Latin)

Gender: He/Him

Personality: Aequor is many things, a mixture of his mother and the alien of whom the stone once belonged to.

One of his interests is crafting. And not the kind where you tie to sticks together and call it a masterpiece. He often dives under the water for long periods of time, finding the things that lurk underneath. Guess that's why his name means deep sea, huh? The things he finds under there often consist of bones, shells, and whatever you find at the bottom of a lake.

Once he has collected some good treasures, he brings them up to the shore, where he crafts them into things. All he got was a bone and a shell? BOOM. Aequor has got a million ideas for what to make with it. This is the part where he takes after his mom: when he finds the crafted result to his liking, he slams a price tag onto it and decides to sell it. That said, the price he puts on it is usually not the price he sell it for. Oh, the original price was a rock? Well not anymore! It's two rocks and a fish now! Bargaining is one of his strong suits.

But, Aequor still looks to Kaimana is guidance in most situations, taking her advice and learning from it. When he starts out, he will have a natural talent for finding and crafting things, and he will learn about selling and trading things from his mom. He tries to have a close relationship with Kaimana, and is calm and collected around strangers. There is simply nothing to worry about around them due to his size. Aequor is straight forward, and often does not think before he says something. There is no sugar coating his words, as he believes that there is no point in lying to someone else about things. He is extremely protective of his mom, and protecting her is his main goal. If you even touch her the wrong way he will kill you.

Aequor likes eating mostly fish, and other meats that he finds under the surface of the water. As he is the top predator there, he has no fear of becoming prey himself. Being very agile in the water, he often swims around and snatches fish, but he can also catch fish by spotting them from the air and catching them within his claws. This works especially well for bigger fish, which he can lift and drop onto the ground.

Theoretical RP Sample:

Aequor dived into the water, feeling its cooling touch envelope his body. This was where he felt at home. His strong jaguar legs propelled him through the water, while his back finned feet were used for paddling and steering. His wings were of no use down here, so he kept them folded, spreading them out to use as a sudden brake when needed.

As he neared the bottom, Aequor scooped up a couple of trinkets: some shells, rocks, driftwood, and bones. A good catch. He swam back up to the surface, and was about to dramatically fly right out of the water when he heard something: his mom was making a trade deal. Not wanting to disturb the bargaining, he left only his nose and horns showing above the water. Something that could easily be mistaken for wood.

The trade looked like it was going well, a lot of smiling and deals were being made. Aequor wondered if he would be able to join in. He barely thought about it, it was like his paws moved of their own accord. The items that he collected from the lake bottom turned into a matching mortar and pestle set, used for crushing berries to make dye. Hmm, he wondered what it would be worth. A stone and three fish? An additional feather? He was good at making things to sell, but not exactly the best at pricing them. Well, he was learning. Perhaps he should push it at two stones.

Aequor burst out of the water, his wings sending droplets of water flying everywhere. The look of shock on the other animal's face was one to remember. Pure terror. Landing on the shore, he held out his paw with the mortar and pestle on it. "Two stones?" Three shiny stones appeared in his paw, and with a flash, the other animal had disappeared. "Did I do good Momma? Three stones?" He often asked Kaimana about if he priced things right, and if the trade was good. Aequor dropped the stones into her paw, and they talked as they walked back to their home cave.

It was warm here, sleeping with his mom. He was getting a bit too big for the cave already, but he enjoyed snuggling with his mom, even if it meant waking up with a cramped body the next morning. Aequor placed his wing over Kaimana, and wrapped his tail around her body. It had been a good day. He drifted off to sleep.

Okay! So I had intended to announce yesterday, but I figured I should give the whole day for last edits. You all had some PHENOMENAL apps and they were adorable and I loved them, and in the end I have decided that the kid should go to dove. Thank you all for the apps you've made, reading them all made me very happy :3
