Alright, shiny crock room. What wacky wonders were you offering now?

Aleph didn't want to mess up their quest. They really didn't. It was hard to find others, to greet them. It seemed like no one was fit for the job! To be fair, Aleph hadn't been trying all this time. They kept getting distracted. Like, right now. Distracted! By what exactly?

Well... Aleph didn't really know.

It was white. Fuzzy. Cold cold cold! But Aleph's pelt was also white, fuzzy, and warm warm warm! So maybe it'd balance this out. Aleph had no idea where this cold stuff was coming from. The winds made no sense. Aleph would never be able to forget the first visit to the big, shiny crock. It hadn't been white, or far too cold. It had been shiny and blue.

Aleph was going to figure out what this was, by seeing just how much of the room it covered. That's right folks! The pallas cat was going in!

The howling wind is unremitting, even at the threshold where Aleph was pushing against it. Snow buffeted against their face, the intensity increasing with every step in. A whirling gust swept out for the Pallas cat, threatening to knock them off their feet.

'Oh shoot--' It was windy, but no matter! Aleph wasn't going to be stopped! Big fluff, stocky build, it was all designed to combat simple winds! This was nothing! No-- this was ADVENTURE! This was CONQUEST! This was--

--DISCOVERY!!!

Aleph shoved through the blizzard through the powers of sheer will and evolutionary advantage, paws finding purchase where they could. The winds grew stronger and stronger, and then - !

A brief moment's break where the turbulent weather was impeded by a rather large stone. Snowflakes swirled around and behind the rocky shield, but it took the brunt of the wind. It was a bit like being in the eye of a hurricane.

Of course, there was further to go...

Aleph had no doubt that with sheer power, they could make it through the wind. It was hardly difficult! They were just gettin' started!! A rock came, like a place marker, or a shield, into view. Aleph stood beside it and marveled for a few moments. "Still more to go," Aleph wondered aloud. Aleph was assuming it was true -- in reality, they couldn't have any clear idea of the validity of that statement.

Experimentation was the only way to see.

Using the rock to orient themself, Aleph took a deep breath, shuddered off some white fluff, and attempted to trudge ever onward, deeper! DEEPER!

Much more to go, and soon it would take a bit more than intense focus and drive to push through the storm. The deeper Aleph got, the harder wind smashed into their squat frame. Hardly any snow could accumulate on the ground; it was now a matter of getting a good grip on the slick, icy ground.

Far (or close? It was difficult to tell...) ahead, a warm glow bloomed through the blinding white. It swung to and fro and flickered, as if hanging from something. Every rocking motion had it drawing further into the occlusion.

Okay okay okay maybe this was harder than Aleph had thought.

They hadn't expected the ICE on the ground!!

Oh, it was freezing, AH the wind wasn't helping!! But it was okay! It was okay! Immunity, invulnerability, impenetrability... this was a test! Aleph could do this. Aleph was full grown now, coming into the power they deserved! THEY COULD TAKE IT!!!

Breath steady, head straight, one paw in front of the other-- AH NOT THERE THAT'S SLIPPERY--

Something glowing up ahead. Was that what that was?! It looked like it, but then again, Aleph was squinting. How close? How far... HRRRRNGH COME ON--

A particularly strong blast of wind curved for the cat, taking their feet right out from underneath them and shoving them back to the snowdrifts. It wasn't completely back to the start, but... disappointing nonetheless.

The flickering light was completely out of sight again.

AAAAAAAAAGH NO! NOPE! NOT HAPPENIN'!

Aleph was NOT accepting that has defeat! DEFEAT?! WHO'S THAT?!? SOUNDS LIKE A LOSER-- Aleph did not ASSOCIATE. With LOSERS.

The pallas' cat was goin' back in. SCREW WIND. SCREW ICE. They saw that glow-- they were sure of it now! They had been close to something. You can't just tease and snatch away! Aleph was gonna chase! CHAAAAASE!

Persistence paid off. Warmth ebbed back into view, undulating with every wicked gale. This time, it was tantalizingly close - Aleph was making as best progress as they could.

Being this deep into the storm would require intense strength or skill to sustain. Snow-blindness could begin to be a threat, even with such a clear goal in mind. Whatever the light was, it was perhaps past a reasonable distance.
