Mayfal grabbed onto Comet's warm brush with their teeth, more gently than last time. They wondered what exactly a "comet" was. They didn't ask though. They also did not accept or reject what might have been a compliment? They weren't sure, still, about anything.

Mayfal still followed, though, tripping now and then over roots, rocks, and the general uneven ground. Thankfully, Comet was going slowly, but blindness is still just that: blindness.

They continued to listen and feel. There was a variety of sizes, smells, sounds, and temperatures of everything on this path. And then there was something beyond temperature in the air that they just couldn't seem to find a word for.

They heard Comet's footsteps, too. They were heavy footsteps, far more so than Mayfal's. The idea of being so openly vulnerable with such a large creature unsettled them a little. But Comet had yet to break what little trust Mayfal had in her so far.

When the two reached their destination, Mayfal didn't exactly know what to do or say. So, they simply rested their head again, feeling quite heavy as it always did.

Once she felt the gentle teeth on her tail, she started on the way to the house. Comet tried to go as slow as she could, making sure that instead of taking the shortcuts, they took the paths that were well worn and free of roots and branches. But even with these precautions, the occasional rock or twig on the ground was a difficulty. She wondered how the fox would get around without ANY help at all, because even with Comet's guidance it was not easy. She could tell that they were focused not only on not tripping, but also on the surroundings and all the things they could detect without sight.
Finally, they arrived. "There is a path here across the trench, be careful to not fall off the sides into the water." Comet walked slowly and guided them into the house. "And here we are! You can get water straight from the trench, it's clean. I can go get some prey for you if you'd like?" she suggested. Comet just realized how hard it would be for Mayfal to try and find a way across the trench. There were no safety things on the side to prevent them from falling off.

Funny Comet. "The water shouldn't be too much of a problem." Mayfal gave a small smirk with the comment as they headed towards the sound of the water.

Strangely enough, water felt just as natural as fire. They were both just different forms of temperature, right? Plus, water would feel nice on the burns they had garnered.

Mayfal submersed themself, walking along the bottom. It's was slightly deeper than expected but not too bad. Soon enough they reemerged on the other side of the trench. They shook a little to start drying.

Mayfal then turned their head back to where the estimated Comet to be. "Where's the best place to hunt?"
They wanted to at least start training to be self-sufficient. They wouldn't be small forever, and they wouldn't always run into such nice creatures. "I'm STARVING!" They said with a smile.

Comet watched as the fire fox submerged herself into the water. That was strange, she didn't know that the water would feel so nice to a fire magic user. "I like to start in a clearing nearby, many scents pass in that area and it is easy to start tracking from there. Come on!" she allowed her tail to brush against the fox again and led her to the clearing, which was not too big. Only five feet across, and filled with grass. "Try to catch wind of a stronger scent, more fresh." Comet decided to let the fox try out hunting on their own.

Mayfal could tell that scent was going to be a key factor of successful hunting. They felt grass consuming their ankles, which must mean that the two were in a field of non-obstructive vegetation. Mayfal inhaled deeply, filling their lungs with energy but also allowing the many scents to dance across their tongue.

The dewy vegetation was everywhere. And in plenty of areas of this field, there were smells of small, meaty rodents. A somewhat rancid smell but with an undertone of raw meat.

There were definitely things to hunt, but specificity was difficult. Their ears twitched around to try and pinpoint a location, but there were too many.

Mayfal decided to lower their head and sniff at the ground. Something would have surely scampered across earlier.

Comet watched as Mayfal caught wind of a scent. Good. That was important, because scent was probably the second or third most important thing to have if you couldn't see. "How about you follow the scent and I make sure you don't crash?" she would warn the fox of any roots or uneven things in the ground to allow them to track the scent themselves to practice.

Mayfal's response was action. They followed the olfactorial trail left by this rodent, slowly turning left, right, left, straight through the ticklish grass. They were making sure to keep their ears peeled as well, as that would denote proximity.

Suddenly, Mayfal heard something. It was small, but undeniable. They could try to get a better estimate of the creature's position if they followed the tail a little further. Keeping their movements as quiet as possible was hard, but they could hear *everything*. They could control their footfall.

They were set and ready. They got into position to pounce, their tail raised towards the treetops.

Three...two...one...leap!

She followed them through the grass, noting that they kept their ears pricked and attentive. Finally, they were within a few feet of the prey. Comet watched the fox soar through the air and land straight on the mouse. Amazing! Sometimes even she wasn't able to pounce that good, and she could see. "Wow great job!" They had only been out of their chrysalis for a few hours, and they were already doing so well! Now that she knew the fox knew how to hunt, that was one big problem ticked off the list. The next would probably be... predators. She wondered how they would do that. "Since you know how to hunt now, would you like to practice defending yourself from predators?"

Mayfal turned toward the sound of Comet's voice. They were very proud of themself and still riding the adrenaline high. Some sparring seemed like theoretical fun to Mayfal.

With a mouth full of mouse, they gave an affirmative "Hure!" and a head bob.

Mayfal ate the mouse as quickly as possible without getting a bone lodged in any uncomfortable places.

Comet waited for them to finish their mouse, then smiled, "Okay, I'll start." She scanned the fox's body for any weaknesses. Their main problem was that they couldn't see, so she decided to do a different approach. Fast, like a flash, she darted forward and attempted to bite their back leg, lightly of course.
