Fresh out of the chrysalis and already making bad decisions, huh?

Beast, the teensy, cutesy, adorable amalgam of tentacles and hooves, came teetering through the caves. There wasn't any motive behind it, just a vague desire to see the world. After all, they were just born a few days ago, so why not check it all out? Maybe there would be others like him, or some skittish lessers he could chase! Well, it was hard to chase anything with legs so tightly packed together, but it's the thought that counts, right?

So far, the hybrid had made his way out of Orion and into Canis. The lights were dimming for night, but he could still make out his surroundings quite well-- namely, the bones. Of course, to him they were just another funny rock, not the remains of ancient corpses. He had a bit of fun kicking them around with his first pair of legs, mainly sticking towards the edges of the dank cave. But there was something more that interested him: a collapsed stone door on the far wall.

Beast's interest peaked the moment he spotted it. What was behind it? More bones? More of those crawling bat-things that flew through the air? Maybe someone like him, who he could talk to and have a jolly good time? Whatever it was, it seemed interesting enough, and that meant the little gemling was shambling over there before anyone could tell him otherwise. Curiosity kills the octo-boar-bird-rodent, you know.

A few minutes later and Beast was scrambling over the collapsed Tunnel P entrance. His steps were slow and delicate-- you had to be careful not to trip when you had six closely-packed feet, you know. A hot, stagnant wind ruffled his feathers and guided his eyes down to a dark tunnel. Woah. It wasn't as well lit as he would've liked, so those beady dark eyes could only make out the vague shapes of a winding sandstone corridor. Still, it looked cool. And Beast sure did like cool.

He was so enraptured that he forgot about being careful. A poor choice.

A single misstep, and Beast came tumbling down the other side in a flurry of rocks. A shriek briefly tore through his stomach-beak-- "Baah!"-- before dropping hard onto the sand. 'Ow.' Nothing was broken, don't worry, but he was still sore and a little cut up on the landing side. He held in a whine. No time to cry over booboos, now was the time to explore!

Slowly, the creature crawled back onto his feet and continued waddling his way to the other side. Another poor choice.

It was bold of anything to assume that it could traipse past the threshold of Tunnel P with no hangups. No sooner than the odd hexaped stumbled over the remains of the ancient door did he find his path obstructed by a meathook of a hand. Talons scraped against the stone as Alpha pivoted around the planted foot, looming over the little hybrid. Four eyes glimmered from the silhouette of its head, narrowed. Teeth bared in a wicked, glowing grin.

All-in-all, a terrifying experience for someone so young.

The monstrous hybrid grunted, immediately reaching out to grab the little creature, "you aren't allowed here." It wasn't a particularly aggressive swipe of the hands; it was fairly gentle as far as any interaction with Orthoclase-Alpha was concerned. Just a toss in the right direction and a pat on the ass was all it thought necessary. "Go on, get out," it grumbled.

Clearly, this was just some bumbling infant going the wrong direction. Hardly anything to get too concerned about.
