CAVE STATUS
QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
Does anyone else think that the animal Gembound were never meant to exist? I feel like they're an accidental spontaneous generation of the magic crystals left about. Like the caves were meant for something else, and maybe animals were meant to be inside the cave--but that the crystals were perhaps meant to generate humans or do something else entirely, and have started utilizing what they can, instead, namely animals.
Like maybe the crystals aren't at all just simple gems, or the magic isn't--after all, what cave in existence has THIS many diverse and densely-packed gems & gem veins?
I feel that the story might go something like--humanity finds powerful source of mutation & health radiation in form of "magic," said "magic" seems to be easily stored by crystalline objects. There's a war of some kind, one of the self-sustaining "safehouse" places is a giant cave with a good magic source & crystal pathways inlaid to keep the magic flowing. One day the people all die off, and the crystals lie dormant for some time before beginning to infuse the animals of the cave, instead, with magic, whether from cave life or stored DNA or what have you.
Another option is that the humans set up the system because there is something specifically targetting humans for death--be it the gem magic itself or disease, war, or an enemy.
Maybe the crystals and magic are sentient, and humans' harnessing and abusing the power caused it to lash out, spawning an army to destroy humanity. Now it's "trying again," or even creating an army of its own to fight any more humans that may turn up.

My thoughts:
"Origin" can be called the beginning, or Genesis. Why do the first generation critters have to be of realistic species? That is because, like a fresh new world, mutations can only happen with time - more and more things stem out of the original "intention", similar to evolution. This is a new start from the last wars among the strange beasts carved in Tunnel J (the armour weren't stated to be human armour, I'd like to think they belonged to Aquarian and Nemean etc.) - connoting a fresh start bought over by the shedding of blood of the many smaller top hierarchy NPCs. I believe that these gembounds are being reared and granted magical powers for a greater mission. Perhaps, a dark-light plot, which they will be exposed to once they are ready/an NPC deems them ready. It's like gathering a little gembound army c:
I believe that the world outside of the cave is desolate - empty and unformed. But maybe a path will be unlocked to outside the cave where the gembounds will have to embark on the mission for real, once they are ready and will the path open using their magic and sincerity.
On another note, maybe there will come a time when there'll be factions - each gembound sorted out to their respective 'creators'/DNA computers according to gem and all hell will break loose :p

@Dragon: In the recent Beast thread, Jupiter semi-confirms that the animal gembounds are an accident. Potentially a side effect of the war/fighting/golem creation...??

side note: Typhon just reminds me a lot of Raheerah, but doesn't really fit in with the themeo, so I'm still stuck in this tbh. i mean Raheerah could just be Ares but that seems way too lazy)

Raptor Mom was made by Banshee so I'm just going to assume Raptor mom isn't in the Zodiac. If she was, I'd be pretty impressed with how well put together Madi and crew are at BSing stuff. ;)
Svarog was named by MEMBERS and therefore probably is not involved in the zodiac stuff. If he IS, then we'll have to find out more about him before determining where he belongs. He'll probably be one of the colder zodiacs at least, which might narrow it down. With the addition of Moth NPC (Rest in Pieces, 2015), I think it's fairly safe to say that Svarog is not part of the zodiac thing and is just a Spire monster. 8)
Raheerah and Dawa are still up in the air, though I'm considering some sort of gemini nonsense with them. Otherwise, Dawa could fall under Cancer (ironically) as her name relates to moon stuff, but I also see her falling under Libra or Aries-- hard to say where Raheerah falls if they aren't like, twin or whatever. Magical space twins. Would like some help digging into their stuff for more information.
