Dragon listened curiously to Eve. Now that he could hear the quiver in her voice, and now that all was dark and silent again--his roaring fires gone out--he found himself intrigued rather than merely irritated.

"...You don't need to be scared of it. I can kill it," he added, with the utter confidence of the young and cocky who hadn't yet known the sting of defeat. "Even if I can't, Dad can."

The alligator continued to peer up, now gone silent, just peering and listening. Down below, being an alligator stuck on the marsh floor, he still couldn't hear it or see it--but that didn't stop him straining all his senses in the attempt to do so.

"Hello...?" he called out at length, more loudly.

Then, in a near-whisper, "Well--what did it look like...?"

The sloth slowly, very slowly, pulled itself up and onto a branch, near the nest. It's eyes were still half open - rudely awoken. It would open it's mouth widely, baring it's short, stumpy teeth that mark it as a herbivore. He would elicit a short, high pitched squeak as he slowly clambered along the branch until he had a good view of the misty area. He could hear the voices below, if only barely. He blinked slowly in response to what he heard. His methodical, cautious movements would probably be visible from the ground - although it would certainly take a few minutes.
