Jotun.

It was disappointing that her own magic had not amounted to much, and there was a brief panic - especially strong when the two-headed creature came barrelling at her - but all of that faded in the instant of his screw up.

Everthing that could go wrong for him, did. The two heads did not touch her. His massive body went tumbling in to the glass shards situated all around her, and so Jotun was freed while the beast was cut deeply by all those segments. It hurt to watch.

However it was also the perfect time to try her own magic again, so the dragon channelled through the stone on their brow and volleyed another wave of dispersion towards where he lay; at the same time as this wave erupted from Jotun (like a sphere of influence where the dragon was in the middle), everything suddenly felt cold.

Her own spell amounted to nothing; the energy she summoned pulsed in the air and effectively fizzled out on contact with reality, yet again.

Comet sent energy through the air which seemed to bounce from mud puddle to mud puddle, producing the crackling sound of ice forming wherever there was moisture as it went. Jotun could listen to the wave of magic move through the corridor towards the prone beast and felt an overwhelming sense of triumph as she watched the monster glaciate.

Well this was a disaster.

Ice. Cold. Khavur was starting to feel a centimeter of pain wriggling its way through the beast's neurons. Cold was joining it. This was not good.

But not for the reasons you might think.

'THIS IS NO LESSON. not yet.'

Khavur began to rattle, to flail desperately in an attempt to break from the grips of chill.

'Is this all the puffball?' Khavur... almost didn't want it to be. That was so... confusing...

The beast was not... ####--__#_#_Q*)(*)(^*

Attempt: Break Free

"Yes!" with the glaciate working, they were now frozen and unable to do anything for a time. Comet thought through the list of spells in her head, trying to think which of them would be most effective. Oh, wait. There was one. But should she really? She didn't want to kill them, senseless killing over small things she disapproved of. So that spell was out of the question.

Suddenly, the thought of it. She would need to get close up to them, ideally on their back, so they couldn't get her. But then there was the problem of the glass spikes. Comet summoned the water in her body, and planned to expel the water like a jet, and break all the glass spikes to pieces.

Jotun.

The air felt colder and colder, which oddly enough made Jotun more uncomfortable than she anticipated. Maybe it was the fact she was cold-blooded. The cold made her thoughts slow down, and she felt a dull tingling in her toes sort-of like when your foot goes to sleep. This battle would have to be quick or she'd feel some kind of side-effect to the cold that was deepening everywhere. It wasn't directed at her but that didn't mean she didn't notice some of the ambient chill.

In an effort to help Comet in the destruction of the sharp things jutting from every angle, the dragon summoned as much energy as she could and redirected it with her gem to create another dispersion wave; this one pulsed from her -- and as a change of pace, waved through some of the glass shards still standing, forcing them to crack and splinter like shrapnel.

Okay. Enough was enough. Khavur somehow managed to put off feeling like an idiot. No, for the monster, this was a very intriguing lesson. These two fought with magic and magic alone, it seemed. Even the colossal ursine. They focused on destroying its glass shards. That seemed to be a mistake -- there was more where that came from.

If large things could fight with magic, could they also hunt with magic? Should they? Was it... or was it not? Why wasn't this answering anything? Why was it making it more confusing? Perhaps Khavur should mirror them -- its magic wasn't that offensive, but maybe the glass shards could help break the ice if they were strong enough.

More frail glass shards rose to replace the ones that had been destroyed. Few were capable of actually breaking the glass. Khavur roared in frustration. Everything felt like a blur and it didn't know why.

Level: Fledgeling
Round: 3/5
Attempt: Make more glass shards to break/loosen ice & replace the ones that were destroyed.

V-Chaos-Two waddled out from where they'd been sleeping, awoken finally by the commotion. They sat on their haunches and rubbed their eyes, watching the fighting before picking out his sibling and throwing up their arms in a cheer.

"You can do it!", they cried, "I believe in you Khavur, Bringer of uh... shadows! And darkness! And um... stuff!!!"

The little creature was bigger than the average dog now, but still small, smaller than Comet, definitely. They put their hands down and sat watching the fight like a tennis match, and quickly lay down, legs bunched up under them. They let out a yawn and lay their head on their paws again, head twitching from side to side with each movement, wincing and cooing when it was appropriate.

Hm, shouldn't Vargas intervene?

Chaos-Two paused and stood up, balancing on their hind legs before taking off on all fours, yelling his name, "DA- VARGAAAS!! THEY'RE FIGHTING IN THE TUNNEL! COME SEE!!"

- THE LEVIATHAN -

Vargas came in on swift strides, irritated at the interruption. He was planning, damn it. And now, yet again, these young things were encroaching on his work.

He rounded the corner and came to a halt, staring down.

Shards of glass; pools of water. The gentle tinkling of falling sand-formed-into-stone.

"WHAT," he demanded, in a bellow, "IS GOING ON HERE?"

There was little more to say.

Comet had been preparing to cast another spell and hopefully end this fight, when she heard a voice. "You can do it! I believe in you Khavur, Bringer of uh... shadows! And darkness! And um... stuff!!!" Her head turned to see a small animal, smaller than her even, which was something. It sort of looked like a goat? But not really? But the important part was that it was cheering for her opponent.

Her thoughts jumped to when Khavur had announced that this place was territory of SoS. Would more animals appear? And sure enough, the small goat thing called over someone named Vargas.

Then Vargas did appear, and he was HUGE. "Well, um," Comet mustered up her courage, which wasn't easy considering she was talking to, well, a huge beast. "We were fighting. Yeah."

Jotun

Listening to the breaking of the glass shards was like music to her ears, although it would not last too long. All that Jotun had been attempting to accomplish with her magic was to push this stranger away or at the very least clear the field of dangers, lest someone get seriously injured. That had been successful in a limited fashion - as shown by the scattering shards across the ice.

The beast that had assailed the pair of them was not going to stop. If anything their continued struggle against him caused an uproar of malevolence, and this came to fruition as a fresh wave of glass shards rose up through the earth and punctured the thinner sections of Comet's ice sheet. A few smaller shards embedded themselves in to Jotun: she loosed a bellow as these thorn-like objects penetrated her thick hide along her haunch.

It hurt. She had never hurt before, and did not like it. Her reaction was entirely knee-jerk in quality: funnelling all of that hurt and that spark of rage in to her stone, then directing the brunt of that energy towards the monster with a full-blast of dispersion. Unfortunately her rage was counter-intuitive; Jotun could not summon enough energy to properly cast the spell with her mind so distracted. The energy flooded through her and then hit a wall of adrenaline before dispersing to nothingness.

The failure was well timed, as someone new came bursting on to the scene with a roar of their own. This new monster was immense. Jotun shot them a haughty look and braced herself for more danger, presuming this loud creature was just as unlawful and antagonistic as its precursor. As long as her friend Comet was safe, nothing else really mattered.

A sudden cheering of its name was deeply disruptive indeed. Was that little sibling who was cheering? Who had forgotten Khavur's full and silly title? A call for Master Vargas proved even more distracting for the beast. Would he come...? When? What would he-- And finally, the "big purple friend" himself appeared, bellowing a question as if it were an order. Welp, that was that. Khavur immediately resigned to defeat, feel free to declare the winners by default. That is, unless Master Vargas had anything to say about it. Would the Master egg it on? Order an encore? Doubtful. An explanation he had certainly ordered, however, so that would be attended to first. Khavur would turn to face Master Vargas, perhaps exposing the myriad of cuts it had been caused to the purple fiend.

Comet was correct. They had been fighting. But Comet had not known why. Khavur could explain, perhaps. In private. Ah, if only it had been faster-- 'YOU HAVE FAILED AT EVEN A LESSON YOU-- hush hush hush hush hush hush hush--' it might have been able to evade this consequence. "Yes, Master Vargas. Fighting. I was fighting these two." 'AND LOSING.' "Com--" 'SHUT IT.' Khavur cleared one of its throats. The large-horned head's one, for that was the one that spoke. "That is what is-- was going on here." And what would happen now...?

@Vargas
