The petals did not end in the center; smaller ones layered outward from the middle, creating rows of pristine white. Comet's leap, then, landed her on layers of them, and the whole of the flower briefly jerked.

There was a shifting, the entirety of the pond's water briefly displaced: a surge to and fro of a couple of inches, as if the substrate beneath had moved itself. And then the flower settled, quiet.

"I'm not damaging the flower. It's HUGE!" With her snowy white pelt, Comet blended in well with the flower, and it was rather hard to notice that a wolf pup was even there if not for her blue gemstone. The flower jerked, but didn't break. It was rather sturdy considering Comet was getting heavier.

The pond's water shifted but not much else happened. It was mesmerizing how many smaller petals there were in the center. This place was nice. She could sleep here if she wanted. Comet curled up and laid on her back. Some bubbles would be nice too.

James sighed and very gently alighted on it, almost afraid to move, "It's still a flower. Flower petals are soft and delicate and out claws and hooves could... pierce it or something."

Maybe he was just a worrywart, but then again, they could be trespassing somewhere that had been carefully hidden. Perhaps this was an Eden that belonged to someone malevolent!

He was just... worried.

The flower shifted again--faint, subtle, but there. And a low rumble echoed through the pond, vibrating the water.

The flower unfurled a little further, as if flexing, moving; vivid blue was visible deep within the center of each petal.

The flower shook again, and there was a blue color in the center of each petal. The flower might have even expanded a little more. Huh, that was strange. Was all of this happening because they were standing on the flower? The flower did not rumble when they were in the meadow.

Comet jumped up and down a bit, hoping to encourage the flower to keep unfurling. No wanting to damage it of course, she made sure not to jump too hard.

James gasped, "Comet- stop!! Stop it-"

A foot slipped into the water but he managed to stay mostly steady, ears pinning as he tried to stay level, "Comet!"

Why couldn't she listen to him once? Was this what he got for allowing her so much independence? He squeezed his eyes shut and just rode it out, gritting his teeth as he just tried to remain on the flower.

The jumping up and down could no longer go unnoticed. There was an uncoiling, a vast movement in the center of the mote, the water sloshing away. The flower twisted partly closed as the pond itself seemed to surge into gradual motion: and after a beat, the white, draconic head of Lyn rose up from the dry center of the mote.

Beneath the flower was no water; it was the coiled body of the vast white serpent, and now sleepy eyes peered at the two who were playing across his back, and the opened flower of his tail. A confused sound escaped him, a loud and vibrating, questioning noise, not unlike a just-awoken cat.

"WHOA DRAGON!" Comet was only starting to comprehend the size and scale of the thing, the flower was actually his tail! And the pond held the rest of his body! This was a huge dragon indeed, bigger than Carja even, who she thought as big as they could get.

And now, he was looking straight at them. The pup was a bit startled at the confused noise that seemed to shake the air. Barely managing to stay on, she puffed up her fur which helped her confidence a bit. "Hello there! What's your name? I'm Comet!"

James wobbled and struggled to keep his balance, and simply took to the air, staring at the serpent with his jaw dropped. He swallowed and landed on the bank, ears down.

"Oh my gosh- I'm so sorry," he said, "We didn't mean to intrude or awaken you- well, she did- but she-"

Oh my God James might actually kill Comet for this.

"We're sorry," he said, tipping his head and hoping that Lyn was friendly. Maybe. Hopefully.

Or else they might have to run.

The creature did not answer. Glistening white scales flashed with quiet sparks: a lace of electricity danced down its body, briefly, and then faded. Serpentine head turned, long whiskers seeming to waver, as it regarded first Comet, and then James.

Long, scaled body coiled slightly tighter as the head rose higher from the mote. A dip of its head seemed to acknowledge James' apology, and then a quiet, contented sound toward Comet.

Lyn then curled back up, dipping its head back beneath the flower, as if unbothered by the presence of the two. His eyes, half-closed, remained where he could watch them: soft, attentive; but he seemed to be resting there.
