Arwen eyed the rabbit, the one she'd been waiting for, for almost an hour. Not that rabbit specifically, just anything that would fall for her bait and eat the berries she'd put down. She rubbed her hands together and got the new spell she had going, hoping to kickstart the bacteria, infect the rabbit, and kill it within a matter of minutes.

Wonderful. It worked.

Sleep well, rabbit, she thought, and nearly giggled as she spat upon a ball of dirt and threw it, the pieces hitting the rabbit right in the side.

The rabbit spooked a few feet and stopped again, chest puffing as it tried to decide whether being pelted with dirt was worth running away from a massive pile of free food. As it contemplated, it started to groom, just as Arwen wanted.

She almost wanted to cackle in glee.

Patiently, she waited, watching the rabbit clean itself, licking it's hands and fur, getting the virus all in it's system, the effects taking hold. The fauna cleanse failed, but no matter. She could do it later.

The rabbit set its paws down and returned to the pile of food after a moment, eating greedily, mouth quickly filling with food. Mid-bite, it froze, and slowly fell over, dead.

Brain bleeds were fun!

Arwen made a delighted noise and scooted forward, clapping her hands as she looked over the rabbit greedily, giggling to herself. Redwood would love this!

"Bluuuue~!!", she called out in a sing-song voice, dragging the rabbit behind her, despite the damn thing being twice her size.

Arwen cooed happily, chittering under her mask, so happy about her achievement that she couldn't help but sing.

Her magic failed yet again and she grew nervous. She had to get rid of it- why wasn't her stupid magic working?

"Get going!", she suddenly snarled, hoping that she could somehow scare it into working.

"Blue!", she called out again, hoping they didn't hear her outburst at her magic being disobedient.

Gah, it had to work eventually. She just had to get rid of it before Blue came.

When it finally worked, she breathed out a sigh of relief, shoulders sagging. Okay... now she was fine.

"Blue!!", she shouted, "I have a gift for you!"

She settled down to wait, hands clasped together. She was very pleased at how everything had turned out.

Blue had heard Arwen's call for them, but it took them a second to get up, as they were previously terribly distracted by some other bird-like lessers. they had been flying, and Blue wanted to know if they could do that too. they could not. yet.

they walked over over with a smile, crouching down the meet Arwen where they had dropped her off.

"yess?" they asked with a happy chirp, curiously eyeing the rabbit corpse being dragged behind her.

Arwen managed to shove the rabbit in front of her and put her hands on it, practically singing in glee, "I killed this for you! It took a little while and some careful planning, but I did!! Brain bleeds are so fun, don't you think?"

With the perpetual smile on her doll-like face, one might say that she was creepy as all Hell. She cleansed the rabbit too, just in case.

"What do you think?" she said, clapping her hands happily.

Blue made a joyful warbling noise at Arwen's gift, picking it up in their claws to inspect it, chuckling.
"yes. very fun." they agreed, carnivorous glee in their tone.

they looked at the rabbit, eyes focused.


a low rumble in their throat was the only warning Arwen would get, before, with a snap on their jaws, half the rabbits body was torn away, save for the bone. a flash of their white, sharp teeth before they sunk into the rabbit, disappearing. little spurts of blood splashed to the harpy's legs and the grass below, dripping down their chin. not a very clean eater, it seems.

a delighted hum rumbled from the harpy's chest as they chewed and swallowed with a loud gulp.

"magnificent. thank you." they hissed with a bloodied grin.

Arwen's chest puffed out happily and she clasped her hands together, "I'm so glad!"

She watched in morbid fascination as they dug into the rabbit, blood dripping and fangs tearing at the creature, so full of life only moments before. She slowly made her way forward and simply nodded, clearly wanting them to continue.

"Keep eating," she said, her voice deathly soft, "Enjoy it, Blue."

It sounded a lot like a thread in how she said it, but her eyes were trained on the open flesh, the blood that splattered the ground. The rabbit was cleansed, with no chance of ailing Blue with any sort of disease, so they were safe in that regard.

"And slower," she said, mandibles clicking together.

the harpy quirked a curious brow at Arwen's request, but nodded.


for a few slow minutes, Blue would simply enjoy their meal.

blood would continue to drip from their mouth, from their hands and the bloodied corpse of the rabbit. ther wasnt much left of it after the first bite, but Blue had truly been starving. they were too distracted in their immediate days of hatching drowning and finding Arwen food to even bother learning how to hunt.

they savored their meal. their low growls of hunger remained amongst the gross, wet sounds of flesh tearing in their teeth.

the harpy, as they finished their mid-day snack, stopped with a distressed twitter at the sudden sound of bones cracking. looking down, they had gotten so caught up that their vicelike grip had snapped the rabbits bloody spine in half. they were trying to be careful, honest!

they held the upper half curiously. they set it and the lower half down in the ground. with their palms on the ground around it, they tried something.

they half expected something to happen, but what magic they could have maybe conjured seemed to fail them. they tilted their head. maybe they'd have to find another way to get rid of all this new energy.

they turned their head back to arwen. they were still soaked in blood. their chin and chest feathers were so slicked with it they shone in the light of eridanus, the reflection almost giving their feathers a purple hue.

"was that... alright?" they asked, tilting their head. they could've seemed innocent, in that moment.

Arwen was practically drooling, staring up at Blue. They watched every movement, analyzing and taking in everything the other did. She stopped when half of the rabbit fell, almost shivering.

"Perfect," she said, breath hitching, "You're amazing... just beautiful, Blue."

She crawled forward and stood on the end of her tail, pressing her face into Blue's belly, the smell of copper apparent up close. She pulled away and approached the discarded end of the rabbit, her claws flashing as she cut it open, guts slipping free and falling onto the ground.

"Interesting...", she said softly, "Just amazing. I wonder if you and me have these things inside of us. I wonder what they do..."

She lifted out a weird little organ, the generic color of mostly everything else, and squishy and slippery, as hard to hold as a bar of soap dipped in oil. She was like that weird kid in science class who tore into their frog while everyone else complained about it smelling. It was just so fascinating.
